Subj: How to be 18 again
————————
When you turn 18 you are a free man. You can kick off the shackles and go about your life as you wish.
But the plan that is likely laid out for you is a plan destined to fail, so you've got to make the right choices to get a jumpstart on a life of health, wealth and happiness.
Regrets are pointless, but if for some reason I was put into a time machine and found myself 18 years old again this is what I'd be glad to know.
Here are 18 things every 18 year old should know…
1) Don't get married
She isn't your soulmate, she isn't “the one”, it isn't true love. That's my 100%, money back guarantee to you. Assuming you are a westerner, especially an American, getting married young will be the biggest mistake of your life. Just say no. As a young man you can be free to date around and play the field. Tying yourself to one woman with a Government enforced noose will do two things: turn you into a shell of a man and significantly reduce your income after she gets bored, divorces you so she can find herself, and papa Government helps her finance it with your money. Wait until later in life and pick the right wife before you sign your life away.
2) Do not make women your priority
Priority numero uno should be making money and building a life for yourself. There are 3+ billion women in the world and they are all basically the same. Your soul-mate Kimberly isn't one in a million, at best she is about one in a hundred. She can be replaced and it's not true love that you feel for her it is infatuation. If she wanted you then you would not want her so much but because she does not want you you want her. Make sense? No? Doesn't matter. We want what we don't have or what we can't have, when we have it we don't want it. You don't need a psychology textbook to learn that, just a little Bold and Determined 101.
3) College doesn't guarantee money
It is time to get women out of the schooling of boys. It is way past time. Women in our feminized classrooms are consigning generations of our sons to years of misery and diminished futures. The evidence is everywhere. Few dare notice it. -Fred Reed
College is a big joke. I said it, you read it. My freshman year of college I had a female English teacher who had the build of a linebacker and, rather than teaching us English, taught us feminism. Every day she would talk about feminism ad nauseam. If you're thinking “wow, what a waste of time” you are right.
I wasted a great deal of time in college, aimlessly drifting through because that's what you're supposed to do. The cold, hard reality is that you aren't guaranteed a job or a career and your college degree is going to be the most expensive piece of paper you ever purchase. A college degree in this day and age usually guarantees one thing: debt.
Making money and living well is completely and 100% up to you, not your piece of paper. I never learned anything in college and with good reason: colleges are filled to the brim with stupid people (see exhibit A and exhibit B). It's not a coincidence that recent college grads look like glassy eyed morons as they serve your coffee.
Smart people simply don't belong in college and unless you are going to school to become a physician or to get a degree in a highly technical STEM field college is almost completely unnecessary. Every successful entrepreneur I know says the same thing: “I never use my college degree for anything“. If I found myself at 18 years old, knowing what I know now, I would absolutely 100% not go to college.
4) You can make money on the internet
Getting a degree in some phony baloney major like communications is great for wasting time pretending to be successful but there is an easier, better, freer and more profitable way to make money. Make money through the power of the internet. Look around you, what is one thing you see every person doing? They are all playing around on the internet on their laptops, smart phones and tablets. Everyone is online, you are online right now reading this, I am online writing this. The difference is that I am making money online and most of you are playing online. Kill two birds with one stone, play and make money.
If I were 18 years old right now this is exactly what I would do: I would skip college, I would read the Fastlane Forum voraciously, I would save up two thousand dollars and I would move to either Chiang Mai, Thailand or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Those two places are filled to the brim with young, white foreign entrepreneurs who spend their time networking, building businesses and partying and they live on about $500 per month while doing it. I don't even personally like those cities but it's undeniable that they are the hub cities for young expat entrepreneurs. Go where the talent is.
5) World travel is not just a fantasy
13 years ago I watched a movie called The Beach
. I was blown away. Not by the story, or the acting, but by the photography. The film takes place on an island in Thailand and when I saw the movie it looked to me like paradise. I never forgot that lagoon.
Too bad I could never visit a place like that, I thought.
You see, when I was a young man I was unaware of the possibilities. I thought it was college, job, two years into the job I could have a one or two week vacation, then I would retire. I never thought I could visit far away countries.
It was not until I read the Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris that I even knew it was possible to not just visit other countries but you could actually live in other countries and it would be cheaper than living in America.
Right then and there I made my plans and I visited that island in Thailand that I saw in the movie. Nowadays I even live in Thailand and I save a ton of money doing so. It's not impossible, frankly it's quite easy.
6) Gym time is critical while you're young
You must build your body and your strength, a physically weak man is a failure and the body of the average man is disgraceful. As a young man you should have a few things going for you. Those things are high testosterone, high natural growth hormone and high IGF-1 levels. Take advantage of those now because when you're older those levels diminish. Now is the time to get in the gym and build your body naturally to it's peak. A body built when you are young will stay with you for a lifetime.
Do not take steroids as a young man, your HPTA levels are still developing. Using steroids while under 22 years of age can and will result in an underdeveloped HPTA which will result in permanent lack of HPTA maturity meaning you will have permanently low natural testosterone levels. Yikes!
7) Your family is full of BS
Unless your dad is a self-made millionaire your family doesn't know what they are talking about when it comes to planning your financial future. They'll tell you college degree, good job, marriage, retire rich. All they're missing is a little thing called evidence. That's a get-rich-slow scheme and it works as well as get-rich-quick schemes. That is to say, it doesn't work.
8) Work ethic is critical to develop early
The longer you wait the lazier you get. Now is the time to get to work building your future empire. Laziness is a learned trait and ass-kicking is also a learned trait. Get to ass-kicking instead of sittin' around on your ass. 30 Days of Discipline will give you a boot to the ass to fuel that fire.
See also Why Every Young Man Needs 30 Days of Discipline: 30 Days of Discipline Review
9) Everything is not just A or B, there is a C solution
The world is not just black and white, christian or atheist, republican or democrat, liberal or conservative. Stand on the outside and look in to make the best decisions. As soon as you say “I'm such and such” you stop thinking about things. If you say “I'm a liberal” you'll follow liberal dogma, if you say “I'm a republican” you'll follow republican dogma. There is a 3rd option, a 4th option, a 5th option etc. but it requires you to put on your thinking cap and not just accept your group's POV without thought. As an outsider you will be able to see things clearly in a way that group-followers never will.
10) You have a future
Never listen to people that say “This is the best time of your life. It's all downhill from here“. Your life is as good as you make it. Work to build yourself a future and you will have a nice one. I'll tell you my life is phenomenally better at 30+ than it was at 18 but I never sat around pining for the old days, I was always working to make something of myself. Forget about the retirement scam, work on your own future, build yourself. Your future is yours to make, but your future will come whether you build a good one or a poor one.
11) Pay attention to money
Never pay attention to the “money is the root of all evil” talk. The people who say this are morons. Money is the #1 necessity of life. Forget about greed, money is need. Make it so you can do as you wish and have the highest amount of freedom possible. Keep multiple bank accounts with balances in each and always keep some cash on hand. Never, ever keep all your financial eggs in one basket. I learned this lesson the hard way when my American bank closed my account for no reason (read about it here), leaving me low on funds. Now I keep 10+ bank accounts in several countries.
12) Find older, accomplished men and pick their brains
If you can find one, a mentor is a great asset. In the old days these were known as ‘fathers' but in the days of feminazism these guys aren't around so much. Thankfully we have the internet and can make contact with people from all over the world.
