Let me paint the picture…

We were at the shopping mall.

Two girlies were eye-balling us and giggling as they sat with their little male friend (who I assumed was gay but wasn’t).

Then Mike asked a rhetorical question…

He asked “Why wouldn’t you want to be big“.

With no real answer, I said “I don’t know“.

But here’s a better answer for you, in detail…

Summary of this podcast:

Here are some benefits of building a body that impresses: You’ll earn more money, people respect you more, women love big strong men, and people don’t notice you when you’re small.

“Your body is like your resume.”

It’s the first thing people see and it is what people look at when they form an impression about you.

It takes time and dedication to be big, which makes lazy people wonder, “Is it worth it?”

I used to be skinny-fat and Mike used to be regular-fat. We have the perspective to understand how changing your body will change your life.

How long does it take to build a body that impresses?

Everyone has a genetic limit and once you reach those limits the only way to get bigger is to….? Listen and find out.

3 Keys to Building a Body

  • Food
  • Training
  • Hormones

There are three types of bodybuilders/fitness types

  1. Regular guy - Goes to gym, sort of puts in some time
  2. Superman - Takes it to the next level and goes above and beyond with diet and exercise
  3. Mentally ill - Extreme bodybuilders who suffer from body dysmorphia/Bigorexia.

What do competitive bodybuilders go through to maintain that physique? A lot.

Bodybuilding should enhance your life, not rule your life.

What look are you going for with your body?

Greek statue vs burly lumberjack.

Is there money involved in building a physique?

Yes and no.

A famous YouTube bodybuilder only earned only $4,000 a month from his body.

“Join your mind and body and become whole.”

How to boost your immune system with juicing.

I recently had blood-work done and my lymphocyte count was low, which means my immune system was suppressed.

How do you train differently as you age?

Beginners need a program. Advanced trainers train instinctively.

When you’re older you develop muscular density, which helps you look big even when you don’t have a gym pump.

Once you’ve built your body, you can do less work and look better at the same time.

What happens when you train too hard for too long?

Sometimes you must take a break when “life” steps in.

  1. First comment.

  2. Awesome!

  3. “Your body is like your resume.”

I agree with this so much. Your body image says so much about you. And it’s not only your fitness level, but everything from the clothes you wear to how it fits you. I personally believe that men shouldn’t wear clothes that’s too tight or too baggy. I believe the “fitted” look is best. Of course, if you have a bad body, the fitted clothes won’t do s*** for you.

Regarding the Zinc supplement, I started taking Zinc Picolinate recommended by Victor and can definitely feel the difference. Better sleep, better workouts, and an overall sense of well being. I’ve been looking into taking 5-HTP.

Thanks for the podcast guys! I’m looking forward to Bad Guy Bodybuilding.

    -Alex
    http://www.inertiawillhurtya.com

    • 5-HTP raises serotonin levels in your gut and some goes to your brain. If your going to go low on the carbs, 5-HTP is a great sup to have in your arsenal to keep you up. That’s my opinion anyways.

      • Thanks for sharing, Justin. I was reading more about it online and ordered a bottle before reading your reply. I’m excited to see how it works for me.

        -Alex
        http://www.inertiawillhurtya.com

      • 5-HTP does help to restore Serotonin levels in dieting fitness folks. After a protracted diet where calories and carbs are restricted- serotonin is depleted. Using 5-HTP at night before bed at 200mgs or so is extremely beneficial to restore proper brain chemistry.

    • Hey Alex, would you mind leaving some Twitter profile here? I’d like to add you in one of my Twitter lists.

  4. I am looking forward to listening to this on my walk later tonight.

By the way, I really like how you did the summary for the podcast in this post. Great example for anyone else out there trying to figure it out.

    • Fucking love when podcasters do this. Definitely gives you the opportunity to see the key topics that are discussed, and you know if they’re applicable and valuable to you.

      Saves time, helps the listener.

      Bing. Bang. Boom.

  5. What you see on the outside determines what’s on the inside.

  6. Still listening to the broadcast, but one thing popped into my mind when you were talking about the beta types that think “Why would I want to be big? Those guys are just dumb meat heads with tiny dicks.”

If you think you are smart and have it all going on downstairs, why not seal the deal with some musculature? Why limit yourself by staying small and scrawny? Are you afraid a few pounds of muscle is going to make your dick and brain shrink? No. Getting stronger can only help you. Like Vic said, it helps with how others perceive you, but even more importantly, it helps with how you feel about yourself. You can’t tell me you won’t be strutting around a bit, if you look in the mirror every morning and the first thing you see is your awesome physique.

    Now…back to the broadcast.

  7. YEAHHHH!! This made me even more pumped to get into the gym this afternoon and hit some big boy PRs on my deadlift!! Just gotta get these beef burgers in!

