Are you interested in starting a blog?
Are you interesting in blogging as a business?
Or even as a hobby?
If you are interested in blogging - but are scared to give it a try - read this article before you make a decision.
After you read this article you will see how easy, fun, and profitable it can be to start a blog.
1) The blog business is the best business there is
Think about this.
You do the work once. Say you create an ebook or a video course. ONCE.
Then…
You sell this course forever. This course or ebook is delivered automatically so there is nothing extra you have to do.
After you create the product, the business is completely hands off.
The best part? You keep nearly all of the profit.
When you create physical products and sell them, you have big costs. A product that sells for $40 might cost you $20 or $30 in materials, shipping, and manpower.
On the contrary, an ebook that you sell for $40 costs you nothing but the small processing fees charged by PayPal and others. If you sell a $40 ebook, you might keep $37 or more.
And…
You don't have to do any work when the product gets sold. Automation takes care of everything.
Running a real business is a hassle (trust me, I know) and running a blog business is a breeze.
2) New year, new you
So many people start the new year wanting a new change in their life.
But they don't often know what that change could be.
Some people want to get into shape, some people want to get an education, some people want to get a better job.
But what always happens?
You forget about whatever it is after one or two weeks.
Nothing is holding your feet to the fire so you stop caring.
But…
When you blog about your efforts you develop one thing that can help keep you on track - an audience.
Yes, it is people - real people like you and I - who will read your blog and follow your story.
It is these people who will ask you about your progress if you disappear.
It is these real people who become interested in you, so much so that you never want to let them down.
So in a crazy way, writing a blog gives you a support network.
3) Building a blog gives you pride of accomplishment
The great thing about a blog is that you can see the rewards of your work and the fruits of your labor.
When a blog article is done, nobody else will get the credit - only you.
Unlike in an office environment where you have to share the credit with the sociopathic manager or the idiot who did none of the work, on a blog all of the credit goes directly to the blog creator/author.
4) A blog business can give you freedom
Many people dream of one day quitting their job to travel the world or just be a beach bum.
That's exactly what I dreamt of many years ago.
I'd drive to my job hating life, dreaming of being free on some beach somewhere sipping a coconut and loving life.
Then?
I took my dreams a step further and I made them become a reality.
How?
The blog allowed me the freedom to travel the world for nearly 8 years.
5) Blogs can help you find friends
I never dreamed that one of the biggest benefits of starting a blog would be finding lifelong friends.
But that's exactly what happened.
I've now got friends in many different countries in the world.
Know why?
They found the blog, they liked it, they emailed me, we met and became fast friends.
This has happened to me countless times.
Finding friends was never on my to do list - I only wanted to escape the rat race - but knowing have friends everywhere has been a great blessing.
6) Blogs continue to pay you, even when you don't work
Want to take a day off from your office job?
You better pretend to be sick so your boss will buy it when you call in “sick.”
But let's pretend you're in the blog business and want to take a day off.
What do you do?
You take the day off.
There is nobody to answer to.
And in fact, you will find that time spent away from your blog only builds more interest in you and your work.
I found this out by accident.
For many years I was a perfectionist and would only release perfect articles.
Sometimes this meant I released only one article per month.
Can you guess what happened?
My readership grew and grew and grew.
It is not true that you have to always be publishing to make money and make your mark.
All you have to do is publish good articles.
Really. That's it.
7) Blogs let you express your creativity
In the working world, your creativity is usually stifled.
If you have an idea that is “outside of the box” people do not appreciate it.
Often, they actually scold you for thinking outside of the box.
As if to say, “How dare you think of new ways to accomplish our goals!”
But with a blog you are rewarded for creative thinking.
Because when people are online they are not confined to the same rigid social codes they are confined to in “the real world.”
Online, people appreciate new and creative modes of thought and ways to do things.
In fact, where creativity does not pay in the real world, creativity pays big in the blog world.
8) Blog are the easiest and cheapest business to start
To start a blog only costs a hosting fee.
This is usually $5-10 per month.
The hosting fee is the same as paying rent in the real world.
Rent for your blog is way cheaper than rent for a storefront business.
The hosting cost is the ONLY startup fee to start a professional blog.
Not only is starting a blog cheap, it is fun.
When you start a new blog you get to learn new things. Things you were never taught in school.
It is a grand experience learning the ins and out of the blog business.
Not only is starting a blog cheap and fun, it is EASY.
Literally anybody with a computer can start a blog. Even you.
9) “But I'm not technical, how can I start a blog?”