13) Feminism is a sick joke
Young man, you've been sold a bill of goods with the whole feminism thing. Let me explain in perfect English the reality: Western women were never discriminated against, there is no such thing as ‘rape culture', women aren't paid less for the same work, feminism is not about equality.
Feminism is about women trying to be men without any responsibility. Feminism has left you with a pool of women who are truly insane. Solution? Kick dirt in the face of feminism.
14) If you need a job get a sales job or a manual labor job
If you need a job, if your entrepreneurial gig isn't paying the bills, then sales or manual labor are great. Working in offices is for women and girly-men. A sales job will teach you how to make money and a manual labor job will build your body while you get paid. In fact, there are quite a few manual labor jobs that will pay you big, big bucks. You'll have to do some travel and work some long hours but you can make 100k+ per year working on offshore oil rigs. A young man with a strong back could work 6 months out of the year doing manual labor and spend 6 months free, traveling, working on an entrepreneurial gig, or doing whatever you want.
15) Don't buy anything on credit
Debt is slavery. Stay out of debt at all costs. If you don't have the cash don't buy the item. Pay everything upfront, no payment plan no credit. If you use credit cards to build up your credit always pay them off 100% at the end of the month. Think of credit cards as delayed payment debit cards.
16) Don't bother choosing a career
I'm not an artist, I'm a hustler. As a hustler I've done many things. You should really believe it when I tell you that, 'cause I'm not being sarcastic. I'm a total hustler. What that means is I've hustled to make a buck and I've hustled to change the world and I've hustled to take revenge - but it's always hustling. I've never had a career or a single goal. I've never been formally educated. To get things together, to make a living, I constantly have to hustle. - Vincent Gallo
Choosing a career is pointless and choosing your life path at 18 years old is just silly. You don't even need a career, you can do many, many, many things throughout your life.
17) Nobody believes in you
It's true, no one believes you can succeed outside of the college, job, marriage paradigm. Big deal. Frankly, they are right to not believe in you because until you have walked the walk you are just a daydreamer. Until you have accomplished what you have set out to accomplish there is absolutely no reason for anyone to believe in you. All you need to do is realize that no one believes in you and don't seek approval. Approval is for dogs, men take what they want and don't ask permission.
18) Be proud of who you are
If you're a young white man then you have just come from a schooling system where scumbags have tried to make you feel bad about being a white male. I remember vividly in my high school that all problems were the fault of white men. Young man, you can be happy to know that that is all baloney and you have zero reason to feel bad about being white. White people are the least racist, least sexist people on the face of the earth and I can assure you that is a fact. The nice guy always has to eat shit and when it comes to race, the white guy is the nice guy. Never apologize for who you are or for what color you are. You aren't a dog so don't tuck your tail between your legs.
BONUS: What to do if you're younger than 18
I get a lot of messages from young men under the age of 18 asking what they can do. My answer is this: Endure. When you're 18 you're free and you can do as you please. Until then you've got to do what mommy and daddy say. 18 will come before you know it, that's a guarantee. Until then just endure. Try and build yourself a business on the internet, try and build your body by going to the gym or exercising at home and count down the minutes to freedom. That's exactly what I did as a young man. Counted down the minutes, hours and days until I was free. It seemed like forever at the time, now it feels like it was the snap of a finger.
Good luck, and have a nice day.
Your man,
-Victor Pride

What you have written might have been wrong few decades back here in India but unfortunately entire world is becoming America and today this feminism shit has spread so much even in my country
I don’t think Victor is talking about India, which is a disgusting country were women actually ARE discriminated and systematically fucked over.
Great article, especially point #1 is something I have learned the hard way (through two long relationships. I’m 21 now and I plan to stay single for a long time. Nothing better than banging random chicks whenever you feel like it.
Disregard females, acquire aesthetics & money!
My favorite is #7 Your family is full of BS. People around you are going to tell you, you are crazy. When really they are the crazy ones who think a mediocre life is a reward.
Here is an awesome video of Arnold Schwarzenegger on how to be successful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuJ4hbkLiY0
women get raped everywhere. India has more women working in the parliament then any other country. When you have a population of around one seventh of the world, there are bound to be more crimes.
I am from India, but I have to agree with you, there’s just too many of us. But the above mentioned points is applicable everywhere.
And media especially in here just focus on women issues, instead of the real issue (crime). And regarding racism let me tell you one dirty secret, no one is more fucking racist than us, it’s a shame but all I am saying is the truth.
Anyway, wonderful post.
Dude, you cannot call India a DISGUSTING country. I don’t know which country you belong to and even if I did, at least I wouldn’t judge you sitting in the corner of my room with a pc in front of me.
You know what? Women are not discriminated here any more! Times have been changed, looong time back. India has been extremely progressive and is among the TOP countries in today’s date with women being top level industrialists, managers, astronauts, with many of them involved in Politics and have led countries as Prime Ministers and Presidents.
are you joking, there is a rape festival in India… a woman died last year being raped by 8 different men its a revolting country!
The ‘news’ article about the rape festival was a joke. The paper which published it is like theonion.com, they print fake news for humor. Take a look at their other articles and you’ll know.
Here you go:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Assam-Rape-Fest-story-in-US-media-triggers-row/articleshow/25398795.cms
Even if something bad happens in a country you can’t call it revolting
Well said, India isn’t what people think. It is much different from what they think. There are bad as well as good sides. People highlight the bad side of India forgetting the side which is better than any other country. You know it and still try to fool yourself by claiming India to be disgusting. You are wrong, so deeper and find out what INDIA is..
I’m sorry victor sir for this.. Loved your article, I’m turning 18 in coming 8 days,, thanks
DISREGARD FEMALES, ACQUIRE CURRENCY MAN, That is the fucking motto
Who the hell r u to talk about India like this.
.
Only you kinda people sees the negatives of anything why don’t you look at yourself.
Who u r?
Sry who the hell you are?
Who the hell are you to judge any country. Mother fuckers like you dont deserve to live. Go and search history about India. How we treat women in our country(we literally worship them) and how much we have contributed to the world. Rapists are every where in the world not just in india.
You suckers,
I know how this is a late comment, but it’s not actually for you, but for the new readers indeed. “Worship women”? How did you come out with that? Losers, if you had read just one more of Victor’s articles you would know; but you are just kids that never grow up daydreaming about America and how you will possibly do something to change the world, break taboos or earn some worthless awards. There is no way in hell this mindset is going to make you successful! Focus on: $, the rest will follow.
what the hell are you taking ; i am an indian boy who have just turned 18 and whatever you are taking that was hundreds of years ago i guess ; in the morning only i saw a girl(20 i guess) slap a police officer in the middle of the road just because he said something and all the crowd was supporting the girl .;THIS IS INDIA ; we are the biggest democracy and girls are equall(or even more )respected here
All i have to say is do your research on history lol
As a European, India is a sick and barbaric country that needs feminism and tremendous reform. You should be glad that it is at least starting to show in the Indian female community. India is notorious for its oppression of women.
I’m not even indian but gosh that was rude have some sympathy towards other people Okay
Being an alpha, I find it difficult to believe that something is better if it’s not MINE. While India may be used (in all ways) by the developed countries to make big profits on (workers are paid less and so on), India has got the western culture all wrong. You cannot simply keep your actual traditions, and just spice them up with westernisarion. This also makes totally idiot people bravely making remarks of “who the hell do you think you are that talk like that for India?” which are really irrelevant. I am a motherfucking badass, suckers. My opinion is always prioritized over yours. Instead of dreams I have plans, and instead of words I got actions! So just shut up and face the reality, no matter how bitter it might be, it tells you which place you should keep. Btw, Alijah nothing personal with you.