  8. Oh man can I relate to this in a major way.

A number of years ago I went “all in,” on fitness and gaining muscle. Heavy ass compound lifts, tons of protein, creatine and even a prohormone.

Ended up packing on over 20 lbs un under a year.

The effects were a joke. Girls would approach me. People would almost move out of my way when walking in public. People would say things like “well, you’re a big guy..I’m sure XYZ isn’t a problem for you.”

It’s totally engrained in people’s subconscious to give more respect and attention to people who are not only big in terms of muscles, but also have enough self respect to take care of themselves.

On that note, I’m off to the gym!

  9. I’m Skinny(not skinny fat), I started Starting Strength 7 weeks ago. I can feel the difference, my back isn’t sore anymore from sitting at my shitty desk at work. i have actual muscles on my legs, my arms, chest, shoulders are bigger. Its great I’ve gained 15lbs from eating a little more than normal and drinking lots of milk, 1/2 gal to 1gal a day.

Just curious, what are you best lifts Squat/Bench/Deadlift/Press?

  10. Non-sense.

Having a body might capture women’s attention but that don’t mean you’ll automatically get the girl. I know lots of buff dudes who have no game and can’t get any chicks. I know lots of buff dudes who are insecure and have no confidence.

As far as the rest is concerned though it is good to stay fit, and build muscle but it’s easier said than done. Some guys bust there ass and go to the gym and stay stuck spinning his wheels naturally. Some guys (skinnier) have a tougher time building muscle, maybe it’s because they aren’t eating enough, maybe they aren’t lifting enough , or maybe they just have low T. There are a lot of variables to it.

Now a lot of the guys that are walking around buff have not only the time and leisure to work out, but they also have a good budget for food, and vitamins and supplements, and let’s forget, a lot of these guys walking around buff acting natural when the real reality is they are on steroids.

Other than that interview it’s good stuff, there are just a ton of variables to getting big and it’s not as easy as it sounds there is a lot of sacrifice in order to get real results.

  11. You ever have an imbalance where one side is bigger than the other? I’m right-handed, and my whole right side, pecs, arms, shoulders, is noticeably bigger than the left. What do you think is the best way to balance this out?

I’ve been simply focusing my mind on my left side during all my lifts, and this is working a bit. Just looking for some pointers from you and any other experienced lifters here. I don’t like the idea of adding sets to my left side or using more weight on the left, but if that’s the only way you can think to balance the left side out, I’d give it a shot.

BTW I’ve been lifting 3-5 times per week, heavy, for 5 years now.

    • do an extra set for each exercise only on the left side

    • My left side is bigger than my right even though my right side is the dominant. I’ve been to the chiro, orthopedist, got x-rays, all of them dismissed as nothing much. But I felt my performance and symmetry were suffering and I was feeling too “left-bound”. A while ago I took my time looking at the mirror and moving around and finally found what for me were the problems, mainly 2:

1- Not fully exhaling. Most people are in a state of constant inhalation. Fully exhaling puts your pelvis in the correct neutral position, effectively activating your abdominal muscles for proper posture. For me I feel a noticeable contraction right between the obliques and lower abs, as if I had strings pulling me into the right place (think Conan O’Brien doing that silly string dance). Also thinking long chest as opposed to chest up seems to help.

2- Forward head posture. This one was the main culprit. As soon as I would tuck my chin infront of the mirror, together with proper ab support and glute activation, my whole body would fall into complete symmetry. I found that adding chin tucks throughout the day to promote posture translated to better performance, and very fast and noticeable improvements bodywise. I should mention my right side (the smaller one), was slight lower than the left. I now use the neutral neck position while lifting and it just feel right, and I feel the right side working alongside the left, while before the left would take over. Now with a bit more training and time I know the right will catch up.

Google neutral neck, neck packing and chin tuck, particularly things written by Eric Cressey and also Mike Robertson. Also abdominal bracing vs arching (same authors). I feel like a new person after learning this, even in how I carry myself and my confidence (which was already high), is even higher. Hope I helped

    • Andrew Martin says:

Using dumbbells, and keeping the weight the same for both sides helps for me.

  12. I have been finding it really difficult to bulk up. I gained 10 kilos of pure muscle in a few months but now I’m stuck and haven’t made much progress, even though I do my best to eat as much as possible. I started counting calories and actually find it really difficult to get at least 4,000 calories in. In order to get as much as I need, I’ll need to be shoveling everything I find into my mouth.

I know the only way to get big is to train hard (and add more weight) and eat like a dinosaur but I’m not sure how to do it. It seems like cooking at home makes it pretty much impossible to get all the calories. Anyways, awesome article, I’ll listen to the podcast when I have some time. I just bought your 30 days of discipline book, failed day one, but tomorrow is another day!

