From the desk of Victor Pride
Subj: Rock n roll rebel
—————-
A lot of young men ask “is there hope for me? I feel like a loser. I want success. I want what you have. How do I get it?“.
My inbox is flooded with these questions.
Here’s the deal…
When I was a young man I wanted to be a professional musician.
I spent every waking moment playing guitar, writing songs and recording songs.
Then “life” got in the way.
I got a job(s), I went to university, I moved into an expensive apartment, I went into debt and what was once an obsession went away.
The dream never went away, the action went away.
I stopped recording songs, I stopped pursuing music.
But it never left my heart and I always knew I’d made a huge mistake.
I’m in a position now where I could make music 24/7 (below is my musical message to the young go-getters).
But listen boys, I’m 32. I wasted my prime creative years as a wage slave dummy.
Why didn’t I pursue music?
I didn’t listen to my gut. I didn’t believe in myself and I gave up. Simple as that. Lesson learned.
But I found my way and I found my calling. Bold and Determined will never be given up. I don’t care about music as a career, B&D is my life calling and motivation is my art. Everything worked out for me.
What about you, is there “hope” for you?
No. Hope is for dreamers.
If you want it you take it. Forget about hoping and wishing and dreaming.
Take action every damn day that you’re alive and you’ll get what you want.
What if you’re old and already made big mistakes?
It’s never too late to turn it all around. Never.
Let me tell you what I did years ago…
I sold my house. I sold my car. I sold all my furniture and what didn’t sell I tossed into a garbage bin. I said goodbye to my dogs, my best pals, I moved to Asia and I lived in a $100 per month apartment.
I had a suitcase, a laptop and I had enough money to live for a year. In that year I didn’t make a dime from Bold and Determined. Instead, I concentrated on building a rock-solid foundation for Bold and Determined. Now the foundation is there, but it took me a year to build.
Then…
For four years I lived like no one else would.
I didn’t have a car for four years (still don’t, don’t need one), I lived in Asia for four years (still do), I didn’t spend money on anything other than travel and work expenses for four years, I never spent more than $500 on rent for four years.
I didn’t allow myself a single luxury for four years.
Now?
I lived like no one else would for four years, now I can live like no one else can.
Now I can buy anything I want. I can make up for lost time. There are no limits on my lifestyle anymore.
But I did my time doing the work.
So, friend, you may be old but it ain’t over for you unless you call it quits.
You gotta work, you gotta sweat or you won’t get far, and you gotta start immediately.
Not so long ago I published an article called How to Conquer the Fear of Success.
I put the words to music and made a rock tune out of it.
The tune should answer your questions for you.
Until next time.
Your man,
-Victor Pride
PS - Just in case you’re interested in the “behind the scenes” here is the song without words. Just music. All instruments performed by Victor Pride.
Note: This version is louder than the other version, turn down your speakers a little bit before you hit play.
PPS - Bold and Determined tees available at BADWEAR.com.

Interesting. Looking forward for more music from you Vic.
Haha. Agreed. I think Victor has a future as a spoken word artist. I was picturing him standing in in a coffee shop full of beatniks as I listened to that.
Looks like ive found the perfect soundtrack for the 5am squats/pressups/situps.
Hey Jack
Can you send the song to my email?
I currently have limited resources to download it from the link
Great Track, just what I needed today.
I fucking love this blog.
There’s so much power in this stuff, it’s unreal.
As always, brilliant.
Holy cool.
That’s awesome.
Sounds like some red pill music to me man!
Keep on rockin’.
This is powerful stuff, comrade.
I’m going to link to this on my site man, how awesome!
great article vic - coming to Thailand on the 7th learnt so much stuff of your site took me a year to change my course in life , , I actually told a friend two days ago , bro if you want it ………you gotta take it .Would love to hear more of your podcasts - keep em coming
wow I agree with about 90% of the stuff you say and I have learnt so much, I definitely class you as one of my mentors , keep up the wisdom victor hope to meet you in Thailand
Vic, did you just recommend I turn DOWN my speakers?
Turn it UP brother!
I don’t want you to blow out your eardrums before you get to rock.