Why do you think having money, power or being a man makes you ‘an alpha’? “My opinion is always prioritized over yours”… really? What are we, in year 1? This entire article, your comments and everything I have read so far only make you disrespectful of everyone you see as below you. Yes I am a woman, and you know what? I am not less important than you, and we do not want to manipulate any men to do anything…I honestly don’t care what you do with yourselves as long as you are respectful. Rape culture exists, women are being paid less in certain jobs, not all, and truthfully, your opinion on India is only an opinion, not a fact. I truthfully hope no 18 year old boys find this because it’ll bring back society 100 years back, and it makes me feel sorry for any of you who actually believe this. Who cares about how strong you are, or about how much money you make as long as you’re happy?? “I am a motherfucking baddass, suckers” really doesn’t show any intelligence, so why do I even bother writing this? - the answer is because I care, I care about your mothers, your girlfriends and every single person that will ever have any contact with your overegoistic neandrathal mentality. I know I’m being rude, but I guess you give what you take. Women aren’t objects, and feminism exists for a reason. So respect or expect what you give in return.
More like iraq
I’m 18 and this is the biggest motivational asskick i have ever seen! Thank you, Victor!
I’m 19 and this is the biggest motivational asskick i have ever seen! Thank you, Victor!
(Couldn’t of said it better)
Could this post potentially be a teaser for your next book? “Cub to king of the jungle”
You rock VP
i disagree with Victor, especially on the college issue (well only the college issue). you go to college to better your intelligence. I’m currently in college and ever since i went I’ve done nothing but gain knowledge and maybe I’m wrong but i think everyone needs an education. I’m not saying go to harvard or yale but get an education. you shouldn’t be telling us 18 yr olds that college isn’t the answer, lets say you didn’t go to college. would you even have this blog thing or whatever you wanna call it? you never know. if college is too expensive and you believe its a waste then don’t go but both my parents and my older sister (only by a few years) all have college degrees and are doing very well for themselves. my older sister is only 24 and makes almost 6 figures with her bachelors degree in psychology, she didn’t even stick around long enough to get a masters, nor did she do law/medical/engineering.
gtfo patricia
Maybe that was the case 30 years ago but now college has become a joke. I should know, I spent 14 years and 3 degrees to figure that out. Luckily I worked my ass off during college so the debt isn’t that bad.
But I digress.
The problem with college is not education. Education is extremely valuable and EVERYONE must get an education. However, college doesn’t offer an “education”, if offers you an expensive piece of paper to land you that “entry-level” job. The job where you will be paid less than an Applebees waiter and hopefully be able to climb that corporate ladder unless Julie in accounting thinks you were looking at her ass; then chumpo hit the bricks, you’re fuckin fired.
The basic principle of college is you are being taught by professors who haven’t been in the field for 10-20 years. None of their information is current. It’s all old. The textbooks are bland and useless and filled with information that has either already been disproved, or has been completely changed. Case in point I took a marketing class a few years ago and the teacher was still gabbing on and on about mail and cold calls, shit that no one listens to EVER.
Second, why do you have to take a gym credit or an art credit in college? What the fuck does badminton have to do with you becoming a doctor? Or a programmer? So glad you spent 3 grand on that pottery class. Enjoy paying for it until your 70.
Conversely, education is freely available everywhere. Take youtube for example; anything you’ve ever wanted to know, (and tons of shit you never wanted to know either) has not only been answered, but someone made a video about it. Let this concept digest for a bit, people make video tutorials that take up HOURS OF THEIR LIFE and you get to watch them for free!
Once you’ve consumed all the information you can find for free, there are plenty of online services like uDemy, Treehouse, Lynda.com etc that you can pay for only the exact courses you want and take them at your leisure. And they are fucking brilliant. Right now, I’m learning Javascript and I paid about $20 for the course. And I’ve already built a web app. Find one fucker in college who’s been in a beginner Javascript class for a week who’s already done that. Find me just one!
Case in point, we are living in the greatest age mankind has ever know, where the wealth of the world’s knowledge is available right at your fingertips and most of it, if you look hard enough, is either free or dirt cheap. There are no more excuses.
Hell yea! On my phone, I have this thing called “Learn HTML” and it is fantastic while being free the whole way!! Everything is Online, just do your own damn research and you will be blown away!!!
Have fun being in debt and being “over qualified for a job” my dad did the same thing. went to college and said he was going to become a successful business man. 4 years and a $100,000’s later he was “overqualified” for many jobs. prime example. just because you go to college doesn’t mean your going to be ahead. You just wasted 4 years of your life. while victor, everybody who didn’t go to college and i drinking out coconut smoothies on a beach somewhere!
There are case were college has ruined many lives…..for instance visit INDIA once and do the research about colleges here …..Education system is totally fuckedup ….. tons of engineers are manifactured u can say as this colleges are like factories making robots…….an engineer hardly earn 180 USD monthly…..we like to make our luck in ur countries but only nerds of our country get the opportunity……if u people think that we Indians are nerds by seeing the indian people living in ur places …..we r not the one to be blamed….
If you had the balls, you wouldn’t make $180 a month, but tou decided to take the “safe path” in life and not fight for your (happy) life in the long-term. My advice: GTFO of India, go follow your dream somewhere else. The best would be to come up with something innovative and eventually create a company, build your empire!
If education is what you seek, read a hundred (a thousand is better) non-fiction books. If a certificate is what you seek, perhaps college is right for you.
If money is what you seek, nobody is entitled to a living or lots of money. Money is made by solving a problem and meeting a market demand in some way. It’s made when you have balls and go after what you want and meet that market demand by creating a product as part of a business.
College might teach you some useful things - nobody is denying that. But there are other paths that will teach you more than college and build other useful skills and instil traits that college will not teach you. In terms of being successful, simple observation will show you that knowledge doesn’t mean much. Wise decisions, self-discipline, strong communication and social skills, and persistence are much more relevant. You can take other paths and work on those.
Better to think laterally and custom build your ideal life.
Victor, can you check if i am in banlist, because i can’t post a single comment. Thanks.
Bud, I see all your comments just fine.
victor, u truely r very generouis. no one give working advise fir free. im 19. this is going to work for me.
Victor is correct for the most part*
*Go to College and You will be able to say you did something by the time your in your early twenties. Also if you major in engineering, computer science, law or medicine, the chances of making +$100,000/year DRAMATICALLY increase. THIS IS BY THE FACT-MASTER©
Thanks, mang. I’m 18, spanish, and am wondering (Scratch that, panicking) about what the fuck do I do to make my life not suck. Look, I love my girlfriend, but we’re both 18, we’ve got long enough to map out our future. Anyway, reading this made me realize that, yeah, life moves fucking fast, but slow down. Life moves fast, but things repeat itself. So thanks for calming me down, thanks more for reading this if you do.
~Jay/Fam
I don’t know if this is too late for a response, but I have a serious question. I will be 18 in a month, and my future is something that I constantly worry about. I liked how you said you don’t need to choose one specific career or path in life, that you can do many things. But does this mean that I should forget about my dreams in a career? I want to go to college to study film, where hopefully it will lead me to a career; but I understand that it is very difficult to get a career in that field, especially because I live in Illinois. So what do you think? Is film just too much of a risk?
