You know, friends, there was a time when I would have said “Guys that work out are just compensating for having a small dick“.
I would have said “Getting fit doesn't mean anything. I'm smart. I'm funny. That's all I need. Muscles are for guys who are too stupid to form a sentence“.
Today, at the gym I was confronted yet again with the reality of it.
Being jacked changes everything. It changes you in ways you can't even imagine 'til you get some weights in your hands and muscles on your body.
When you get a little bigger and get a little stronger and get a little leaner you know what happens? You get more respect from people.
Random people start deferring to you.
You get more smiles and stares from the girls.
You start to get respectful head nods from random guys.
Being smart and funny and nice and cool is great and all, but it doesn't get you respect from strangers and awe from women.
When you hear someone say “Being fit doesn't mean anything! It doesn't make any difference.” you can be sure of one thing: They have never, ever, ever been fit and experienced what it's like. Because once you've been fit, boy, you know it changes everything. It changes your confidence level and it changes other people's perception and respect for you. That ain't no joke.
It's like a poor person saying “Money doesn't change you“. Boys, having a little money in your pocket changes you and having a little muscle on your frame changes you. Without question.
Today at the gym I was going to use a rope for some triceps pulldowns. I walked over to where it was and asked the fella near it if he was using it. He said “Yeah, but only like one more set“. I nodded my approval and walked to the other side of the gym to the other pulley apparatus. The fella finished up his set, removed the rope pulley and walked it all the way across the gym and handed it to me.
Leaving the gym the pretty little blonde girl at the counter gives me a big, bright shining smile and I walk out into the rain. I'm not about to run to my truck, I'm not about to put my gym bag over my head. I'm gonna walk in the rain and let it wash over me, 'cause I'm alive boy, and it feels great.
I get out to my truck and start the drive home and on the radio is some song crying about bullies. Bully this, bully that blah blah blah. I think to myself, “Why are these little babies singing about bullies when they could be in the gym getting stronger?”. Bullies only pick on the weak so they decide to sing about it? There's time for crying about bullies (never) and there's time for action.
Right now is that time.
Body of a Spartan, my own personal workout, diet, routine and advice is now available! In all the time of this blog I have never once written about my own routine, but it's available now.
I have been pumped up about this release all day, just waiting for midnight to get it out.
I tried to keep it short and succinct like all my other work but the damn thing came in at over 100+ pages. Of course, I do have pictures of each and every exercise for easy reference.
I also threw in a special little free bonus.
Follow it and you can expect some jacked-ness to occur.

PS - You can go to the sales page here to read more about it (and maybe see an old picture or two of skinny Victor). Enjoy.