Metallica took care of that when I was 14 years old.
hahahahahah lol metallica is awesome! i really like ” enter sandman” i just started hearing them… i listen to shredhead - good trash stuff man. and well nirvana and pink floyd - though their not metal, i just love itttttttt lol too much information :p
I’ve always wanted to be a big-time novelist. Most people told me it was a stupid idea. “Nobody makes money from their fiction,” they say. Last time I checked I wasn’t a nobody so I ignored them. My best friend told me I could do it. To my knowledge, me and him are the only ones in our HS class doing anything productive. He just bought a ticket to South America and is trying out for pro soccer teams ( he already played for a pro team, but in a minor league), I’m running my own business, and putting money in the bank. Everyone else is on a path to nowhere. It’s not surprising that they degenerate. Their lives have no meaning.
While everyone else was off smoking weed and watching Family Guy me and my friend were training for soccer everyday, the moment school ended. We would train till it was too dark to see. We would train in the freezing cold or when it was raining. Becoming better was the only thing that mattered. Back then, that’s all I cared about. It was the best time of my life. There’s nothing better than putting in the work to become great. I loved the “grind.” Sacrifice? I didn’t go to parties. I didn’t play Call of Duty all night with friends. Who gives a fuck.
Unfortunately, I tore my ACL, came back, tore my other ACL, came back, messed up my hip bad, came back, tore a ligament (still messed up today) so I finally threw in the towel. Didn’t want to get a third surgery, it wasn’t fun anymore, and I simply wasn’t the player I once was.
A foolish man would say that I didn’t achieve anything. He would say that I wasted my time practicing for thousands of hours and rehabbing from injuries day after day. No. Doing that set the stage for the rest of my life. It provided the discipline and ambition that I still have today. Before I started training hard I was nothing.
Mindset and character is everything. I have it so I will succeed at everything I set my mind to, one thing at a time. I will make enough money to live well from my business while living like no one can. Then I will focus on writing a novel everyday. I don’t care if it takes 10 years to write. It will be incredible, and it will sell.
Yes sir, only a fool refuses to see the unseen. But it takes a master to see progress and accomplishment in failure.
Great comment, comrade.
Keep fighting.
Hey,
How is your novel coming along? Also, I heard this today and thought it would be apt to reproduce: ‘there are three things every person should do in his or her life — plant a tree, have a son and write a book’ - Jose Marti
I’ve already finished a novel. Not good enough to publish. I published a short story that got good reviews, but I took it down because it’s not half as good as what I produce now.
I only work on one thing at a time. I’m 100 percent focused on making money with my business right now.
i wish you the best Jake. You just keep at it. Who is anyone who is successful? Are they super humans so ahead of us? Or are they people who overwhelmingly STAYED the course and refused to be part of the herd? In the end we will all die. Some sooner than others. The biggest of the big are basically forgotten and then a new generation takes over. Thus, your GOD-given life is yours to control. Your destiny. Just because friends may appear to be “ahead” or married with a house and a couple of kids or a certain job making “X” amount of dollars may not apply to another person. For me I would rather die than slink back into the full 9-5 lifestyle. I do that about 20 hour a week now shooting for 15 hours a week in the next couple of months.
You pursue YOUR passions, Jake. Forget what others are doing. Perseverance is far more important than even intelligence. The combo of both is a winner.Heck, people can do novels and any sort of book on Amazon KDP now for free.
Look at Victor, He hung in there. He REFUSED to stop. Others just stop. That is the difference. Others get nervous straying from the “norm” AKA-boring life. And then they wonder why they are bored, depressed, live in massive debt, beg for their pitiful 3 weeks vacation and stuff their faces watching ballgames as they get richer and the guy watching it gets poorer. Stay with your LOVE. It can never go wrong. Wish you the best.
Man. That was good Bob. Serious. As far as debt goes dudes. I MAKE ZERO MONEY FROM THESE GUYS… http://www.lexingtonlaw.com ONLY BUY THEIR MIDDLE PACKAGE! Ive even had legitimate items taken off!
ANNNNNNND You do not have to talk to creditors. TELL THEM TO ONLY to contact you by mail!!! its YOUR RIGHT AS A us CITIZEN. i TELL THE TRUTH.
Solid delivery and advice, Jake.
Hey Jake, that’s one galvanizing read you gave. If you’re making enough money to sustain yourself then you can publish your novel by yourself. Fuck editors, always rejecting submitted works because of this and that. You don’t need their approval.