    • Try adding this stuff in between meals: Peanut butter and jelly, a bowl of yogurt and nuts, egg whites, bananas, chili. If you are skinny and lifting heavy you won’t get fat by adding more food. How do I know? I’m skinny. I’ll buy a huge container of yogurt and crush that in between meals/all day.

I live in Philly and there’s a store here called Wawa. It’s shitty food, but you can get a carton of 6-7 meatballs for around 4 bucks. They also have something called “bowls” which is basically a bowl of lettuce with a ton of chicken salad thrown on top.

Two words for you: Crock Pot. Throw a bunch of shit in a crock pot and let it sit all day. Then you have a lot of food to consume. Don’t be afraid of carbs and try and eat double for your main “square” meals.

Typical meal plan for me: Get up and eat breakfast-bunch of eggs, vegetable juice, some kind of fruit such as bananas etc, throw some beans in. Lunch-eat either two sandwiches, or bag of vegetables with some chicken breasts, or a tuna wrap. Dinner-chicken breasts again with some kind of bag of rice or something, steak and eggs, duck and rice. In between, try to crush some yogurt, protein shakes, some kind of snacks.

Maybe this will help, but if you start looking at food as fuel to get big instead of something to eat, you may have less aversion to funneling it down your throat. If you’re skinny, gotta start pushing your body. I just wish someone told me this in high school.

Take a look at dudes like LA Beast and Kobayashi, they got big and are competitive eaters. Yes their diet consists of a lot of shit, but they said fuck it and used all those extra calories to their advantage and are both lifters.

I gained about 10 lbs in the last couple months and my lifts are going up each time I go to the gym. Breaking plateaus I have had for years. Listen to your body and if you are hitting a plateau, add more food. Then hit the weights again. Every time I do this, I break the plateau.

Hope this makes some kind of sense.

      • Thanks a lot, it does make sense. I have been eating eggs like crazy but I think I need to include more chicken and beef to get in some extra nutrition. Thanks for your response, a lot of great tips that I’ll have to implement!

        • Fantastic job on the initial gains, Timothy!

From your results, it’s clear that you know what it takes to pack on the mass but you’ve physically reached a point where it’s extremely uncomfortable to eat more volume of food.

At this point eating “more” isn’t a practical solution. As Vic says “bodybuilding is supposed to enhance your life, not control it.” So force feeding yourself isn’t a great path.

You need more calorie dense foods. As Tate mentioned, “don’t be afraid of carbs.” Although far from health food, I would recommend that you add some liquid carbs like Gatorade to your diet.

One 32 oz Gatorade is going to give you an extra 400 calories and will have little impact on your appetite. If consumed daily, this is enough to get the scale moving again.

          Hope this helps!

  13. I think tbh its more of a case of if you are tall than ‘big’ that really makes the difference. When you are tall people assume you are more capable even if you arent. I know plenty of tall men that are out of shape and dont look good that still get more respect than more capable physically stronger males simply for being tall. Being big and muscled is fine but its up to a point, there is no way in hell women find guys like Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman etc attractive just because they are huge. I think Victor and Mike probably are at the right balance as neither are ‘huge’ but hey are bigger than average.

  14. Nice post, really enjoyed it, advanced trainers train instinctively is right on the money.

Looking forward to the next one.

  15. This just motivated me as fuarrrkkk!!!!

  16. LoicFlameng says:

Vic, start eating more salt. Bloating, cramping, … I guess you also have to pee a lot & don’t sweat so much. Try it. Eat more salt.

    • too much salt is not too good for your arteries I think.

    • Victor Pride says:

I’m aware of the salt intake issue, I have standing orders for my staff to cook all of my food with celtic sea salt. I do sweat a lot. I live in Vietnam.

      • LoicFlameng says:

Have you ever measured your blood sugar levels? High blood sugar levels create an osmotic imbalance in the arteries, which cause water to be drawn from various tissues, resulting in excessive water loss. It’s difficult to hydrate the body, when it’s constantly losing fluids. I had the same problem until a few days ago.

I fixed it. Now I don’t need too much salt & water.

        • Victor Pride says:

What did you do to fix it?

          • LoicFlameng says:

Eat more fat. The impact of fat on blood sugar is nihil. It does raise insulin, and has the possibility to cause insulin resistance, when you eat too much of it.

All carbohydrates will eventually raise blood sugar & insulin. Excess protein will be converted too sugar too, albeit slower.

A deathly combination with insulin resistance. Slowly elevating blood sugar levels over a couple of hours are a disaster insulin wise.

Insulin inhibits growth hormone & testosterone production. You get the picture. I don’t need to explain to you.