If you want to study film you should move to LA and get a job as a production assistant.
Need a job i live in delta nigeria
Victor,
Thank you for replying to my email. This is very helpful.
Cheers,
-Tom
Great post Vic,
I strongly agree with all 18, especially #3. College is a complete joke, there are more college graduates today than ever and the markets are over saturated. The thing I hate most is how these schools are still promoting false hope (generally speaking). I see the commercials and the literature all time, promoting a better future by getting a degree. What they should do is show statistics of how many of their graduates are able to find jobs (real jobs, not $8/hr jobs). It’s a money game for them. If you aren’t going to medical/law/engineering school then don’t bother.
I might would add a sub bullet to #1: Always wear a condom. Because if you get a girl pregnant, you might end up married whether you wanted to or not. Of course, #1 still holds true. You’ll end up divorced paying child support eventually. It’s sad but true. To you 18 year-olds, wear a condom or stay celibate. This will save you from obligated marriage and wasting the next decade and a half of your life.
I couldn’t have said this better myself, there is honestly no way. I think this is the best article you’ve ever written, Vic, it’s imperative young people know their options and life truths. I’m an example of this and I’m goddamn proud of it. I’m a damn smart guy and I always dreamed of going to university over here in Australia to get a degree in science and use it to become a scientist of some sort. I’m only young, and I only recently graduated highschool a few months ago but I’m mature beyond my years to the point where every person around me sharing my age group thinks I’m crazy with my realism. I was enlightened by life’s harsh truths and it’s taken me about a year to consolidate my new self and live with it. I owe at least 50% of my last 6 months of that to this website. The true gold in this site, among other people and things, has opened my eyes even further than before.
Once I started learning and reading from various online mentors on youtube and on this site I did a complete 180 in my life, especially to do with school. As I learnt and started thinking about my future (as such a young guy) I changed my mind entirely. Before I changed, I was saving up money for university and for residency there and I intended to use it throughout the next year. I wanted to go there and study, completely ignorant of what it all entailed and I thought my life would be awesome if I did that.
You know what I did? I took your advice about travel and because I started considering it, I spent the money I saved for university on planning a trip to Thailand in a couple of weeks time by myself so I can experience the country. I decided to travel. As I changed and took more and more advice from your site I used more and more of it. I developed a “fuck you, I’m me and I’m going to do what I want” attitude. I don’t mean that in the typical teenage way, a lot actually changed in my life. I separated from most of my friends and kept the ones that I decided were worthy and helpful to me, and kept my girlfriend. The others are probably aware of the change within me but none of them know what happened to my mind. Because of that, they don’t bullshit me anymore, they work for my attention, and they know I’m above them and no longer one of them.
The biggest changes came when I knew I would be getting an award for a subject I’m passionate about at the graduation ceremony and I decided not to go because hey, I’m graduating and there isn’t a point in a ceremony to tell me that is there? From then on I kept debating whether or not I really wanted to study after highschool. I told my family, because my mother, father and sister are all university graduates, that I’d be taking a gap year. They thought I was crazy, but I didn’t listen to them. I’ve now fully internally decided that I won’t be going, because I refuse to spend decades paying off 10s of 1000s in debt for a 3 year degree. They will think I’m nuts. All of my previous friends don’t know my plans, my girlfriend knows what things I’ve speculated on, and nothing else.
I’ve taken up bodybuilding because I was always kind of a fatty, now I look down on those people because of how lazy and undisciplined they are. Now it’s my passion and even though I don’t know my career I know my life will include fitness and lifting and nutrition. I don’t want to work for someone else now and be normal like my family, who all have thought they’ve done so well in life. I want to be an entrepreneur or have my hands in a busy building life.
Oh and did I mention I completed 30 Days Of Discipline recently too? I blogged about it over at (Strengthinconfidence.com) so other people know what it’s like. It’s given me great benefit most of all discipline. I now use my new perspective to find way to improve myself like listening to mentors (only take advice from those that make you think you should have thought of it) and reading and educating and I want to build something real for myself because I know if I don’t do something I love I’ll slowly die on the inside and I’ll forever be poor but I refuse!
I’m so different to everyone my age group I just left behind and I know I won’t end up like them. They think I’m nuts because I’m so different from them in mindset and intention.
I am so much more different from who I was, and this article’s points are things that I came to realise myself in the last year and I intend to personify them.
Best wishes,
B

There is also such a thing as being young, inexperienced, and reckless. Nothing wrong with chasing your dreams and making your desires a reality, but doing so without a plan that is realistic would require some rethinking. Been to your site and read the misguided article on resolve. I think you have it backwards young buck. Hopefully you put a bit more thought into your future than you did in that blog.
I need to know who you are and what your plans are. I am in the EXACT place youre in and I think we can make money together.
Victor — This article is a perfect summary of your entire website. At 54, I strongly concur with your advice. The reason your website makes money is that articles like these offer real value to men around the world. Much obliged.
As 40 year old who looks up to someone with 14 years more life experience than me, well said.
If you’re reading this you have no idea what life has in store for you. Live for the moment, prepare for the future, and be true to yourself.
Lots of things I wish I’d known at 18, and I used to dwell on the regret. No point in that though. Thanks to this and other motivational websites, my life is getting on track.
It has become hard for me to believe how people can spend their whole lives in a cubicle. I used to think that way and it’s a depressing way to think. Just gotta open your mind and realize the sky’s the limit.
Good post as usual Victor.
P.S. Going into big debt to go to a mediocre college is a bad idea, but if you can go to a good college with minimal debt, it’s not a bad idea. I actually learned a lot in those four years and made lots of friends who are friends for life. However, I realize I’m the exception to the rule.
All very valid points, that I live by myself. I was lucky to discover those a few years around the age of 18, so it makes me happy to know that you probably save a lot of other guys with this post as well! Great work as always, Victor. Dinner is on me if you ever drop by Denmark.
This is a great list. The only one I don’t know about is number 1. I have never been in love so I cannot speak for an 18 year old in love. My parents married at 18 and it was the best decision they ever made so what’s right for some is not for others.
Regardless all the others speak volumes. I passed on a pro soccer career in Europe to go to college and I now see college is not necessary. i dont plan on working as a mechanical engineer much longer. But I did have an amazing time and it brought me to where I am today.
All in all, good post.
Amazing article ! :) . My paradigm shift came later than my 18. Propably if I have read it back then I wouldnt believe it. Best regards !
As someone who is not much older than 18 and has just started to take control of his life, I have a few questions for you.
1) I do agree with you that in the long run, a college degree would be a waste of time. However, having come from a poor family, I worked hard in high school to get into a school that is number one in its field, and it is a substantive major-Finance. My intention is to first have a consulting gig with a large company for ONLY 2 YEARS (to pay off my debt, learn, and make connections-As Felix Dennis says, a job should be treated merely as an apprenticeship to learn the skills needed). Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
2) One of the greatest methods by which a young man can focus, I feel, is conserving his seminal energy, as Napoleon Hill mentioned. Most young men don’t have the discipline to focus their sexual energy and end up wasting it. I have been tremendously motivated, strong, and confident as a result of my practice of this and I plan to stay this way until I achieve success-becoming rich. What would you recommend?