Were you lifting weights that time or your days were more like “30 days of discipline”?
What are you talking about?
Im talking of the days you were focused building B&D,denying yourself of luxuries,,,,were you living in a 30 days of discipline kinda way?were you living by those habits?
Oh, I see. In a way, yes. I lived 30DOD before I ever wrote about it, of course.
Your prime time is now.
Fuck it and lift weight.
Fuck it and start do something.
I like it.
Wow man. This came in the exact moment.
Vic, great background music! And your voice is very similar to Stone Cold Steve Austin. I’m not a wrestling fanboy but Steve was one badass you could not ignore.
Everything I know about Steve Austin I learned from Tommy Toe Hold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHXrhJzRBv8
Excellent music, congratulations Victor!
TY.
Hey Victor, put some echo and reverb into your voice. Also study how Kanye West delivers speech in his music and it will vastly improve the tone. Right now the music is catchy but the vocals are kind of flat. Great post.
I will look into the echo and reverb.
nice, I’m trying to cut off porn and now I just click on your name to see your website and where do I land ? porn
I appreciate you pointing that out PM. I deleted his link.
This is probably your best post. There’s not much more to say. The meaning of life is right here, in just a few hundred words.
Thank you Mike.
The instrumental version is excellent. I fucking love it. It reminds me of the soundtrack from Quake II by Sonic Mayhem.
It also reminds me of some of Trent Reznor’s music. Did you use something like FL Studio to put all these layers together? Awesome to hear the musical side of your creativity.
I used adobe audition for the vocals. The music was recorded separately, 4 years ago, using sony acid.
Definitely reminded me of Reznor as well.
Actually I wrote it as a soundtrack to a chase scene in a movie.
Great… and intriguing. I added your music track to my ipod’s “Physical Training” playlist. You are very inspiring. Good day.
Damn!
I like it!
You should have done this sooner. My god, why did you waited so long? ;-)
Seriously I really like your “motivational art!”
Keep going!
Right?
I like how Vic says he’s passed his creative prime.
Then he produces that killer song.
LIES, VIC, LIES
That’s just limiting belief bullshit and you know it. Stop with the fables, comrade.
D/C
Just a little white lie.
“It just wasn’t the right time”.
Now that’s something that’s be seriously music, some kick ass music!
More rock songs.
Your voice could be so amazing if you took some singing classes.
That’s a really good idea. I’ll be doing speeches, my voice tends to go quite hoarse when speaking for too long.
You do have a wicked speaking voice VP.
Jaime Vendera is the man for teaching rock vocals and stamina - he can shatter glass with his voice!
Stay away from Brett Manning and co, and all other SLS ‘coaches’. Unless if you want to sound like Taylor Swift or Michael Jackson.
that’s something that’s been seriously missing
Nice job on this! Great article and very motivating short podcast!
the soundtrack is reeeally good
If you want to be successful in life you have to do what Vic said and take ACTION!
I realized that several years ago and oh how my life has changed for the better! You younger men should listen to him as Vic knows what he is talking about!
Great post and great tunes Vic!
TY Jose.
AMAZING MUSIC!!!!!!!,
THANK YOU
Fuck. VP, you’re a bloody legend.
Found your blog, my life is changing rapidly.
Unleashing the winner within. Letting go of the approval of the saboteurs.
You’ve got a good heart brother - I needed this EXACT post, right now. I’m 24. If I don’t decide NOW, I’ll waste another five years and have nothing to show for it.
My options are:
Option A: learn a trade (plumber) and have my own business. Aka work for someone else for four years, then work for myself after that. Most of my mates went right into trade apprenticeships: Now they’re free with money pouring in, they’re starting families, and they’ve got time to go fishing, surfing, and hunting. I’m stuck in a vicious cycle of shit ‘jobs’ and selfish relationships.
I studied music at a second-rate establishment (all I learned is that I was as talented as the tutors - if not a threat to them since I often pointed out jarring holes in their BS, and explanations) … and wound up 27.5k in debt before I quit. I partied a lot and lost the plot nearly completely (as well as religion) since I’d never had the freedom of being away from my family - (grew up in religious home, home-schooled/mother’s a teacher). Bang bang. Option one doesn’t look so bad to me anymore.
