We have all been there.
Sitting in traffic, waiting to get to the job we hate, sitting in the office waiting for 5 o'clock, counting down the minutes to the weekend, which is never long enough.
All the while dreaming we could have our own business, maybe our own internet based business, so we could leave this rat race behind and get to livin'.
The good news is you can leave the rat race, you can start your own business, and you can become free and happy.
13 Reasons to Start an Internet Business
Today, with the internet, it is extremely easy to start your own business.
I have done it and thousands of others have done it. It is only as hard or as easy as you want it to be.
But why should you start an internet based business?
1) By running an internet business you will have more free time to do the things that matter in life
Being stuck in traffic everyday, taking orders from the boss, waiting on your paycheck (with taxes conveniently removed for you), asking permission to take your holiday is no way to go through life.
Running an internet based business will give you the time to do the things that matter and let you not do the things that don't matter. Spend more time with family, spend less time with family, spend more time travelling, spend more time doing anything you please.
Without a 9-5 noose around your neck you're free to come and go and do as you please. I just spent a week at a tiny, little known beach in Cambodia called Otres Beach, riding jet ski's and getting tan. That would have been completely and utterly impossible if I had a boss and an office to report to.
2) With an internet based business you can control your income
When you have a job you make a set amount of money, no matter how hard you work or how well you do your job. The opposite is true when you run an internet based business. Your income is directly tied to how hard and how well you do your job.
The sky is the limit when it comes to making internet money. The choice is yours when it comes time to decide how much you want, or need, to earn. Make the decision to earn more and you can, as long as you do the work.
3) With an internet based business you can work from anywhere
Again, no more getting up at the crack of dawn just to go sit in traffic and wait and wait. When you run an internet based business you can work from home, the local coffee shop, the library, or abroad. Anywhere you have an internet connection is where you can work from.
Say hello to sunny skies and goodbye to drab and lifeless grey offices.
4) You can feed your entrepreneurial spirit without breaking the bank
Not everyone was meant to live life as a corporate cog in the machine. Many of us are entrepreneurial minded but are just too afraid to take the leap and go for it. With an internet based business you have tiny start-up costs and low to no overhead.
It isn't as risky as starting a local brick and mortar shop where you have to pay rent, pay for product, and pay your employee's salaries. To start an internet business is almost free. You simply need a domain and a website, that will run you about $20 to start.
5) People spend money on the internet, your business can get a piece of that
Internet spending is predicted to account for 40% of all retail sales by 2020 and 84% of the world's internet users now shop online. That is a huge amount of money online just waiting for you.
I spend a great deal of my own money online, I don't like leaving to go shopping if I don't have to. Most people are the same, they want to buy from the comfort of their own home.
6) Your internet business is open 24/7
Rather than be open for a limited time, like most brick and mortar shops, your online business is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.
That means you can make money while you sleep. Imagine waking up to see page after page of sales your website made while you were counting Sheep.
7) There are no geographical limitations when you run an internet business
You can be based in Nowhere, Iowa and sell your products to India, Japan, Canada, and Mexico. The only limitations online are the limitations we place. With such a huge client base, the whole world, you can access a much wider base of clients and customers.
Bold and Determined has readership and clientele from USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Singapore, South Africa, India, Nigeria and many other places I didn't even know had internet.
8) With an internet based business you have more job security
There is no such thing as job security unless you create it. Your employers want money, rightfully so, and they don't particularly care how loyal you are and they will do what is necessary for profit not what is necessary to keep their cogs happy.
You cannot rely on anyone or any company to employ you forever. You can only ever rely on yourself and one thing is for certain: The internet isn't going anywhere.
I hear a bunch of silly conspiracy theorists worrying about the day the internet gets “shut off”. Friends, there is no on/off switch for the internet. It's here, it's here to stay and every damn person you know is addicted to it.
I'm addicted to it as much as anyone. The obvious solution here is to make money from your addiction, you will be online anyway so you may as well be making dollars while you do it.
9) When you run an internet business you can better control your companies image and reputation
With bad press and a bad image a company can go under in no time. When you run an internet business, and are internet savvy, you can much better control your company image and reputation.