There is more to it, but the whole puzzle takes too much time. This is the essence.

Get a blood sugar meter & start measuring. Worst case scenario you can cross off one possible cause.

  17. Looking like you have muscle and using muscle are quite different.

So what if someone looks big and tough. If he works at an office and spends his time sipping beers at the bar, what is the point of muscle?
    ….
And then you two sort of covered that. Thank you.

I used to work airborne S&R, back then I needed muscle to move fast and be agile.
These days I train to climb mountains. I Backpack, snowboard, mountaineer, hike etc. I don’t want, or need to be huge.

So is there a difference between LOOKING big and being fit?

    Great entry chaps.

    • justfreedom says:

Great points. I used to be 220 at 5’9″ with 8% bodyfat. Ate 6 times a day, at the gym 2 times a day, and took the necessary accessories to get past my natural genetic limits of about 195 pounds. I was a slave to the bodybuilding lifestyle. Woman were actually intimidated by me. I passed up white water rafting trips because I was worried about missing meals. Mean while I had friends that were ex military special forces who took a more rounded approach to fitness, mixed martial arts, outdoor fun, etc. One buddy took out 11 people, one right after another being only 5’11 and 200 lbs he didn’t care about having 20 inch arms or being a pro bodybuilder. He spent his time becoming a lethal real world martial artist. He would have kicked my ass in the blink of an eye. I also used to get sick with much greater frequency when I ate 6 meals a day, I think it puts undo stress on the digestive system and the rest of the body. Today I am a lean mean 180. I can run a long ways, crush any of the pft tests that the military has to offer, skilled at hand to hand fighting, and I enjoy all of the outdoor activities that life has to offer. And woman get turned on because I am 36 without a guy a look good with my shirt off. I wish I would have known this when I was 20 couple, It would have saved me a lot of wasted time. On the flip side, I have great muscle memory without lifting.

      • justfreedom says:

Addenum line number 4 from the last. Woman get turned on because I don’t have a gut and look good with my shirt off.

  18. Would love tohear Good looking losers input on the obsessed bodybuilders mentality.

  19. Awesome podcast Vic, seriously looking forward to the BAD guy bodybuilding info.

I agree that osta shred looks like a good product, have you used it yourself?

  20. I had an experience similar to yours Mike.

I’m 6′ 2” and used to be 200 lbs of chewed bubblegum. I couldn’t do a single pushup. Then I lost the fat and got down to 165 lbs. I was extremely happy to not be fat anymore but I wasn’t complete. Now I’m up to 193 lbs with abs.

Next I’m after a little more size and a little less body fat for that statue look.

  21. Started working out and seeing the results immediately.

1- Guys will treat you better, no joking, ho shaming, just 100% respect

2- Girls will love you better, stare at you, minimize shit tests, blow you all the time

  22. matt ogus says:

Does this mean that we should ignore Matt Forney’s advice since he left himself go quite a bit?

  23. Thanks for the podcast. Always great to hear what you guys have to say. Got a question: how much fish oil do you take? Or how much would you recommend to take for joint support? Thanks.

  24. I never understand how people can expect to be treated well when you look like shit. If you look like shit you will be treated like shit, some people like that though I think, they don’t have a mission in life so they try to emulate the drama of this mission by going the complete opposite way, they don’t have the balls to actually grow so they decide they can get the attention by being some sort of martyr without a cause.

Anyway loving the blog, I think that with a blog your size, the fact that the posts are completed to perfection with a disregard for blogging frequency norms is a really risky choice that has payed off massively, I know that the second I see you have posted its like a scarce resource, causing me to read the post almost like scripture.

    Regards,

  25. Taking the gym seriously was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

  26. Inspired by this post I had to take a post-gym traps selfie; http://imgur.com/WOUtXGQ

On the serious though, I’ve also never understood why someone wouldn’t want a stronger, bigger, more awesome body. Ignoring how other people change towards you entirely, you just feel way fucking better and in charge of your life. Lifting teaches a lot of young guys, including me when I started, how to focus on something and diligently work towards getting results.

And then the physical effects make everything in life easier - except knowing your own strength when you accidentally crush instead of hug tiny girls.

But the way other people act around you DOES change. You command respect more easily, people move out of your way when you are walking, men want to be your friend, and women want to get in your pants.

And that’s pretty cool too, I guess. ;)

  27. Hus Grover says:

Very good stuff! I’m impressed by the comments and discussion between you and your guy.

I have been teetering over the decision of full body transformation into the world of bodybuilding. The potential there from a positivity perspective and the carry-over in other areas of someone’s life is pretty much endless. The look, the feel, the power, the healthy nutrition and weight training, all of that is open to anyone and can only give G-O-O-D results. I want to know as much as I can and hear your views on anything bodybuilding/health related.