Option B: Be who I fear to be because of the high stakes and because I’ve had a calling to be a rock star since I was 17 years old - CREATE MUSIC BEYOND THE AVERAGE! PLAY 365 GIGS PER YEAR. BUILD YOUR IMAGE, and BECOME THAT LEGEND.
[Like you I’ve spent every waking moment developing my musical talent - then “life” gets in the way and family start to pressure you into ‘explaining yourself/convincing them’ that you’re not wasting your time - thing is, in this cycle, you are. Playing gigs are the high before the low - they don’t pay that well though - just experience. Demanding girlfriend/s, job/s, expenses, bad health etc. These kill the drive and rob your energy - suicidal thoughts? Yep]
Everyone who hears you play tells you you should compose for films and that you’re super talented - even super talented (in my opinion) musicians. You sit down at a piano in town and rip out some Chopin and Rachmaninov and people instantly start gathering around. You sing originals at a gig, people ignore and talk over the others before you pick up your guitar, and then drop silent when the music starts pouring out of your voice, instrument, and soul - because you take yourself seriously. Yet it doesn’t mean anything. You’re still nobody to the world. Option B means that while, yes, you could keep pushing and creating and marketing yourself, even the best of the best sometimes don’t make it. And you need to live, even if it’s like a spartan.
Option C: Fight to the death for my freedom starting YESTERDAY. Say no to demands of girlfriend/family, and get out of/minimise relationships that aren’t serving me. Quit my deadbeat, just-over-broke job, and start my online business and an apprenticeship. Keep getting stronger physically & emotionally independent. Use my musical ambitions serve as fuel to the fire. Make a future, and then take it. Live like no one else will. Fuck the excuses. Fuck the low life’s who want to drag you down. Just fucking DO it!
Legendary Sir.
Obviously the best option is to be a plumber. Right?
Yes.
After writing that comment it actually became a lot easier to see that too.
No more B.S - facts are facts.
Running a business that’s never going to be out of work regardless of the economic situation is the way to go.
Cheers Victor.
Sorry…you’re reply made me LOL V! Thank god Jose sees the forest thru the trees too!
Great article bro!
Killer guitar solo.
Action is the gate to cross.
Solid post Vic. I’ve never read a bio on a self made man who didn’t live lean. Guys should look at money as either a runway for their business or a source of compound interest. I think another key to success is being able to endure more then the average man, 90% of success is just showing up everyday. Awesome motivational piece as well, every young dude should put that on repeat every day to drown out the losers trying to crush your dreams.
-I lived like no one else would for four years, now I can live like no one else can.-
Epic.
As always Vic very inspiring words. The words of wisdom and insight from your life experiences are invaluable. Your sight is good especially for young people in this era of ease and entertainment. The road to success is a hard path in the beginning but it begins to smooth out.
It’s only the things in life that challenge us in a major way that make us grow. You have to develop willpower and force yourself to do things you don’t like doing but know you need to do. Hard work and discipline are the keys to success. They also build character.
Remember: Whatever strengthens your mind is your greatest ally. Whatever weakens it is your greatest enemy. (ie. Procrastination, Laziness)
On September 30th I emailed Vic that I hadn’t completed a full 30 days of the discipline challenge. Unfortunately I continued to fall short. I told him beginning October 1st I was going to do it and see it through. He emailed me back and told me he expected to hear from me on October 31 that I completed it. I posted his comment somewhere that I can see it daily for inspiration. This time I will see it through.
Thanks Again Vic
Back to the high and tight hair-cut, nice brotha
Keep it lean, keep it clean, keep it mean.
Where exactly in Asia did you go to pay only $100 a month in rent?
China. Central location too. City center, nice views.
Great post about the turns life can take, unless you dare to actively take hold of the wheel.
I too gave up on my dreams when I was young. Instead I became a succesful hedge fund manager (eventually awarded European Hedge Fund Manager of The Decade 2000-2009). This spring I retired (right before turning 42) and am now starting to build a blog presence.
That is my NEW dream and passion; to mentor and be a role model, drawing from my own life’s lessons, but also to keep learning and evolving together with an engaged community of likeminded.
Great. Start by getting rid of the blogspot and own your name.