Sounds solid.
I love your no BS style of writing- it is so motivational.
“Working in offices is for women and girly-men.” I absolutely agree! I am a woman who works in an office and I have never, ever been attracted to office men. My husband works manual labour and nothing is sexier than seeing him at the end of the day in dirty work clothes with his steel toe boots on.
How about this. Im 23, spent the past four years as a scout in two wars earning a free college. Patriotism and all that bs aside, I did it only so I could go to school debt free and I didnt want to be a pussy. Starting spring im on the track to getting a masters in Petroleum Engineering by my late 20s and im getting paid to do it and not work menial jobs to survive. So free time and free money is going to business ventures and molding my body into the greek god I know it can be. On top of all this I already found a great woman, she Wants to cook, clean, serve, calls me sir and so far has literally just followed me around the country just to support me. She was one of those shy cute types from a small town when I met her. All in all i think Im doing well, however I wish I had had this blog when I was 17 then Id be way ahead way quicker. Question for you is, is going to college and keeping a woman still a bad idea?
“Question for you is, is going to college and keeping a woman still a bad idea?”
In your case no, not at all. I never said keeping a woman was a bad idea, but keeping an unworthy one is a bad idea.
Sounds like you might be one of the exceptions to the rule about college; you aren’t going into debt, you know what you want, and petroleum engineering pretty much guarantees you a good job. On the other hand, a master’s would eat six years of your life. There are two reasons I can think of you might want to take a pass: first, if you’re not good at math, you’ll never get the degree and you’re just wasting your time. Second, unless petroleum engineering is something you have a genuine interest in, you could be heading in an unpleasant direction that will be hard to ever turn around. Either you’ll bail on it before you save enough money to really matter, or you’ll wind up in a career you hate and can’t afford to leave. Especially if you wind up with a family.
Which brings us to the second point: there may be a rare American girl worth spending more than one night with, but no matter how perfect she seems, NEVER MARRY her. Marriage works a Jekyll and Hyde transformation on most women, and you are taking an unimaginable risk for no benefit at all. When you marry you effectively become the woman’s property, at least in Western countries. You get nothing, she gets everything. If a woman wants to get married, kick her to the curb.
Abgrund, great points and I have and am constantly considering them. What I know is that Ive been to the bottom, and Ive come very far to even get where I am now, and I dont plan on stopping. I dont know for sure if I want to pursue PetroEng but that was my old mans advice, he said thats where the money is. Honestly dont know what I want to do. But Ive got the goal now and focused in on it like a laser, I still have a window of opportunity to change it though.. Regarding the girl, Im with Victor and all of you on how western women are worthless for the most part. I was extremely surprised to find this one, I met her in the middle of the sonoran desert by extreme chance and shes defied all of my expectations. Shes what I imagine when you hear “behind every great man is a great woman”. I could be brainwashed, but i doubt it. But she knows the score, if she sticks around while im in school, and takes care of herself and proves not to be a financial or emotional burden then in our mid thirties ill give her a ring. In the mean time, Im keeping her around cause shes good to look at, cooks better than your mother, is an insane freak in the bed, and obsessed with keeping healthy and pleasing me. Been steady like this for a year. So im gonna keep her, and I hope all you Men can find a Woman like this.
I don’t recommend pursuing any career just because someone else says “that’s where the money is”. In petro, you can make good money, at least for the foreseeable future, but expect to work brutal hours and spend a lot of time in crappy places. If you are willing to spend a few years working yourself to death in some dangerous foreign hell hole, away from your honey, and have the discipline not to waste your money on luxuries like decent food or visits home, you can indeed pile up cash very quickly. What usually happens though is that guys can’t take the deprivation and they move into something less demanding or burn all their money on distractions. Either way, you should expect to spend the rest of your life doing engineering, either for someone else or as a principal, if running a business is your thing. When you have a steadily growing six figure income you will find it very difficult to change your vocation.
Luckily you don’t have to commit yourself to petro right at the beginning, and you won’t be a slave to student loans if you put in a couple of years and bail. But the more of your life you have invested in it, the harder it will be to walk away. There are other ways to make money, and if you have a genuine interest in something else (something real, not English Lit), I’d recommend pursuing that even if it’s not as lucrative.
As far as the girl, all I can say is good luck. Like I said, most women do a Jekyll and Hyde thing as soon as they get married. If she starts pestering you about “commitment”, that’s Mrs. Hyde impatient to have her day.
I can do all the above mentioned, hell its what I did to get to this point, and one of the the things that attracted me to the business. Good money, applied science and engineering, but getting field work in. I dont want a flourescent lit career or workspace. I want to be outside, travelling and making money.
Good luck C_rush. It seems you know pretty much what you are up for.
Might be a bit of a late post, but I’m in this industry so I feel I can speak to it with knowledge.
Working in upstream in the oil industry is lucractive right now. PetEng and geologists right out of college start with six-figure compensation. You might be expected to go abroad (expat) for a couple of years sometime in the first few years. The locations are usually crappy (Angola, Kazakhstan) but can also be interesting and fun (Colombia, Malaysia). Just depends on who you work for. When you go expat, you usually get a compensation adjustment (extra money) just to go, rent paid by the company, and a few free airline tickets a year to travel or go home. If you’re working offshore on a rig, well, that’s different…you’ll have weird schedules and cramped living quarters…it’s not pleasant. Expat is definitely a better way to go if you can get such a gig. All in all, you can do very, very well as a young person and if your expenses are reasonable you can sock away mountains of cash very quicky. If you’re really willing to go balls to the wall, you can get work up at Fort McMurray in the Canadian oil sands. I know operators and such, no college degree required, who make 200k-300k to work 6 to 8 month a year, with housing and food provided for them. Of course, the reason for that is because you’re in the middle of nowhere on the Arctic Circle with no women around. Working in upstream is not a bad way to start out.
Hey Vic,
Great article. I’m 23, but this article still gives me the motivation I need.
Point 10 really stands out to me. Right now I’m focused on building internet businesses while following 30 days of discipline (its now a lifestyle for me). And recently it seems like people are always telling me I need go out to the bars more and spend a $1000 on a spring break trip and so on. Of course their reasoning is YOU’LL NEVER HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE LIKE THIS AGAIN. I just laugh in my mind when I hear this.
So to hear you say the same thing is great. I know I’m headed in the right direction as long as I persist.
Thank you, Vic.
Does anyone know of a way to get an offshore oil rig job like that? Do you have to just move to Canada and go apply then or can you do it from the US? Or are there any other places to get an offshore oil rig job besides Canada?
I concur 100%. This is all great advice, and #1 is to be followed strongly. Choosing a female mate is critical to your success in life and to not having some feminist cry baby wife divorce you and take several suitcases of money as she departs. Our culture has pushed this feminist BS, and now there are generations of women in America that are not worth being married to…these feminist women leave a trail of destruction in their wake…and you need to spare yourself from being one of their victims. I believe that because our culture and legal system supports women and encourages women to divorce…I believe that marriage is almost dead in America. What is the point of getting married when our legal system allows a woman to divorce you and take over half of everything you have busted your azz to earn. If you must get married find a woman that is not a feminist, and find a woman that believes in traditional old school values.