Schwarzenegger’s “The Education of a Bodybuilder” is priceless motivation. I remember somewhere him mentioning that one’s physical stature does reflect positively concerning business, not just one’s personal life. I want to achieve my goal physique and the only advantage I can find for someone in my position as a beginner (damn) is the desire to want to work hard in the gym.

The information on juicing is really helpful, man. I know that’s taking off more and more; besides, who does not like drinking juice?

Professional bodybuilders sacrifice a lot. That’s the one way I look at it. I can’t knock someone for being the top in their field, whether or not they are “weird” or shaped a certain way. I can however knock someone who does not feel obligated to at least go through life looking like a winner.

  28. Fantastic podcast as usual, guys. Mike and Victor are unending sources of practical knowledge.

  29. Downloading the podcast now. This post is a lesson for bloggers. Links, products etc. all of them are put on post perfect.

  30. Victor, this is my favorite quotes from this rendition.
“Body building is not to ruin your life but to improve your life”.
“first impression matters, second impression matters and third impression matters”
    Thanks for sharing.

  31. Defs listening to this on my way to work! Boo yah!

  32. Pro hormones are steroids that were deemed too toxic to bring to market. Do your research before using as there’s no point if your heath is compromised. You can build a very impressive physique with smart training and nutrition. A good start would be to ignore all the bodybuilding magazines, know your body and look to nutrition gurus like Jerry Brainum and natural bodybuilders who truly know their stuff. Here’s a good vid on pro hormones and test.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBx-g0sQHL4

    • Victor Pride says:

You didn’t do any research Rich. They were deemed too toxic by others and you accepted it. I do research with my own body, you provide snark in internet comments. You also didn’t do any research on my views of pro-hormones, I have called them legal steroids for years now. Do your research, Rich, before you come to me with a know-it-all-attitude. You’re also quite naive, Rich, as those natural bb’ers you idolize are gear-heads and liars.

  33. Great podcast, telling my friends and co-workers about it. Thanks.

  34. Have you tried Myo-x victor? I started taking that after john doe made an article about it and I’m shattering my PRs… Today I was so pumped after listening to your podcast, I went to the gym and I broke my PR for weighted chin-Up (100 lbs for 5), 45 degree incline bench (195 x 5) push press (165 x 5) and bent row (235 x 7)… all in the same workout, I’m gonna be dead tomorrow but this shits works. it seems that it doesnt work for everybody but it sure works for me. now I see that Anafuse reduce myostatin too, it seems like good shit.

  35. Adam Huerta says:

    Vic, Mike,

Great podcast. Enjoyed all of the info you guys presented today. I appreciate the motivation and encouragement to become the best that I can be. I have joined the local gym by my house and have started the Body of a Spartan beginner routine and I feel great. I had been struggling with depression and didn’t want to do medication because of all the side effects… lifting weights has helped to show me who I am and who I must become.

I am also a Christian and lifiting has been very beneficial for my spiritual walk also. Your site has been an answered prayer, if you will. It has helped me to begin manifesting the spirit I needed in my personal relationship with Christ. I had begun to stagnate. Striving to perfect both mind and spirit has brought the balance and power that I was looking for and I sincerely thank you for being the vessels who brought the encouragement to me.

Through the inspiration you have brought through the things you have written, I have developed a solid understanding of what my purpose is, how I will begin my ministry and also how I will make a healthy living once it all comes to fruitation. It’s beautiful to see the pieces fall together.

It reminds me of the illustration I heard at church last night. A young girl awoke early one morning at a fancy hotel and went down stairs and sat at the grand piano and began to play one single note. At first, people thought she was cute. After 15 minutes or so, people began to become annoyed with the girl because she was still playing the same note. At that moment, a world renound piano player made his way into the lobby, sat next to her, and constructed a song around her single note that wowed everyone. Her persistance paid off and everything worked out beautifully. In the same way, I have been praying for my purpose, my goal, my mission to be made crystal clear. It has done so, thanks to the wonderful work you have done here and through the Word of God.

On another note… being a caffiene fiend of sorts myself… I enjoy a tea made from an herb called yerba mate. It was/is revered in South America as the “drink of the gods”. It contains a little less caffiene than a cup of coffee, but offers exponentially more health benefits. It is phenomenal. I hear it pairs very well with kratom also, though I have not tried it. Should be receiving my package in the mail very soon so I can give it a try… Give it a shot and let me know what you think… enjoy!

Thanks and God bless you all!

    In Christ,
    Adam

    • Victor Pride says:

Thank you for the comment, Adam. I have used yerba mate before. I like coffee better, though I’m starting to very much like matcha green tea.