Provide a good product or service and your reputation will be stellar. Be a killer, sure, but be an honest killer.
10) With an internet based business your customers have access to more information and product
With an internet business the sky is the limit in regards to the information and products you can carry.
All this means better information and access for your customers. You can have as many or as few products as you want, you can have as many or as few websites as you want.
11) It's easy to automate your internet business
There are almost an endless amount of products available to help automate your business and make you money while you sleep, eat or travel.
Four websites, each making $500 per month automatically is a real nice piece of side money. Double that money and it's a real income. Triple it and you're doing quite well.
12) Anyone can start an internet business, from teenager to senior citizen
The beauty of running an internet based business is that anyone with a computer and internet connection can do it.
From teenager to senior citizen, white or black, disabled or able-bodied, the internet has no bias. All are welcome and all can make money if they are willing to put in the effort and take action and, most importantly, do it consistently.
13) Running an internet business is more fulfilling than working for someone else
Running your own business is infinitely more fulfilling than being a corporate cog and taking orders from others.
As you can see, starting an internet based business makes sense.
Friends, we have all wanted to leave the rat race and get a bigger piece of the pie while not wasting our lives away behind a cubicle. The one way that everyone in the world can make their own money and make their own schedule is by starting an internet based business.
Remember, there is no better time than RIGHT NOW. The first step is simply to take action.
Actions, not words.

PS - Starting a website is very cheap. You only need a domain name and a web host. Hosting is about $3-4 per month and when you use BADNET your domain name is free.
Badnet will install your blog for free plus you get a ton of other benefits like being able to meet like-minded friends and fans. It’s a total no-brainer.
Here’s how you take advantage of this deal: How to Start a Blog Overnight – Use Badnet and Follow These Easy Directions

What’s up Vic,
I bought Spartan Entrepreneur yesterday and I just have a question, why do you recommend that we only post 3-5 reviews on our websites?
R
The goal is to get people to those reviews, not to do many, many, many reviews (unless different websites). Do the reviews, get them done and then get TRAFFIC. The key is traffic, not fresh content.
What it was pre-released yesterday? No worries. I still got my copy.
I can’t wait to start implementing these new ideas.
Serious question Vic,
I am a fellow blogger and I was just curious about your websites images in regard to copyright. Do you source images that are copy right free? If so do you know where I could find them?
Jordan
Let me answer that in a few days.
snappygoat.com, pixabay.com, and any other search engine that looks for CC0-licensed pictures.
hi Vic, another great post as usual you set the bar high but show us how to obtain it by giving simple, down to earth and non PC instructions. Just bought the spartans entrepreneur and read through cover to cover, how could anything be easier than to have your business. There really are no excuses for not acting on this and start making money, awesome. Interesting side thought reading through your blogs is that only 20% of people will actually act and do something where the other 80% will do nothing and thats the way of the world, so the people who work to make there dreams reality are the true Victors of the world. Keep up the good work, always enjoy your blogs as they put a big smile on my mug and keep motivated for my own goals.
Cheers Shawn
I’d add… - 14. The amount of people willing to start an internet business is only likely to increase in the future, which gives you hints on possible ever-green business models :)
Great job….this is what I tell people everyday. I do agree with you with everything except one thing the kill switch is real. That s not a conspiracy theory my friend. I got friends on the inside who showed me. THEY are getting everyone hooked and everything connected and like that we will be more easy to control. And in case u don t know people started getting chipped. That s my industry bro so dont sleep because the new world order is here and it s coming to a city near u….oh and wait until the bitcoin starts spreading and become the new global currency…
An internet killswitch for the whole world? China, Japan, USA, Brazil, India are all going to agree and say “yeah, throw the killsitch”? No.
Fuck the NWO if they do exist. They can shut down whatever they want it won’t affect me. If they ever try their masterplan, I’ll just take a pump action shotgun to my balcony and make a large and loud statement in their direction. If you have a warriors heart, you have nothing to fear my brother.
Thanks for opening up Spartan Entrepreneur - bought - loaded - read twice - doing! Referring all day. Affiliate link needed.
Great article!