Thanks. Yes, I read your tips and got my own .com domain and separate hosting co yesterday. I have implemented the 10 steps and 5 plugins as well. I just haven’t finalized the design yet.
mikaelsyding.com (I am brainstorming other domians as we speak but decided to start with my name)
It’s a good start. It’s a hard name for Americans, but then again so was Arnold Schwarzenegger. You always need to at least own your name if you end up going with another domain name.
“Judas’s and Brutus’s”
Awesome lyrics and melody.
This music is awesome…unlike anything I have heard. Hope you make more.
Another great post! Only the best from B&D.
Question, with regards to living like no else so later you live like no one else. What do you think about living with your parents to help save money while eliminating debt?
Like you always say it’s all the mindset. Yes, living with my parents saves money but it doesn’t give me the same mindset as living on my own.
With that said, would you suggest moving out as soon as I can fit it into my monthly budget? Or would you recommend waiting to move out when I eliminate my debt?
Thanks again for all your work. I love reading your work in my spare time, it gives me the extra fuel to keep moving forward.
That just depends on your parents.
They always care for me, which I will never forget.
But they live your typical middle class lifestyle. Work 9 to 5 and are waiting for retirment, which is a path I will not follow.
Your parents care about you and want to help you.
Respect them by paying a share of the utilities and food. That way you’re not a loss to them, and you still save as they are not trying to profit off of you.
“Live like no one else will…”
Access this opportunity as long as you can to build the foundation of your future that much quicker and thicker.
“build the foundation of your future that much quicker and thicker”
Thanks for the advice.
Victor,
Make a couple more tracks and sell the album. Awesome Work.
that is sorcery! you goddamn sorcer! congrat
“I lived like no one else would for four years, now I can live like no one else can.”
This speaks volumes. So many people live like they will never die and generally don’t value their time. In my generation especially kids go to college and think that that is enough of an investment in their future, deciding to party and drink their time away. Most of them are not willing to sacrifice for a better future. Immediate gratification is their life mantra.
You cannot assume that your future will just fall into place. You must put in the work.
Thankyou Vic, thankyou for the heart, thankyou for the will, thankyou for the fire…
Hey Victor what are your thoughts on roth iras and 401ks?
They’re not very rock n roll.
Vic, your favourite band(s)?
I look at the careers of men and I pick bits and pieces that fit with my plans and I steal them. James Hetfield is someone from whom I’ve plucked a lot of inspiration and practical knowledge from. In 30 years he never did a side project, never allowed his band members to do side projects - it’s 100% Metallica or nothing. You might notice parallels with the do one thing philosophy of B&D.
One inspiring thing about Metallica was their early business sense. Lars did everything he could to market the band, get the band on tours, get their music on demos and compilation records, plus more to gain momentum.
Sure he’s been called a dick plenty. But with one of the most successful bands of all time, I don’t think he gives 2 shits.
Lars is a true go-getter. No Lars, No Hetfield = no success for Metallica.
Another band whose business skills were unprecedented was ironically enough the Grateful Dead. Whatever one might say about their lifestyle, when it came to building a musical empire that withstood the test of time no one has ever beat them. One of the smartest things they ever did was cut out relying on records for sales, instead opting for shows that were handled under their own production company. They also put total emphasis on accommodation of their fans wishes which created a die hard following.
I believe it. Phish seems to have taken over where they left off.
I am in engineer school (second year).
This year, I have to go abroad for 6 months in order to study in another university.
I was talking about the university I were planing to choose when my mother said this to me:
“You will never, ever again have a chance like that in your whole life. You will never again have 6 months to go abroad. At best, you will get 2 weeks of holidays”
That’s when I realized : I don’t want that. I don’t want to be a slave.
Time to think about being set free.
“You will never, ever again have a chance like that in your whole life. You will never again have 6 months to go abroad. At best, you will get 2 weeks of holidays”
^Think about this boys. This is stone cold reality for most people.
Damn, it really is that bad living the “normal” life. Luckily, I realized the value of freedom at an early age from this website.
Victor what is the name of the meal on your instagram pic dinner for winner? Damn it looks good.
The name? The name is dinner for the winner. You can’t call up Dominoes and have them deliver if that’s what you mean. Home-cooked or I starve, all there is to it.