Fuck. Yes.
This is a quality product - I’ll even say a much greater improvement on the last $7 on 7. This exceeded my expectations! Get it now people! Very detailed work out info, with quality pictures too. Original content that is worth the money
Gracias, amigo.
Woke up early in the morning so I could download this before heading out to class. Been waiting for a long time it seems. And the 7 bucks for 24 hours is a great idea too, because otherwise I would not have bought it at all, having very limited funds.
I am glad that $7 special can help out. I just know that, even if I were low on funds, if someone who’s work I was really into offered their work for $7 I would make damn sure to pick it up.
Cool blog too.
Fantastic book Vic, blows everything else out of the water. Already 1/3 the way through.
Gracias.
Gotta say, man. I bought the book last night (or this morning, whatever you want to call it), got hooked, I read it in one sitting. I just got back from my first spartan workout about half an hour ago and I can honestly say that was the best workout I’ve ever had. I’ve never gotten such a huge pump and never felt so satisfied after finishing it. While I don’t always agree with your politics, your fitness stuff is always fucking on point and Body of a Spartan definitely continues that trend, I can’t wait to get back to the gym tomorrow. Congrats on the kick-ass book, and now I’m off to go eat some steak and eggs.
Boom! Love to hear that!
Thanks Victor. Been looking for a good bodybuilding guide that is actually honest and effective in practice. Generous price too man, feeling psyched already.
Kick ass man.
Also, about that bonus. I actually began doing that exercise for an 8×8 scheme, taking only five deep breaths between sets, all based off Vince Gironda’s ideas as well. That stuff kills, but I like the way it developes the chest. Makes it look like a wide slab of meat, instead of a moob.
8×8 works well too. You’re right, instead of moobs, it makes the like wide slabs of beef.
Victor,
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and love your work. Picking up BoaS today!
I want to confirm everything you’ve said in today’s post (and where you’ve stated it before) for anyone who may be sitting on the fence about following your guidance. Being strong and physically fit produces immeasurable gains in one’s confidence, mental well-being, and the way in which others react to you. Personally, I’ve experienced a hundred fold all of the examples you cite.
When I was younger and in the Army, fitness was something that was just part of the job so I didn’t think about it that much. Get up, do hundreds of push-ups, run 10 miles and then go to breakfast, no sweat. After I got out and started to sit behind a desk all day, made bad food decisions (or the same ones as before, just without burning it off), sat on countless airplanes, and ate way too much at business dinners I started to look and feel like someone else. I wasn’t me anymore. One day I just got sick of it and hit the gym. For a few days it sucked and was difficult to self-motivate, but push through that and it grows upon itself.
A boost in self confidence is the benefit that hits most quickly. You may not look different after two days but you begin to carry yourself differently, like a MAN. Without question, a confident and positive mental attitude is what makes you successful in life, what makes you push yourself to the next level, and which dictates how others see you. Are you a pussy or someone that can get it done? When you walk into a meeting room full of others who sit behind their desks all day, are on too many airplanes and eat too much, but you FEEL like you could pick up any one of them and throw them against the wall, you carry yourself in that manner. Even if you just started in the gym and you can’t actually do that yet, just having that confidence sets you up for success.
As I continued to work at it and my body transformed from the blob it had become into muscle I personally experienced all of those examples you’ve cited. If I was unintentionally standing in the way of someone but clearly blocking them, they apologized to me as if they were in the wrong. Men start asking your permission repeatedly for nothing, they move aside when you are walking in a store, they don’t interrupt you, they were at the water fountain first and you walk up, they stop and let you go. I went to a dinner with a couple Goldman Sachs guys and I was their master; one says “I thought we were going to dinner, not the gun show.” Just a polite smirk from you is all that’s necessary. Girls start coming out of the woodwork. I experienced everything from an increase in smiles and looks, to ones moving across a bar just trying to brush up against me or touch my arms and chest in a crowd, to ones throwing themselves at me.
Over the last couple years I fell out of my routine and began to fall back into a hole. Then, by chance, I found Bold and Determined, which has relight my internal fire and provided me the motivational boost I needed. Based on some of your posts I have been able to recognize the bad habits that had creeped in, adjusted my diet, and got me to refocus on self-dicipline. I am really looking forward to using BoaS on that journey.
One Shot, One Kill!
GREAT comment! I have made this the featured comment in the sidebar so everyone can read it.

hey Victor, This guide is amazing even for a seasoned lifter. What’s going to happen to my body combining 4x a week BJJ with 4x a week lifting according to the guide? Beast mode?
You guess it, beast mode. I used to train with weights 6 days a week and bjj 4 days per week. My typical meal would be about 5 lbs of chicken wings washed down with some beer.
FYI - BJJ was the best cardio I have ever done. It’s way more intense than it looks.
Victor,
I love the book. It’s a great plan that I will certainly be implementing. I have a question: Should I use the same weight and reps/sets for bicep curl and triceps extension exercises, and the same weight and reps/sets for bench press and bent-over row exercises for functional and aesthetic symmetry?
Thanx for a great training plan!
No, the same weight is not needed for bis/tris and chest/back. Often, your tris will be stronger than your bis and back will typically be stronger than chest (or maybe vice versa there). You want to use the heaviest weight you can use for each exercise and not worry about matching weights between the two muscle groups.
Bought the book and thought it was good. I do have a question though: you say that tradtional bodybuilding workouts (ie: 1 bodypart per workout)only benefit those on steroids. Why do you think this? I always thought roids help recovery between workouts. So wouldn’t it make sense that the natural lifter, needing more recovery between workouts, should benefit from the one bodypart per week while the roid guy could do more volume more frequently? I’m not trying to be an asshole, I’m just genuinely curious what your thoughts are about that.
D.
Nah, the nattie doesn’t need less recovery, he needs more work. The juice head can do LESS WORK and get better results. One bodypart per week just isn’t enough stimulation for a natural trainer.
Hi Victor:
Book rocks…Thank you for this great resource!