Quick question though- Obviously one’s website would focus on selling a product or a service. Other than this initial and primary income stream; what are some other ways to make money off of the website and how would one go about it? For example third party advertising, affiliated products, etc. Are there any of these secondary income streams that are not so obvious the fresh internet marketeer?
Thanks!
Chance, read up on my latest series “So You Want to Be a Professional Blogger”, I talk about those things. https://boldanddeterminedarchive.com/2013/03/20/so-you-want-to-be-a-professional-blogger/
Spartan entrepreneur is a great book for those looking to start a blog or website! I bought it a while back. I go back to it from time to time to refresh my mind and continue to learn. Once i found out how it easy it was i was able to start my own blog for less than $20.00. My dear friends you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
Reading now… Thanks for releasing the ebook!
Dear Victor. Clickbank do not have any products that I am interested in selling. In any case It appears I have to sign up to clickbank as an affiliate to sell their products which is quite expensive.
Clickbank is free to use as an affiliate. Follow these steps –> Clickbank.com, Sign up, Affiliates/I have an established audience, sign up now.
I see that it’s being touted as free for the day but every link I click between your site and vivalamanosphere, com directs to http://spartanentrepreneur.com/ which, in turn, still asks the $10 for the download. Pointers much appreciated.
I have no idea about what another website is doing, it’s not free and never has been.
Hmm. Seeing the times on your site that might be it right there. You’re going off of timezones in East Asia aren’t ya? I’m here in the Eastern Timezone USA.
The book is good, but I haven’t had any success with the method. It’s original, but I think it all comes down to the old saying that the only people making money online are the ones selling the make money online products. After two niche websites and couple of months of effort I scraped the sites because they weren’t bringing in any traffic although I put a lot of effort in them. The only real traffic I’ve ever had was with organic SEO on an unrelated site, and at least that way I got to write something useful instead of dozens of daily fake comments on forums.
But overall, it’s a good book, especially for beginners and it has some interesting ideas.
I was hoping Victor would comment on boar’s article. Is affiliate marketing legit? Is the only money being made by those selling how to make money online? Are there any readers actually making even a modest amount of $ using this method?
Of course it’s legit.
I acquired my copy yesterday Victor, a nice piece of work, it will really help me along, probably the last push I need. You have really shown an avenue for enterprise with a near zero barrier to entry, well done.
If it ever makes me location dependent, I’ll find my way to BKK and a huge ass resturant steak is on me.
Victor,
I went to clickbank.com and I clicked sign up and there was a selection and I was confused because I didn’t see a free option. I need help please.
Follow these steps -> Clickbank.com, Sign up, Affiliates/I have an established audience, sign up now. Free and easy.
Victor,
How do you handle sales taxes? Have an LLC in a state that doesn’t charge sales tax?
Any recommendations for shopping cart software for selling the digital goods online?
Thanks!
Yeah, go with a no sales tax state. For shopping cart I use e-junkie which is phenomenal and costs a mere $5 per month and I use it in conjunction with paypal, which is too expensive.
Edit: I mean a no income tax state.
Bought your spartan entrepreneur yesterday and it was quite refreshing but I rather a single authority site to start off with personally. There are tons of ways to expand affiliate marketing on a blog (as you do) and while it might not generate a lot of money at the beginning, it will pick up slowly over time as the website develops further and further. I myself have been up since 4am working my butt off on my own internet business, I also squeezed in a workout and pulled my back, yeah buddy!
The spartan entrepreneur method is great if you need money NOW and are willing to work for it. If this is you buy it today while you can and get to work!
I got a couple of questions though.
What are your strategies for gaining traffic and spreading your website around? Besides kick ass content and seo.
You have no affiliate with BB.com and I don’t either. My application was denied but what are your reasons to using amazon for your few supplements and not BB. Yes BB.com is full of shit but great for buying supps and where I go to personally for the few supps I use.