Ingredients:
Beef
Tomatoes
Peppers
Salt and pepper
Rice bran oil
Preparation:
Prepared with love for you, not by you.
Vic,
you have many strings to your bow - or I should say guitar.
Limitless.
Thank you Victor, it is powerful content like this that keeps my mind focused on my business and personal success when it begins to get littered with mainstream societal bullshit.
- Arash
hey victor pride well all i have to say is thanks man you fucking changed my life. I was a fucking liberal dweebass piece of shit.I probably sent you alot of emails but who gives a shit bro, i feel like a fucking lion ready to kill. i went from willy the wanker to billy the badass. I used to be a nice guy and actually thought being a nice guy was gonna get me some pussy , and the media influenced me to be a piece of shit. victor you are a hero that through words you turned me into a kid who kissed ass into a MAN who kicks ass everywhere. Thanks bro your a lifesaver
PS: I tried helping people to change by telling them to buy your books and reading your blog but they just freakin suck balls, so id rather just chill out and just turn into a lonewolf
gracias
9 people out of 10 don’t want to change. I’ve given up recommending blogs like this & DP to all but a select group of people. As the Good Book says “Why cast pearls at swine.”?
I like that line… serious. However, I still do enjoy casting pearl necklaces on women. Drum roll, cymbal.
Great post once again. In the end it doesn’t really matter what the platform is(you always find new ones) as long as it satisfies your inner desires.
I am on my journey to become high achiever as well. I moved to China to study Chinese for one year while I am continuously working on my business(check the link of my name).
Do you know what other foreign students do? They party, party and party. They talk about wanting to be just “happy”.
I have given up on “studying”, instead now I have started LEARNING. While the other students want to waste their time here partying with other foreign students, I party and live with Chinese people.
This is the fastest way to LEARN any language. Live with the locals and talk only their language. But only less than 1% have the balls to do it.
I do.
I applaud your courage to go to a foreign country and go out of your way to learn language by actually having conversations with the locals there. That is actually the fastest way to learn the language by immersion. I fully agree with you on that. And because of your methods, you will succeed far better than your peers who only like to party and drink. Your hard work and learning will pay off with success at the end. Enjoy your stay at China.
Nice post, nice music and nice haircut ;)
One of the best things I’ve taken away from reading your blog is the need for action. In the past I would think up ideas and procrastinate like crazy, while the opportunity slipped away. No longer. Even when I don’t feel like it I act immediately when the idea strikes me. I am still not where I want to be but my level of momentum is light years ahead of what it used to be. Now if I could actually complete a month of 30 DD…he he.. Thanks for the information you share it has helped me immensely.
Im 26. I sold all my possessions and moved back in with my parents so I could open up my auto repair shop. I can definitely relate to this post.
I CAN SAY THIS. HE IS NOT LYING. HE MAKES A LOT OF MONEY. THERE ARE WAYS YOU CAN CHECK AND SEE HOW MUCH A SITE MAKES. YES… IM NOT BS’ING U. HE DOES WELL. SO MUCH SO I’M STARTING MY OWN BLOG.
This post is exactly my story except I still haven’t found my calling. I wanted to be a rock musician too, Im your age Victor- we had good music when we were growing up. I went to a lame ass college and have 3 degrees Id rather have sold 3 million albums- I should e never listened to the mediocore middle class college debt to wage slave party line. I hate myself everyday-
You guys 17 and 18 don’t listen to the man- follow your dreams not theirs.
Victor,
I wonder man if you too have a voice that says 30yo rookie rock musicians are just not that cool- that’s a negative voice I have now in my head.
Also, you may make a lot of money but think about if you were ever to succeed and sell a lot of albums how much you could make. You seem like the kind of dude who of you woke up
Tommorrow and said Inwant to be the next Sylvester Stallone and make action movies- you’d fly to LA, get a crap box apartment, and make it happen. I could see the same thing with rock music and imagine if you did make it and sold 250,000 albums at $8 profit a pice-not too bad huh?
“I wonder man if you too have a voice that says 30yo rookie rock musicians are just not that cool- that’s a negative voice I have now in my head.”
No, I don’t have that voice because a) I don’t aspire to be pro, I do music for fun. B&D is my destiny and b) I don’t care what’s cool or not.