2 weeks in, boom, squat went from 140 to 150, bench up 10, feel bigger, look bigger, this is the absolute pinnacle transition workout from things like starting strength which i plateaued on last month. body of a spartan cuts through all the shit and gives you exactly what you want to hear for $7. absolutely perfect.
Boom!
Damn glad to hear it.
Hey, Would this be helpful to me as a vegetarian?
Singh,
You asked what would be helpful as a vegetarian. Can you eat eggs? Maybe non fertilized eggs? What about fish?
If you can eat eggs you can be ok, just eat a lot of eggs. And payments are in usd.
Yeah I’ve been eating egg whites, I probably wont eat the yolks tho, and no I cant eat fish. I just thought this ebook would involve a lot about non vegetarian stuff which wont be useful to me
Thanks
Why do you eat the whites but not the yolks?
Whites have all the protein tho? Well I eat white cause they protect and give nutrition to the chick, while the yolk was made for the purpose of living, while the white was made for feeding and protecting.
Mother nature has provided a perfect whole food source. Whites have only half the protein and none of the essential fat or good cholesterol. You need protein, but probably more importantly you need fat. All the goodness is in the whole egg.
Eating yolks gets you yolked.
Hey victor, so will body of a spartan be helpful to a vegetarian like me as I guess it would contain a lot of stuff about non vegetarians which would be useless to me?
Helpful? Yes, the workout will be helpful but if you want to eat leaves and plants and rice instead of complete proteins with essential amino acids and essential fats then you are facing an uphill walk.
Also I just came across this site, would there still be a discount? and also are the payments done in USD?
Hey victor, Could I use machines as an alternative in the gym or I should stick to the barbells. I’m having trouble with squats.
Can I just do Bench Press, Barbell Rows, Deadlifts, and Squats everyday?
Or should I work Chest/Back one day, and Legs/Shoulders on the second day?
Hey Victor,
Excellent plan. I bought it and started it 1 month ago and its going pretty well!
I have a question though. I am on TRT but at the moment i am blasting at 400mg test only a week for 10 weeks.
I saw in some of your posts you said that people on juice should train differently. Do you recommend for my blast (10 weeks) i do the typical bodybuilding training which is monday - chest tuesday - back , wednesday - bicep tricep etc
OR do you recommend i stay on your program (with any tweaks?)? I tried researching which is the best method to train while on juice but there 2 much information conflicting each other. Wanted to get your thoughts mate.
Thanks
Hey Vic,
Will 2 meals a day of protein first and then carbs and fats be enough getting big/bulking? Everyone says we need protein every 2 hours, the body need amino acids thats why 6 meals is recommended?
God Dammit Vic!
I wished I would’ve stumbled upon your site years ago.
At the start of 2014, I decided to get back into shape after a 5 year hiatus from the gym due to a shoulder injury. Yes, I was a “muscle magazine victim” and managed to follow their program religiously to no avail, as it changed from month-to-month. Anyways, after my injury I pretty much gave up.
In late 2013, after pushing pencils for the last 5 years, I told myself that I needed to make a change. However, when I first started looking for programs to get back into shape, I stumbled upon Stronglifts. It was great for me because I worked out only 3 days a week and I saw some considerable gains in my strength. That was good and all, but I still had lagging bodyparts and did not have that full muscular look.
So, around March, I actually diverted from the Stronglifts program a bit by working on supplemental exercises on my off days. Finally, I started to see some size in my arms, shoulder, traps, etc. Then, as luck with have it, I stumbled upon your site while searching for old school bodybuilding techniques.
I bought “Body of a Spartan” earlier today-after reading “30 Days of Discpline” all night-and it does NOT disappoint at all. Your training methods makes so much sense and was exactly what I had been looking for all along. My only regret is that I did not discover it sooner.
Keep up the Great Work!

Hello. How would BoAS work in a short endomorphic guy?
Thanks.
Mesomorph*
I screwed.
Hi victor. I have a question for you. Why don’t you sell your books on amazon kindle? Wouldn’t that add to your sales?
best regards
Damian
Yo Vic, I cannot seem to purchase Body of a Spartan. No matter what device I use it only gives the option to pay by pay pal.
JK I got it figured out.
I’m a busy man on a budget. I have Kindle Unlimited primarily for my kid (single father) and have not paid more than $4 for a book since I can remember.
I’m buying Body of Spartan. Vic is the real deal (even the supplements pushed are ones he himself believes in, uses, and stands behind). Besides, psychology tells us that we are more likely to stick to something if we pay for it. I have personally never wasted a gym membership, for example.
The high frequency thing - okay, I’m as “hard gainer” as you can get. Vic can touch his fingers around his wrist. Mine overlap an inch, and I’m the same height. Feel my ectomorph pain? Get your TRT check. If you are 40+ like me do it NOW. WTF are you waiting for? You are two decades away from a 10 year slide into death or senility - and that’s if things go well for you, bro. We are one and done on this cruel Earth.
My T level came back at 262. Now I’m self-injecting 200 (mil?) of artificial testosterone into my glutes on doctor orders each week, all nice and legal. Our fallen brothers in Western Europe (pre-Caliphate) don’t even have access to artificial testosterone (I think Merkel banned it or something). Take advantage! Do you seriously think the Spartans would not be using T if they were still around?
I will click “order”, and gladly contribute a small amount toward Victor’s biz class travel, Whole Foods, and edible-lingerie-for-my-bikini-model-girlfriend budget. Tomorrow I will go on the program. Later, I will post my before and afters and check back with the man (Mr. Pride) on my progress.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Lastly: if you are in the US, vote TRUMP 2016 - our final hope.
Great comment Ronald!