Simple, I use amazon and I don’t use bb.com. I won’t link to them because they are a bunch of filthy liars and will do nothing but lead you astray if you want to be a bodybuilder. You will NEVER be a bodybuilder following the dogshit on bb.com. Amazon is great, I buy anything I can from them.
re: gaining traffic for B&D my strategy is as simple as can be. If you want it, if you need it, you will google around until you find it. I don’t advertise, my target market isn’t people who need their hand to be held, it’s people who are ready and just need a little push. Those who will help themselves, not those who want everything handed to them. My strategy has worked, after 2.5 years my readership is very large. No advertising, no seo, no “trending”, no guest posting, no nothing but my guts typed in the best way I can.
I feel you man. The spartan method of blogging: Provide real, killer content that sells itself. In fact that’s exactly how I found your website. Around the end of last September I was frustrated after a failed relationship and was quite pissed off and angry. I casually googled “How to channel anger” and lo and behold BOLD AND DETERMINED was the very first choice. I already knew how to channel anger (deadlifts & squats) but for some reason I googled it and found this site as a result.
I seemed to have found it at the perfect time in my life as well and like you said, I was ready but needed that extra push from BOLD AND DETERMINED. The rest is just history.
(Here’s a little entrepreneurial idea for you Vic, write a full-fledged book on BOLD AND DETERMINED and the philosophy behind the blog, just an idea I’ve always had for B&D)
Worked for me.
You’ll have a great advantage if the thing you’re marketing is something you’re already passionate and very knowledgeable about.
Damn, i just put the money into my bank and got back….sold out ahaha next time.
What is with copyrighted images? Will I get a lawsuit if I just use pictures from google images to promote my blog?
I’ve purchased my copy. As soon as I’m completed with my fitness journey, I intend on opening up a site. But like you have said before, no body wants to take advice from someone that is still on a journey. I’m planning for a September launch. My strategy is to have a ton of material written in advance, so I’m not scrambling to keep content fresh. Instead, I will be able to dip into a bank of articles I’ve already written and proof read. Thanks Vic for keeping my motivation on track. When the world has me off rhythm, B&D is always there to get my mind back on track.
Hey Victor one more quick question. Why do you use dedicated hosting instead of the baby plan at hostgator? Thanks again.
I used the baby plan at $7 per month for as long as I could, about 2 years, but my traffic is now far too large and will crash the server repeatedly if I don’t have my own dedicated server. Trust me, I’d love to pay $7 per month instead of $230.
Do you recommend being a sockpuppet? In other words when you post on the forums say “I found this good review that might answer your questions” rather than “I wrote a review on that product”?
Shady way to put it, but you sure could. The trick is not not sound spammy, the trick is to sound like a real person really recommending your product.
Bought another one of your books, literally had to go to the gym after from over-excitement. Just bought my domain, hosting package, and was planning on writing a post but I wanted to reference your site. You want me to email you first with content?
No need my friend, it should be in your words and voice.
Have u ever had an injury or incident where u lost all your muscle and got out of shape because of a hospital stay? If so how would u handle it or bounce back? They say muscle comes and go. I m asking because right now u are on top of the world. U have the body and u have money so your confidence is unshakeable however where would your confidence go if u lost all that muscle and looked like before or got fat?
That question was meant for Victor no offense
I answered it because I’ve been in that exact situation. No offense taken.
No Ralph, that has never happened to me.
What would u do and how would u respond to that situation if it did happen to u?
Don’t dwell on it. If you dwell on it and think about it too much the reality of the situation will eat you up. Have the mentality of “I will get through this. This is temporary. It is simply a matter of time”.
I had a horrible injury before. I tore my trapezius muscle and couldn’t even hold a dumbbell without pain, that happened about two years ago. I lost all of my muscle and reverted back to my weak, skinny self. It took me a year to fully recover, it took me even longer to get back into the gym. It took an accidental dose of caffeine for me to get that spark to get back into working out.
I’ve been working out consistently for a year and a half since getting back into the gym. Victor’s BODY OF A SPARTAN helped me break through a plateau last year around October when I found the site. By following his diet recommendations and the routine I gained around 10lb and a ton of strength as well.
How you handle such an injury? PAIN IS TEMPORARY. You make the commitment to get back into the gym as soon as possible by treating your injury as effectively as possible.
In terms of confidence, you will lose a lot of it. Losing muscle + no working out = the testosterone levels of a 10 year old. You just have to find the spark that got you working out in the first place and light that shit up.