PS - If you DO start a blog this year, be sure to go into MONK MODE to get the most accomplished.

I’m going to start a blog in the New Year. I have a problem where I think obsessively about ideas and history, and I end up just daydreaming and mentally masturbating to those ideas. I end up just pacing and thinking about my thoughts and it consumes so much time that could be put to use better. And the worst part is that I often revisit ideas & thoughts to just mentally jerk off to them.
I’ve found that by writing the ideas & stories down as articles, I stop dwelling about the ideas as much or even entirely (at least to the point that I don’t daydream constantly about them).
My mantras this next year are going to be “pray” and “write it down”. Prayer to focus & control my thoughts and writing ‘articles’ down so I don’t dwell on them.
I don’t have enough ‘hands’ in my brain to hold onto all of my thoughts & ideas, so I’m going to put them on a ‘shelf’ as a blog.
In 2019, I will not be a daydreamer, but a day-doer.
I’ve learned in my several years of blogging is that the more focused your blog is, the harder it is to make serious money in the long run. It also seems to helps if you cover topics that last forever, like VP has mentioned.
A blog like B&D that covers many popular topics that will be helpful forever makes the most sense.
A blog about just one game that is 12 years old makes it much tougher to rake in the dough.
However, my blog is a hobby that I’ve enjoyed helping others with while some popular topics may not interest me, thus my lack of knowledge and lack of passion about these subjects makes it harder to stick with the blog/business.
I guess in summary: think long term with what your blog is about as the bigger it gets, the more money that comes in, certain topics will speed this up.
You live your life either way, might as well monetize it with a blog business.
Happy new year Victor!!! :)
I registered this blog with Badnet in December 2017 and didn’t publish anything until November 2018.
And I can say without a doubt that it’s been an excellent improvement to my life.
I’ve yet to make a penny on it but it’s kept me accountable and helped me process a lot of things that have helped me with my other businesses.
It’s one thing to write your progress down in a journal but it’s another to publish it online.
I recommend everyone have a blog if not multiple. Even if you don’t publish under your own name.
Your blogging and business content has always been inspirational to me. Keep up the good work.
Great article, full of truth, every single one of the points are true.
Thanks so much for this, Victor. New year, new me for sure :-)
I have been working on, and literally started “The Points Habibi” yesterday on Jan 1, 2019.

Blogs allow me to express my intelligence to the world so that other people can benefit from it.
A blog allows you to ship your intellectual product to a store, known as a website. Otherwise, it’s stuck in your head - a warehouse.
I concur that the blog business is an excellent business to get into.
I started my blog about 4 years ago after Victor’s prompt. It still pays me good fu money today. I haven’t published an article in over a year. It doesn’t matter. I still get paid for the work I had put in in the past.
The craziest thing about the blog business in my experience, was that it propelled me to different kinds of businesses altogether. Those made me a multi-millionaire.
It would never have happened, if I hadn’t started my blog after finding Bold&Determined.
I used guidelines from your ebook and created this blog . I started it 1 month ago and already have the first client
After many years of reading b&d i’ve finally used badnet and started my own blog and i couldnt be happier. So thanks for the help and the years of being a mentor.
My man.
After reading through just about every.single.post on B&D about blogging, I decided to start my blog as well.
I work as a web design/developer and have spent the last few weeks simply working on the colors palette and design of my blog.
Its been one of the best things i’ve done so far this year and definitely an accomplishment.
Either way i’ve made a decision to be committed to my blog and write and work on posts daily even though I will only publish one of two a week. I write in my journal anyway and usual bleed into but now I have a platform that I can specifically do this on.
As I go forward I do wonder about making from it versus something ecommmerce. Victor, do yo have thoughts on blogging versus focusing specifically ecommerce? — I personally think blogging has longivity versus ecommerce but interested to hear your thoughts as well as others.
Hey Victor,
During the transition between the year 2018 and 2019 I had felt enough sense of purposelessness, I knew that I needed to create something, to work on something and what I did was that I listened to my heart, I always felt an urge to create videos and articles about the topics and insights I have thought about.
After reading B & D and getting inspired and obtaining courage from you and many other strong figures, I created my first article, then my first video, then the second and the third.
Now, after 5 months I have a solid foundation of my blog and channel that I can shape around as I want to, however I am not sure how well the current theme resonates with the content that I am making on BlueprintFreedom.
As a veteran blogger, do you think that the visual look goes together with the content that I am making?
Everything looks fine. The content is far more valuable than the look. Concentrate on creating great content and how your site should look will come about naturally.