      • Adam Huerta says:

Never heard of it… just looked it up. I will add it to my list of things to try. Sounds like a great addition!

Thanks, Vic. Keep up the great work, brother.

I will be in contact very soon to get your team to get a website set up for me. I look forward to beginning this adventure. I was up at 4:30 this morning writing down ideas for the new blog. I could not let myself sleep until I wrote everything down. Filled several pages with content and ebook ideas, etc. Once I had my purpose in sight, the ideas flooded in. It was a wonderful experience.

Side note… you might enjoy the content from an author by the name of Dr. Caroline Leaf. Check her out on youtube. She’s a cognitive neuroscientist with some great info to share on how to the mind and body link together. One of the many topics includes her studies on how the mind causes physical change in the brain and the effects of positive and negative thinking. Her work has been a powerful influence in my life also. As a man that enjoys learning how the mind works and how to best utilize it, you will thoroughly enjoy the science behind it. It is astonishing.

  36. Ben Garmon says:

If anyone needs a scrambled egg recipe here you go. Use a lot of butter (a square inch per 6-7 eggs) put that in the pan with some salt, pepper, and a little bit of sriracha. Mix up the eggs and put them in the pan on low-medium.

    • Hard to go wrong with butter and sriracha. I’ve been cooking my eggs over easy this week using liquid coconut oil.

A piece of buttered toast on the side to slather up the yolk and a piping hot cup of black coffee and you have yourself the start to a great day.

  37. a another question maybe more for mike, about vegetables juice, are powder formulas like these http://www.iherb.com/product-reviews/Jarrow-Formulas-Green-Defense-6-35-oz-180-g-Powder/128/?p=1 do the same job

  38. Top-Notch Podcast.

  39. Good job on this podcast. I definitely believe in being big, looking good, and the halo effect. You should look your best possible, as as you said Victor, that the first impression, the 47th impression matter.

  40. Victor I’m going through an injury also like you and I’m interested in what you said about eating while being out of the gym and staying in shape thru nutrition. Can you explain that? thank you.

  41. Seems like sarms are going to take the place of pro hormones. Did run a cycle of ostarine back when it was still sold as a research chemical.
Was way to young to be messing with ped:s, but that stuff does work.

Victor I know you’re on TRT, do you have any experience with gh / imaproline?
Or ever considered using it as a part of your HRT?

    /Axel

  42. Alexander says:

One of the reasons, your son takes your advice to do physical exercises. He sees the father knows what he is talking about.
Another reason, almost nobody comes back to find out what you meant by responding ‘fuck off’ to his blah-blah-blah in the street. And when one does, he will never move his finger to check what you have in store for him.

  43. You started your own style of blogging. Before V Pride bloggers were vegan pussies blogging about how unique culturally refined they were.
Anyway I noticed you previously did some articles on sports gambling which is actually what I do for a living. Feel free to check it out at http://johnnierisk.com/
Although we both know you’ve gotten too big (pun intended) for that kind of nonsense, maybe some viewers will find it interesting.
You don’t need to hear it again but you’re the best man. Keep it up.

  44. Hey Victor, awesome podcast. I enjoy listening to you and Mike talk because you each provide different perspectives, and they mesh together well. Anyone who says they don’t want to be big is most likely jealous and lazy. It’s kind of like a broke person saying that money doesn’t matter. The points you hit were solid. I would add that being big allows you more freedom in life. When you are in top shape you can physically do a lot more than other people. If you are on a hike and decide you want to climb something, you have the ability to do so. You can be more adventurous than everyone else. The rewards you reap from working on your body are well worth the work you have to put in.

One thing I noticed on this podcast was that your voice had a lot of bass. I know you have a deep voice, but it sounded like it might have something to do with the recording. It was hard to understand at times because it sounded muffled. Otherwise, great stuff Victor.

  45. When you combine being muscular with strong posture, confidence and eye contact - people notice. In business or just around town. You are shown respect and rarely messed with. A number of times I’ve had people who I have just met wonder if I was a cop, because of the way I hold myself. I just laugh and say, ” nope just a business man”

  46. I did a couple Prohormone cycles in the past. Now with the ban, joining the dark side is an easy choice. I love it, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to join the dark side.

  47. HI Victor,

You’re right. Being big does get you a lot of respect and influence. However I notice that most guys mistook being fat as being big.
Anyway, I really learnt a lot from the last portion where you discussed nutrients.

    Hope you recover soon

  48. Beautiful podcast guys.

  49. When I wear a shirt and walk the streets some men act as if they want to give me a push.
When I wear a tee and go for a stroll , men start making way for me from 4-5 feet away.
On days when I have exercised I feel fresh and energetic.
I work more and I work efficiently.