And if Victor lost that muscle from an injury this is exactly what he will do.
a) Focus on something else like making $$$
b) Heal himself as quick as possible
c) Get back into the gym and deadlift the house until he’s where he wants to be.
What he won’t do is sit around and mope like a little bitch.
^Correct. That is what I would do.
Lame, missed out on it.
Victor,
First of all, accept my gratitude for the amazing product you provided, as well as the contents of your blog. It’s been great reading it.
Secondly, you mention in the book that I should review popular products. This may seem stupid, by how do I judge the popularity of clickbank products? I see the marketplace has a “popularity” filter, is it just that, or do I also account for the other stats like “gravity” and the rest? Reading through the descriptions, all of them have the same shtick:”high comission, crazy/high/huge conversions” etc. So how do I separate the winners from the losers?
And what about the product’s price/commission per sale? Should I shoot for the products with the highest price?
And lastly, should I review similar products, or products that complement each other? For example, if my chosen niche is health/fitness, do I review several bodybuilding products, or do I review a bb product + a weight loss product + a diet plan/general health/whatever else?
Thank you for your time.
Victor,
I got a question about the tax id on clickbank.com. Do I have to put in my social security # as the tax id or do I just leave the tax id alone?
You put in your social if you don’t have a tax id. You’ll need to put it in to get paid.
You can get an EIN to claim the money you are making without giving away your social.
http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Apply-for-an-Employer-Identification-Number-(EIN)-Online
Its a good idea
But Which legal structure should I use?
An LLC is perfectly fine.
Victor,
I need some help with the ein. I selected other ->services and now their asking what kind of services do I provide?
For the ein application I put that I provide miscellaneous services since I want to use the company for more than one thing is that ok?
Victor what do u think about investing on bonds, trusts, cds, ira, stocks and precious metals?
I think if you know what you’re doing it’s a smart move.
Vic,
Great post, boss.
Your promise of freedom and happiness from starting an internet business is accurate; I advise all to hear these words.
If you aren’t sure where to start, try checking out Vic’s posts regarding website construction, or pickup “The Spartan Entrepreneur” - there is a review of his eBook on my website.
Check it out.
I am in no way affiliated with Victor Pride and I genuinely find his works intriguing enough to include in my own.
Keep it up, boss.
Victor,
I need some advice.
I have no money (or not enough) to create a web address or do anything else that costs money. Is there any tips so that I make some money to put this spartan entrepreneur into application? And by the way if this does work, will it help me get out of my parents house?
If you literally have zero money the only option you have is to is to use free domains and hosting of the type found at wordpress.com blogger.com tumblr.com etc.
Alright i already have a tumblr account so im going try that out. Thanks!
You might consider doing a few odd-jobs, or selling some of your stuff. The money you get that way is almost never ‘worth it’, but you’re not going to achieve anything without the occasional hardship.
That’s true.
Hey vic!
Might be a silly question.
But how much money did you make the 2 days where you re-released “Spartan Entrepreneur”?
What are you, the IRS? ;)
Hello,
I was wondering, whats the benefit of choosing Hostgator over GoDaddy with hosting when both sites offer registration and hosting?
HG has better hosting services IMO.
Site is finally up.
Almost ready to start making some money.
Thanks for the bold reminder of the benefits of an internet based business!
Victor,
I am still currently plugging my way through the spartan entrepreneur, I am taking my time and getting through it. Everything is up an running with reviews written etc. I am struggling with the quality of links from google alerts, only some I can actually comment on and others are not really relevant even though it accurately describes my keywords. How can I correct this? I am crazy determined to even just make $1, it would be amazing!
I’d just like to add that this post was a life changer for me. It was the first one I read when I discovered the website. I will forever be grateful for finding it and for Victors work. After re-reading it I’m reminded of the ‘feeling’ I had, it was one where I felt my eyes were opened and I was energized by it.
Just had to add that! Thanks to Victor and all the guys posting useful info.
Where i can buy a copy of the “Spartan Entrepreneur”?
The link is no longer available.
Thanks
Yeah, I was interested in buying Spartan Entrepreneur also. I couldn’t find a link on your site.