I worked my way thru college at an Exxon station doing forty hours a week and going to school fulltime, and you do not see that kind of determination much anymore. I will say that my college degree helped me get real estate loans because without a degree the bankers would not have made me loans in my early start up years. I became a multi-millionaire by buying and rehabbing houses and multi family properties in Austin Texas. It was not my college degree that helped me become successful, but it was my tough hard azz work ethic that made me successful.
A great post that all young men should read over and over again.
Hey brother, Ive just moved to Austin with the same intentions, you have any room in your operation for a man looking to work?
Crush,
I am not doing any more buying and rehabbing in Austin these days because the market changed. I have moved out towards west Texas. I do not want to change the topic of Vic’s main post. Thanks.
A+ comment, Keith.
I agree with you Keith. I also noted what you said about your college degree being the start up point for you. This is crucial in our society to be credible. Once you have that degree the world is your oyster.
I am a woman and in total agreement with you and Victor regarding feminism. Marriage should be
forever helping each other reach your goals with love.
Marriage is being torn apart with feminism and women giving themselves so men don’t need to marry. Also, with the marriage of 2 men or 2 women it makes a joke of even being married.
We need traditional values to come back to save our country.
I wish i had a list like this when i was 18! It would have changed my life for the better!!
Great Post!
Great post, we’re talking about it in the forum.
Thanks Vic, what a great article!
You are chaning so many guys´s lifes, thanks for that!
As a young man you can be free to date around and play the field. As a old man you can be free to date around and play the field. Females age not good, males age just perfect because their financial income will rise. Also do what you want, there are no general rules. Asking others is for Boys, Self-Interest is for Men. Plus what is with all these bodybuilding discriminating faggots all over the world? Whether they go to college, higschool, are entrepreneurs, doctors.. As soon as you look buff you get jealous stares…faggots.
Outstanding information. I got into bodybuilding at age 60. That was 4 years ago. Most men my age are in terrible shape. I work very hard not to be that guy. Don’t believe anyone that says you can’t build serious muscle after age 60. Guys, I get a real thrill ,when a younger woman looks me over..
I wish I had experienced all the over hyped pleasures (sex, drugs etc) before 18. I could have used all my time without those distractions very productively
>“This is the best time of your life. It’s all downhill from here“
The people who say this are the ones who didn’t build a future for themselves.
Heck, even a 40-year-old can turn his life around with enough willpower.
Hello Vic,
i ones followed your great 30 days of Discipline, it was great and i want to repeat, this time with my little 17 year old brother who needs to get the askick i got from you.
I want to ask you if it´s necessary to follow rule number one if he is a hardgainer? I mean you really start building muscle when you have more Kcal than you need, and in our family we are all skinny, with good presposition to build defined muscle but not mass.
I´m now on 250 Tes-E / e3d, i went from 69 kg when i started training Aug. 2012 and now i´m on 87 kg no side so far. So i´ve read that i can eat as much as i want.
Thanks!
regards from Germany
Co
sorry, just overlooked the passage where you tell that it´s ok.
Also, along with your recommendation to NOT take testosterone, I would also recommend to NOT take Adderall, Modafinil, etc until your at least 25 too. Recently on the Bulletproof executive podcast, they talked about how this can mess shit up since your brain isn’t full finished developing until age 25, and it’s not a good idea, like testosterone at an early age.
http://www.bulletproofexec.com/71-hacking-your-intelligence-with-hunter-maats-and-katie-obrien-podcast/
Yes, 25 is the appropriate age. I say 22 as absolute bare minimum, but 25 is the real deal.
The guy behind Bulletproof Executive although, is a general proponent of Modafinil:

Great post today. Definitely some valuable information.
Victor,
My goal is to make $1000 a month online and then once I reach that point I am going to move to a country with a lower cost of living and save my money for other future business ventures and investments. Right now I’m working a 9 to 5 and saving as much as I can but I only make $8.50 per hour. I just recently started my first niche website and although I don’t expect to make much on my first one (if anything at all) I hope to at least make something to prove to me it is a worthwhile business model. And if it works, I will build more.
Anyways, I was wondering if you have any advice on other things I could try if this plan doesn’t work? I am confident it will work because I have done my research and I am putting a lot of work in to it but I still want to have other options. I am sick of being a wage slave. Thanks
“Anyways, I was wondering if you have any advice on other things I could try if this plan doesn’t work?”
Yeah, keep trying. A young man can fail a thousand times, big deal. It only takes once to strike gold so don’t give up.
This article provokes a lot of questions to the curious minds of young men like myself. It is not unpleasing reading about something you look to accomplish (college, a job, money, etv)yet it is the truth. I am a firm believer of being able to do whatever you want in life. At the same time this outlook on life can also assure debt of life. Without investing in your future you may just fall to the poor of society today. Why waste intelligence on chanc? Yet it isn’t chance necessarily because you must go out and take it. Either way you’ll get it. Take it. And assume it all to yourself. Because no one else does really matter. Especially chicks!!! The choice of college or pursuing your hustle is a rash one indeed.
Dear Mister Pride,
I have been waiting for a long time for this article. As a matter of fact i am so thankful for this I have tears in my eyes.
You see I just turned nineteen and I am glad I discovered your blog and bought your book “30 days of discipline” not too long ago. It has been such an eye opener.
Even after finishing I still take cold showers and keep eating steak and eggs. I lift every day and have quotes from your articles pinned on the walls of my tiny one room appartment. I don’t know what i would be doing now without discovering B&D. Honestly everything has changed since I started reading your blog. I even got myself a high and tight (at a barber, not some gay ass coiffeur!) and wear it proudly together with my winner wolf bottom up shirts in black and tailored jeans (everything bought from my OWN money)on every day of the week except for sunday. I followed your advice and am a proud owner of a merkur 34c coming with all the necessary classics.
After graduating an academic high school I made it to Tokyo where I stayed for a few weeks at a relative’s home. This guy makes serious cash and has an appartment in a skyscraper for rich people. Like serious rich. The rent costs 20 times more than i make a month. The parking lot has Porsche and Ferraris all over the place. Really high class.
One day I got back from partying in Roppongi at arround 2am and simply spend the rest of the night starring down on the glowing lights of minato with a can of beer in my hand. Asking myself: “What the fuck am i doing with my life?!”
I felt really helpless for the first time in my life and realised that I was all on my fucking own. Everybody expected me to join the military and study medicine. The deal had been running for almost 2 years (passed all psychological and physical tests) and now that i had taken my A levels I was one signature away from over 20 years of duty.
The fear and lack of orientation did not let me sleep and I spend the rest of the holiday simply drowning my sorrows in booze.
2 things happened that changed my mind:
1.) Read some articles on Bold and Determined.
2.) Read Mr. Ferris 4hour Workweek
No fucking arround and serving this machine anymore! I want to be free and do whatever the hell excites me. I don’t care what i have to do to get there. If it means to swim across the fucking ocean i’ll do that. If it means to eat dirt and live on less money than I life on right now (below 600 bucks a month) I’ll fucking do it.
Once I got home i cancelled the deal with the military. Everybody got pissed. My golden, well paid future-GONE. then I missed the registration date for college in my country ON PURPOSE. The shitstorm that followed made me decide that i had to get away as far and as long as possible.
So I packed my bags signed up for university in another country and bought myself my own appartment.
I am currently an undergrad for microbiology, cool stuff but it is not what i want to do later in life. The decision to study here was merely a way for me to escape from my family, friends and all the losers that held me back for so long. I never attended the honor ceremony of my graduation and did not go to the parties that ensued.