When I exercise , every tomorrow is a better day because I know that I have moved a day further into greatness.
But I exercise more and make a better body and lift a bigger bell not for a better tomorrow but for a better eternity
because these 20-30 years is forever for me.
If somewhere in eternity I get asked who were you when you were alive ? I want to point out to a person who looks like a statue.
    A better body gives.

  50. Pressure cookers are great for an athelete while training. You can throw all the ingredients in one big pot, add water, turn on the heat, and let set for 15 minutes when the pressure hits the line. You can cook enough food for a few days in less than an hour. Its good to have two though as beans need to be prepared alone. Plus it frees up rooom in the kitchen as only two pots are needed to cook all of your food. Using frozen vegtables can speed the process up even more since they can be just thrown in. A lot stores actually sell broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot mixes for a dollar to a dollar thirty. Any meat you use doesnt need to be defrosted either.

Best part is spices can be added after and just shake the pot up or stir it up and let it sit for a few minutes. Since the food is still hot butter melts in seconds and it has the same effect as cooking the food in butter. Hellps with making bigger portions too if you are on a fast and need to wolfish scarf down a meal. However, you cant cook a steak in one though.

  51. Great summary, and looking forward to listening to the audio tonight. I’m 12 weeks into Body of a Spartan, finally growing some real muscle and noticing the effects you’ve described above. It’s incredible.

Not at my goal weight yet, haven’t reached that pure muscle density yet, but I’m getting there and enjoying the ride. It’ll take as long as it takes.

    Thanks again Vic.

  52. You mentioned a long time ago in your article “How to Be a Free Man” that getting a 2nd passport is a good idea. But my question is, is it worth serving TWO YEARS in the South Korean military in order to do so? I’m a Korean-American, and in order for me to acquire a 2nd passport, I would have to serve the mandatory 2 years conscription. If I do, I would be able to freely do business in South Korea, and would probably be a lot more buff through all the military training. There’s definitely economic opportunities by doing this, but is the TWO WHOLE YEARS in opportunity cost worth it?? I could possibly be traveling the world or creating my own business during the two years. This question is bugging me so much.

Thanks and keep up the great work Victor.

    • In your words: “The US gumment is run by psychopath’s who care nothing for the average citizen. They will put their hand in your pockets every chance they get, right up until (and after) collapse. The worse things get, the more money they take from your pocket. For this reason, I see it as almost essential in getting at least a 2nd residency.

Some countries will offer citizenship or residency after several years of occupancy in their country. Some will offer citizenship with marriage to a national. Some will offer citizenship for a cash payment, investment, or home purchase in said country. There are a lot of options here.”

    • Victor Pride says:

It’s not worth it to me. Is it worth it to you? That’s rhetorical, I don’t need an answer.

  53. Hey Victor, I noticed that you didn’t mention liver tabs in this article. Did you forget to add it or did your opinion on the supplement change?

  54. Well said! I tweeted “I love the feeling I get when I see a man snatch on his girls arm when he catches her staring at mine! #BrazilianWeather #Tanktops #GunShow” while back. https://twitter.com/YusefWateef/status/573287358898049025

  55. Great podcast guys. Beeing big can also save your life. My boxing buddy was in car crash, basically smashing interior of car with his body as it was rolling then flying out through the window head first. The fact that he is build like a bull saved his life doctor told him. If he was some weakling he would smash every bone in his body.

  56. This is for anyone,

At 29 years old, 5’10, and 250lb, should I drop the fat first before I make the complete shift to get as big as I can or the other way around? Since it has been years since I have lifted, it makes sense to me to start my training by focusing on strength and the basic lifts. Hopefully that will that will help with muscle size as well. I want to get as big as possible, to reach my natural peak. Although I like Victor’s look but I would really enjoy Mike’s look just as much since we are the same in term of dieting struggles.

    Thanks

    • I was in a similar situation at 5’11” and 225 lbs before I began working out seriously. Don’t worry too much about size, just worry about eating better and actually physically using your body, the weight will come off as a result. It’s impossible for it not to (unless you have a medical issue). If you don’t have Vic’s Body of a Spartan book, I’d highly recommend purchasing it. It’s money well spent.
There’s a beginner routine in there that has you working out 4 days a week with 3 rest days. Follow that and only eat twice a day AT MOST, and make sure it’s a protein. Typically, I eat 3-5 cuts of salmon with a couple of eggs and maybe vegetables if I feel like it, but not always. I drink only water and nothing else, but I usually put a lemon in my water if I’m not drinking it during my workout.
Following just that routine with no cardio, I lost 20lb+ in just one month. My strength has increased and my lifts are all improving.
However, since I’ve been on vacation in sunny Florida for almost a week and haven’t been eating very good at all, I became so disgusted with myself that I am now going to follow Vic’s routine but do 20-30 minutes of cardio on every off day until I’m lean like a machine. No excuses anymore.
Once you lean out, you can introduce daily carbs back into your diet and cut out the cardio, but until then, just follow the simple program and let nature take its course. Good luck.