The internet is the best business model. It is better than a brick and mortar store because you can reach a worldwide audience. There will be many new billionaires created in the next 20 years from the internet.
I think the most important reason to start an internet business is that it can help you do more that matters. Deep inside all of us we have the need to do something that matters, and I am of the opinion that an Internet Business can help you do this.
I needed to read this. I was reading an article about the rich-poor gap, and in the comments people were bashing anyone that gave suggestions regarding starting a business/internet business. They would say ‘oh anyone can just start a business”, sarcastically of course. It was a bunch of pathetic excuses from a bunch of poor saps working in the corporate world, I imagine. It was sick! I hate excuses! In the age of the Internet NOTHING is impossible if you put your mind to it. It’s what sets the men apart from the boys.
The initial plunge into making money online through blogging and affiliate marketing is the hardest part. I started my blog 1 month ago. I have seen my traffic increase from 1-2 page views to yesterday having my first 100+ page view day. Content is key. Quality content. Just be passionate about what you write about. Things will start falling into place. The hardest part is learning, once you learn the ins and outs (and I am far from it, but getting there) things begin to click. There is money to be made and women to be laid. Have fun with it.
That’s the truth! I just started my blog yesterday, and I eventually hope to get into affiliate marketing of some sort. I need to get the blog just the way I want before I dive in though. Going to take hard work, but nobody gets anywhere by sitting on their ass! I’ve checked out your blog, it’s great.
Thank you. Coming from someone who just started, just make sure your content is quality. Write in your style. Enjoy what you write about and have fun doing it.
Hi Victor,
Great post, I really like your blog. very powerful messages. I just started my blog and i am not a great writer, but i am lerning that its all about being true to yourself and providing value for those who visit your blog and writting to a style that suits you is the right thing to do as it will reflect your personality.
Great blog! keep it up.
hi Vic,
any chances of re-selling Spartan Entrepreneur ebook in upcoming weeks?
Hi,
I want to buy that one too. Where can i order?
Thank you!
You’re forgetting one major positive thing from the 9-5 job that you can’t get from having your face in your computer all day at home - relationships with other people. Show me the social aspect of working on your own with your head buried in the computer all day? There is none! I am currently unemployed and would give anything for a job related to my degree, just so I could have face to face contact with people on a daily basis.
ha. People only exist in offices? The people who work 9-5 jobs are the last people on earth I’d want to spend all day, every day with. But here’s a tip guy, if you actually were social you’d have a job in a half an hour because people hire their friends first.
Victor, when will you make this book available again??? I need this in my life. Thnx!
HaHaHa…
Words of wisdom if ever there were.
I missed the boat on this book [didnt know much of the site before D&P’s coverage, then got hooked]
will there be another one day re-release in the future?
i kind of know the answer but hoping against hope
I know the internet has opened up different ways to make money. How about the traditional investment in shares? I mean you could still put in monster hours and get a decent amount of return if you are smart enough.
Victor,
You say you’re into domaining. Can we expect an article from you about effective strategies to buy and sell domains? Would you recommend domaining to your readers as a way to make money online?
I have decided to start travelling again. The easiest way to do it is with an online business. And I started one of those. Cheers to a life worth living.
Thank you , great article. It’s hard to disagree that time is the most valuable thing in our life. Really rich people have a lot of free time.
Hi Vic, first off, i want to say thanks, your blog is something every man needs to read, I have been reading for about 3 months now, and starting Monday morning, I am purchasing a domain to start up my very first blog because of all the inspiration you gave me, I am only 19, and I am ready to take control of life, I quit my job and I am ready to dedicate all of my time to my new venture. Thank Vic, you are the man.
You are a really motivating person and I am determined to start developing a career in the Internet, I am 18 still in high school. I have plans to go to a two year college for software development. I want to start now, but I don’t know how. Do I need to create my own website and come up with some amazing product to sell? I’m just not understanding what it is I do. Just start a website where I post things like you? Is this your main website?
Great post Vic..Here’s few more reasons why to go online
http://www.inceptup.com/#!blog/hdb2t
Absolutely true, the Internet is the present way of doing business, and will only grow stronger.
I don’t know what I would do without the fucking internet.