I cut everything loose by moving away, deleted my facebook account, changed my email.
I don’t even have a phone anymore. I refuse to be brainwashed by all these idiots.
Mister Pride I want to learn everything I can to become rich and free. Already have an idea what my business will look like.
I read your blog and the books you recommend all day and night. Even during lectures.
Is there a possibility to give me a summary of blogs, books, helpful links and resources that you trust outside of B&D?
To be honest i don’t care if you respond to this or not. I know you will read this and I know it will fire you up. Just like you fire us ALL up.
You don’t even fucking know how much your articles have changed my mindset. My entire life.
I wish you all the best my friend. One day we’ll meet in bangkok and I can shake your hand and thank your for everything personally.
Tony.
Great comment Tony. In a few days I will make this the featured comment on the home page.
I lived in hcmc very recently and I didn’t see white entrepreneurs. It’s very hard to get business done in Vietnam.
Last time I was there, 6 weeks ago, I met at least 15 of them. They don’t do business in Vietnam, they do business online.
Victor ! Victor! Victor! Damn ur good I can now say I was blind but now I see!!! Thank u sooooo much now I knw exactly wwat to do
Victor, please enable a printout function. Thanks.
As an 18 year old kid in university, I can say that Victor has definitely changed my world view and stopped me from just mindlessly following the traditional path. I’m not chasing girls anymore, I’m breaking PR’s in the gym all the time, eating steak and eggs every day, studying a STEM major, working a part-time sales job on the side and putting my spare time (and cash) into learning how to generate more income via investing and internet marketing, and networking with successful guys who carved their own path. Without coming across B&D a few months ago, I would be stuck on the same treadmill to nowhere just like the other guys my age.
Thanks Uncle Victor.
Ps. what’s your opinion on studying in Germany to take advantage of the almost non-existant tuition fees in most of the country? Seems like the smartest thing to do if you want to study and avoid most of the college debt-trap (yes, some causes are taught in english).
“Seems like the smartest thing to do if you want to study and avoid most of the college debt-trap”
Friend, you just gave the answer right there.
#10 “You have a future” is an important thing to remember. I remember when i was a teenager people (loser types in their 40’s) would always tell me that these will be the best years of my life. With this in mind i wasted a lot of my teenage years, trying to “have fun”. party ect when i could have been building my body, my business, my mind and my life. Like you said, regrets are pointless but if i could be transported back to my teens i would have started building my life IMMEDIATELY. My teens sucked, btw all that “trying to have fun” nonsense was a waste of time, i spent my teens years, girless and unpopular i might as well spent that time building my life. I’m much more excited about my future then i am reminiscent of my past.
when i was 18 i jetted out of home and left the coup. i traveled all over europe and australia, doing this and that settling in asia. my dad told me i was crazy and would end up broke (even though i’m buying my house cash in 6 months on a tropical island at aged 28 and have never had a “career” and have probably had 40-50 “jobs” in my life because i would never settle for shit until i found one that paid and gave me the time i want), but my mum told me i was doing the right thing. i live in SE Asia now, I’m 100% debt free and i do work on an offshore oil rig making more money than i can spend. , and its ever increasing.
One point i really think you younger guys should pick up on: women will really fuck your life. we have been fed so much holywood bullshit that we have come to believe it. it’s taken me ten years, countless thousnads of wasted dollars, and several severe emotional wrecks to realize this: you find a decent looking woman who’s pretty but doesn’t know it, you find one who has strong family values and possibly has been brought up in a conservative environment and you train her how to be your wife - these desperate housewife type of bitches who glorify cheating, flings and lunchtime martinis make me sick, and the sooner men start rejecting THEM and not playing the game on their terms, the better.
Save your money, invest in stocks and give that little business idea a go - the world is full on incompetent morons running business empires - believe in yourself. I’ll bet you can do it better.
Any marriage and family problems arise out of the man’s failure (not even weakness), unwillingness (not even inability) or unreadiness (not even unpreparedness) to take and keep the leadership. I know this. I changed my mind, I changed my attitudes and behaviours, and my relations with the wife changed drastically. You are right when you say that the man has to take decisions and carry them out in a disciplinned manner. Marriage and family is not a burden, I believe many will agree. Marriage and family is a decision, a lifetime project requiring as much equity investment and effort as any other aspiration of the man. As long as you find a lady that supports and adds to you, not undermines or subtracts from you. Family has always and will always require much money and time and attention. But the man should not consider those as a useless waste or a barrier on his way to success. The family gives one what nothing else can give. It also requires devotion, commitment.
As to college, you are damn right. I spent lots of nerves, money and time wasting my time in a most ugly way one can imagine. The modern education system is a complete scrap. Spending 4 years on the study of things that do not make sense outside of the university’s walls is the wildest disregard to any human being. Self-study is always the key - because you know what you need and you take it. No extra knowledge, theory, etc. No BS (bullshit, not balance sheet this time)… : )
As to buying on credit, I have always used consumer borrowings to make major acquisitions only to allocate the price over a longer period of time. To avoid paying a comparately large amount of cash at a time. In doing so, I have always followed one rule: I am at all times able to settle the debt in full out of my monthly earnings. Just in case. The only exclusion was my 3-year mortgage loan. Another rule - buy things that release you from daily routine, give you some leisure, extra hours to do what you want, but lack time to, not things that deprive you of leisure. After joining this great site, I threw away all my CDs with movies and games, all story and fiction books and any other stuff that one should certainly get rid of if he values his time. Now I only read to improve my skills, be that English or accounting or both. And I strongly believe that every man should do so - throw away all the stuff that takes his precious real life experiences.
i went a different route- joind the navy, ran all over the world. now i’m a burnt out medic that’s going to welding school after i retire in Cajun country to work…ON OIL RIGS. lol.
loved thailand though. i was raging on less than $100 a day.
very good advice Victor.
As a mid-40 y/o - I can say that most of this is spot on and very good advice for a young male. These are principles that I had used, unconsciously, and they have served me well. I would only say that College can be useful as a stepping stone provided 1) you do not incur massive debt, and 2) you get a degree and/or go to a school that will actually get you a job. Remember - starting an internet business is great - but if you don’t become successful at it right away - you will become another 20 -something with no education - and then you will not get any job - period- because you don’t have an education. The right education (and I’m using that term broadly to mean skills, a trade, or even a formal degree) can provide the means to make a lot of money. I make a shit load of money working as an executive in a Consulting firm - but granted - it took me 20 years to do it - working hard, and continually building knowledge and being disciplined. Yes - I work ‘for the man’ but I have a nice life. There are always more than one option available - as Vic said - so try doing your business on the side while you learn a trade or get an education - then, when the $$$ is there - you can go full-time.
The advice about focusing on your career, building your body, etc. are all things that I highly recommend. You need to build assets when you’re young - and knowledge and discipline are probably the best assets you can have - that will allow you to grow, prosper and continue to make money.
Good advice on not getting married too- unless you really want a family. I got married in my early 30’s to a great gal and my wife brought a lot to the table in terms of financial assets and a good, stable and supportive family. We don’t have kids because neither of us wanted to be tied down financially, time-wise or emotionally with raising a child. Life is hard enough without that. If you want a family or want to get married someday - great - but you should read Vic’s post on finding the right woman - making the wrong choice here can lead to ruin. Don’t rush into it. I can’t tell you how many young men I know who are in their mid-20’s and complaining that they want to find someone to settle down with. WTF? that’s the wrong attitude. Focus on career, making money, getting experience and building knowledge first - always - there is always time for women and the older and more accomplished you are - the more women will want to be with you.