It reminds me of some of the spoken word works of Henry Rollins
“if you want it you take it. Forget about hoping and wishing and dreaming.”
Capital I Vic, I know you care about excellence.
Inspected and corrected.
During that year you started creating B&D, did you continue lifting weights or doing some other kind of exercise?
Vic thank you for your inspirational posts. Bold and Determined is what got me to start a blog.
“What about you, is there “hope” for you?
No. Hope is for dreamers.”
“If you want it you take it. Forget about hoping and wishing and dreaming.”
“What if you’re old and already made big mistakes?
It’s never too late to turn it all around. Never.”
But, but, but, what if….and then, what about….and what happens if….
And then it hits me.
I’m spending more time reading your blog than working on mine.
I’m making excuses because I can’t start out where you are right now.
It is unfuckingbelievable what the mind is capable of, in so many ways on so many levels, good and bad.
This is what some people call, “Living vicariously through others.”
I call it mental masturbation.
My mind is enjoying the success of what another mind is doing and has done, because I have not yet done the work to do it for myself.
How is that different from porn?
Not by very much.
No more mental masturbation.
Time to make the deadlines: DEADLINES!
Thanks for the kick in the ass…and another blog post idea…
AGAIN!
Rock on Vic. Everyday is a struggle and you have to do the work. If you do not do the work then you have no reason for hope.
Vic, you have PLENTY of creative prime years left. 32 is still very young. Some of the best musicians in the world make their best records in their 30’s.
I am 39 and as a creative my best creative years was 30 - now.
Viktor, nice song, sounds great and the LYRICS FUCK!! i really like your blog, i will follow it constantly, it is worth reading it, thanks for the post.
Victor, this blog has changed my life and I wish to extend a sincerely genuine nod to you and your effort over the years to build up your empire. Since you’re one of the only authority figures who’s opinion I trust 110%, I want your opinion on my situation and what you would do in it.
I’m 20 and have been in college for a little over a year now and honestly, I’m really not feeling it. I don’t like spending most of my time sitting in class when I feel I could be working out, reading, writing, traveling, or otherwise having a good time.
Although I’ve had a decent college experience so far, I honestly just can’t “keep up” with what it takes to have a good social life here. I don’t mind partying or going out to clubs, but I have to have a little bit of alcohol in me and I have to really (and I mean really) be in a mood where I can have a good time. I have nothing against clubbing/parting and when I’m “on” I have a decent enough time, but it’s not my preferred method of spending time to get laid or have a good time with friends. Unfortunately, most of the people at my college are a bunch of “bros”, so it makes the experience worse. Because of this, I made a tinder profile and have managed to have sex about 8 times in the past 5 months because of it, as well as twice from my real life physical efforts at clubs and parties. Is it normal to not be a huge fan of clubs and parties and use the Internet to your advantage to get laid?
I feel like there’s a massive importance placed on being “the guy” in the social scene because all the “bros”/frat guys at my school are so fucking common, as well as the amount of importance I see placed on it by other people I respect on the Internet like Chris from GLL.
This is basically why I came to you for your opinion instead of the opinion of someone else.
I can tell you had a successful run with clubs/parties/women, but unlike the other guys, you seem to have an innate desire in you that’s always striving for the next best thing, to always be better and to always kill it in whatever you do without taking any bullshit. Because of that and because of the fact that you and I are both musicians (I play guitar), I have a feeling that you’d be the easiest person I could relate to (even if I have completely read you wrong).
I’d greatly appreciate your opinion on my situation.
On a side note, I’m planning on dropping out of college and going to Chiang-Mai to meet up with all of the other expats and attempt to start an e-commerce business until I can live a life worthy enough to write a blog about. How would you suggest I network with these guys?
Thanks a lot Victor, you’re the fucking man and I’d really appreciate your response.
Our whole lives, we’ve been told to go to school, get a job, get married, and save up money to retire.
BULL fucking SHIT!
Do what you want to do in life gentlemen. Don’t get forced into a life you don’t believe in. Live your life for you, and fuck the rest.
That song is fucking awesome. Got me so pumped. Thank you for that.
“Take action every damn day that you’re alive and you’ll get what you want.” love it, damn well said.
