Dallas friends, I know you better than I know anyone. But can I ask you a few quick questions?
- Do you know where you're headed?
- Do you know how to get there?
- Are you happy with where you're headed?
It's ok to not know the answer, I'll explain why…
17 years ago, I was 18 years old. I loaded up my cobalt blue Camaro and moved from Wichita, KS to Dallas, TX.
That's a straight shot down I35 but damn if it isn't the loneliest and the most inspirational stretch of highway I've ever been on.
I spent so many hours on that stretch of highway, driving back and forth, I could drive it blindfolded.
I lived in Dallas for ten years, nearly all of my twenties. I spent 5 years in Dallas living the 9-5 jive before I “woke up.”
I worked at nights stocking groceries and went to UNT during the day. I worked 6 days a week at the local bank, going to school thinking it was cool.
I paid all my own bills. I never had a trust fund, a scholarship, a nothing. If I wanted it, I worked for it.
Like Henry Rollins, who was the manager of an ice cream store, I was the night manager of a video rental store… but always wanting more.
I never wanted school, I never liked school, but that's what EVERYONE told me… “Go to school, go to school, go to school.”
If I had known better I would have understood what they really meant: “Go to school so you can end up just like us, dreaming about a retirement instead of dreaming about living life well.”
School was a waste of time and a bigger waste of money. I never learned anything in university. All those years in school and I learned more from reading one book with an open mind.
Remember that great book Think and Grow Rich? I read that book in a $440 per month apartment on the lake in Lewisville (my true first lab).
The book changed my life and started me on the journey, but that book is very misunderstood.
It's called Think and Grow Rich, that's two things you have to do.
It's not called Think About Growing Rich. Making that simple mistakes means you will never grow rich.
Poor people think. Smart people think AND go the extra mile to grow rich. Speaking of going the extra mile, I went an extra 2,000 miles…
Nearly six years ago to the day I moved to China.
I consider China the true beginning of this B&D; journey but this plan wasn't hatched in China, the plan was hatched in Dallas.
I'd be driving north on 75N but I didn't want to go home, so I'd drive past my exit and hop on 635E. I'd drive around in circles, from A right back to A.
Where I wanted to be was B.
I wanted to be in motion, I wanted to hear the music, and I wanted more than what I had. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but damn I wanted more.
I didn't know how to get it so I'd just drive. I35, Loop 12, 121, Dallas N Tollway, 75 downtown to Doug's gym. Wherever.
It was there in my 3/4 ton Chevy pickup truck that my real plan was hatched, even though I never hatched a plan more complicated than “I'm going to make a blog and see the world.”
All I ever knew how to do online was nothing, I just knew what I WANTED to do so I made it happen.
I never told my plans to anyone, until someone finally asked “How are you gonna make money” and I answered “I'm gonna start a blog.”
He said “I just don't understand how you can make money from a blog.” I didn't understand either, I just knew it's what I was going to do.
It took me making the decision to do something new, leaving my comfort zone that was making me miserable, and getting my ass in motion.
It's great to think about things but it's not until you:
A. Commit to an action and
B. Follow through
That you actually get true results.
Remember, it's Think AND Grow Rich, not just think. I did my thinking in Dallas, I did my doing (aka growing) in China.
But it all started in Dallas.
That's why I'm starting the New World Ronin World Tour in the city that gave me life…
D A L L A S.
3-11-17
I'd be driving around town thinking, not about growing rich because I never cared….
I thought, “There has to be more to life than this. I feel like a ghost dying a slow death. I. Have. To. Do. Something. But what do I do?”
Do you ever feel that way?
If you do, come to Dallas on Saturday 3-11-17 because I'm going to show you what to do.
I'm going to show you how to get true results you want, instead of just driving down 635 at night wishing you had something to look forward to.
We're going to figure out how to give you something to look forward to. And when you have something to look forward to, I'm going to show you how to get there.
See you then Dallas, and I mean It when I say that this is a true homecoming for me, I spent most of my adult life in Dallas (10 years).
When I left, I said I'd not come back. We'll I'm coming back…
And I'm coming to kick your fucking asses into high gear.
It has been 17 years in the making and I cannot wait.
See you soon, boys.
-Victor