      • Thanks Connor. I do have his book but I just wasn’t sure which way to go first but what you said makes sense in that I need to lay a foundation of just eating better and moving my body (or pushing and pulling something lol). Once I get to my desire boy fat level then I can reintroduce carbs to focus on gaining muscle. It’s all about habits I guess.

        Thanks again!

  57. Hi, I heard Victor saying ” i want to look like a statue, with big arms. so i do what i do” . So my question is what you should do, to be lean 7 percent and still have big defined arms. Can you mantain this with food and basic suplements like whey protein, glutamin, bcaa, because i don;t want to use hormons or steroids, I’ m 23 .
Thank you Victor and your blog is awesome

  58. Being big is overrated. How many big guys with big guns and ripped abs are there? Millions and more to come. The real thing and what people respect is if you are a good fighter, special forces guy, mma champion etc but nowadays being muscular is so overrated and even gay guys are muscular. Its just another stupid trend to pretend you are powerfull.

    • a really impressive, intimidating physique is still pretty rare I think, well where I live its not common. Besides, I do want to take self-defense lessons at some point, what kind of discipline would be good for me considering the fact I cant afford to take big hit to the face, especially the nose, because of past surgeries? its a point thats holding me back in my confidence because I know that when shit hits the fan I gotta be really conscious about my face, If I was a good fighter I would be much more mentally dominant.

  59. Enjoyed the Pride-Cast from the two of y’all. I’ve been using a Pro-Hormone (Legal) for several months and through diet and hard work have been able to increase my bench by 70 lbs. I also just got my hands on Mike’s juicing books so I will be trying out juicing.

    My standard diet is:
    *Boneless Chicken breast
    *Brown Rice
    *Boiled Eggs
    *Salad

When I wanted to lose 20 lbs I followed this diet:
    * 5 eggs for breakfast
    * 1 lb of beef for lunch with broccoli
    * 2 cans of tuna

I still have some more weight that I need to lose, but I have seen results from the above meal plans.

    Your friend,
    Dylan

  60. Excellent podcast as usual, I’m glad you started to do more podcasts lately, I been reading your blogs for couple years now and still your posts are so interesting.
In my opinion being big for the sake of it is useless, you will just be another big idiot if you don’t have the proper mindset.
What’s interesting in working out on your body or bodybuilding, is what it does teach you about what it does take to reach your goals, all the sacrifices, discipline and motivation… before to achieve the body of your dreams.
A bodybuilder with a brain can do everything just look at Arnold.. lifting weights and working out give you more than muscles if you ready for it.
I agree with many of the things said in this podcast for sure.
Anyway for those hitting the gym hard you can get some extra motivation visiting my website http://iampumped.com/

  61. hackleech says:

haha victor is gonna talk about selective androgen receptor modulators, never would have guessed.
    looking forward to it

  62. I”m so glad that I found weight lifting…. It really helped me and it still continues to help me. Whenever I feel stressed out or “depressed”, I lift weights and workout without thinking about any negativity… I just let it fuel the energy into lifting that “one more last rep” before I either collapse or tire out and panting. After sweating my ass off, it’s very hard to feel “sad” … in fact the rush and the feeling I get after lifting heavy weights, it’s so indescribable. I lift weights everyday so it’s weird when I actually miss a workout… like I feel like my day was incomplete so I make a habit of not missing a workout day at all. We humans eat, sleep, drink water everyday so why miss a workout? It always baffles my mind when I see fat obese people squandering their life and time away. I also do not understand when I see frail weak men (not including handicaps.. I’m talking about able body men). I think every men with self respect should lift weights and try to be strong and take care of their body with right diet.

I totally hundred percent agree … STRONG MIND AND STRONG BODY …

The strength that I gain from lifting weights and working out gives me the feeling that “I can achieve anything as long as I put my mind and body into it”… it also helps me focus better and just feels better overall…

  63. Great post, I myself am 6’3 215, not quite as big as I’d like to be, but getting there. To most people, i’m massive, but I still feel like 10 more pounds would fill it out.

Being huge is nothing but benefits, aside the crapshoot it is of trying to find clothing.

By the way, vic, I made up a blog, through your hostgator set up. It’s called Master of Being, I’m curious to what you think of the name. It’s basically a blog dedicated to optimizing human physical and mental performance.

I have a bunch of articles written up but only one posted up thus far, I’m in the process of deciding on the short term and long term goals of the site.

    Check it out. masterofbeing.com