Good luck.
This is a damn good list right here. Very motivational.
One more great article for me to put in the vault and show my boys when they are older. I´m not s sure about college, but that is fine. Sometimes I have the feeling college made at least some good to you, at least in the sense of “enriching the mind” (even if by exposing you to things you despised). I have a friend who studied medicine and later became a great, and recently a very rich, entrepreneur - as you he believes college is BS and waste of time, but if you look at his business it has all to do with what he has studied and I can hardly see how he could have done it without college. I agree the kind of business you are in does not necessarily demands it tough. In any case, this is a minor disagreement, keep up the great work.
Greetings Victor and co.Thank you for the post.
G. Alexander Orndorff once said
“No one can become rich without enriching others. Anyone who adds to prosperity must prosper in turn.” And that is clearly what Victor pride is doing.
I also have to add the following things.
1.Build a Library.Reading is one of the most essential habits that should be incorporated into your life style.
It is very important to learn about mistakes and success of various successful men.Now you ask well
what to read?
You see the beauty of sites like that by reading just one recommend book, you will be exposed to other
similar people who have achieved success through means of their websites, twitter,Facebook, etc.
Or type in the name of any successful man and most likely he has some best-selling books on amazon. Now you may say you don’t want to carry all those books.Well then single up for kindle on amazon.
“Well I don’t have a kindle” Dosen’t matter I used to think that too but due through sites like this I
discovered that you can download the app on your table and/or smartphone and even read the books on
on your computer. From there you can add books to your online library or the “cloud” as some would say.
2.Network
Another miracle of the internet it that we can contact guys like Bill Gates,Donald Trump,Elon Musk etc.
Though sending a email through their own websites, twitter,Facebook,Skype, etc.100 years ago if you wanted to
contact guys like Napoleon Hill you had to write a letter or travel to them(still a good option) that’s if you even knew
who he was.
My friends take advantage of sites like this, take advantage of your youth, take advantage of the internet.
These successful men did not have to share their advice.Their is no gun pointed to their head forcing them
to spill their beans. They do it because they care about us they want to prevent us from making the mistakes they
made so that we may have a easier more fulling time on this earth. And if you are not making use of this you
my friend are doing all these guys both past, present, and future a great disservice.
Ciao
Thanks a lot for the post.
Victor if one wants to create a product say for instance a unique Iphone case.Is it better to start it up in the states or places like Asia?
A product like that would almost certainly be manufactured in China, but your location doesn’t particularly matter. To put it another way, there’s no reason to leave the States unless you want to.
Victor, what are your thoughts on revenge and deep-seated desire to get even on someone who has wronged you (“wronged” being a strong understatement)?
From a 19-year-old and long-time fan of B&D.
I’ll tell you: success is the best revenge and revenge is the best fuel.
Wow, if only I read this when I was 18.
If there is one article for a young man to read, this is it!
great article…I agree with getting jacked and looking good however what about when you are older like 70 or 80 plus? it’s hard to look great like you at that age even with trt…any suggestions?
Eat right and exercise. See Jack LaLanne. He died in his 90’s and he was still jacked, a term they coined for him. Jack=jacked.
Great Post Vic. Even though I haven’t been 18 years old for a very long time, I plan to implement a good portion of your advice. I also make sure my nephews, who are 22 and 23, read your posts as well.
Keep up the great work Vic.
Leon.
I really appreciate your knowledge Vic. Great work.
Dude great post. However .. . ‘ “Never pay attention to the “money is the root of all evil” talk. The people who say this are morons.” ‘
Actually, it’s “LOVE OF ALL money is the root of all evil.” (Bible) Or as Twain put it: “LACK OF MONEY is the root of all evil.”
I don’t care what the original quote is, I have heard a million morons say “money is the root of all evil”.
Every article I have ever read on this site is has been poignant but this is simply a masterpiece. It is the male manifesto. I read it to my two sons. I have been installing these points in them since they could talk and lead by example. I realize my sons have an asset every young man needs but so few have, a positive male role model. I would like to bestow my deepest gratitude to you Victor. Your work enlightens and encourages so many young men, mine included. It’s great to read the other comments and see men on the right track heading for the winner’s circle. You WILL NOT get there with debt, laziness or an undermining female partner. You WILL get there with discipline, determination and relentless drive. And you can get there faster with a mentor. My dad was mine. I was lucky, my dad was a man’s man. I honor him by raising my sons the way he raised me. Bold and Determined gives all the advice I was raised on to a generation of young men who have few real men to model themselves after. I challenge all of you winner wolves out there to another discipline; the stewardship of successful young men. Be a mentor to a younger man on his way up. Let’s aim to teach these young men all of this great information well before they turn eighteen. Great work Victor!
Ray, that’s great to hear.
Ray,
Great post! I commend you sir!
This is 100% truth, people will hold you back, be it friends, girlfriends, family. They try to brain wash you tell you:
” Don’t lift weights! what for ? You look great as is.Sure you gained a few pounds since we met but I STILL LOVE YOU” Girlfriend wants you to stay as you are they fear and get jealous you’ll improve and dump them, TRUE because she’s holding you back.
”I don’t know son the economy is in the toilet you sure you wanna start a business”. Yeah just be quite and DO YOU, one of my favorite lines. Live your life and do what ever you want, if you fail o’well, if your’re single and have no kids start again
“Bro, fuck work it’s Thu night and ladies night come on!!!” Bro, your’re gonna fuck bitches regardless. It’ll come like a domino effect, work and do what you have to do first. Then rejoice and there is no greater feeling then accomplishing what you set your mind on.
”Success is when preparation meets opportunity”. My uncle told me that phrase and it’s stuck in my head. How the fuck do you expect to get to the top without preparing yourself, unless your a slut banging her way to the top and that’s a topic for another day.
Victor,
I am a teenager. I am walked all over by assholes. They stupid stuff to me, that makes them look good in front of girls. All I do is stay red in the face. I am unconfident. They take what they want, and I don’t. They are all assholes and I can’t tell if they are all just insecure, or act like real men, even at a young age. What do I do? How do I make them scared to anger me? How do I act like a man? Feminism made me this way when I was young.
How do I become, act, and look like a man? I will not live my life like this any longer.
I’m guessing Victors response would be: Dont give a fuck about them, go to the gym, lift big, lift often, and eat more. Improve yourself, build yourself up.
Put into action the words you read on the website for winners.
At your age, I wish someone encouraged me to get a hobby to be proud of. Which can be just about anything, playing an instrument, drawing, woodworking, welding. Something more tangible than being good at some videogames.
On top of that, make high quality friends who have discipline and ambition. The easiest way to do that is join some kind of physical club. Boxing, tennis, swimming, parkour… Just about anything really.
Anonymous,
As a teenager, you don’t yet have the life experiences that build confidence. Being strong helps, though. So does learning how to fight. But you need self-discipline as well as confidence. Only the man with discipline can ever be free. Others will notice if you lack discipline, and they will manipulate you in one way or another. But if you have discipline, others will respect you.
Discipline means your action follows your steady, long term intent. It means not yielding to fear, pain, embarrassment, horniness, insecurity, boredom, fatigue, or any other form of discomfort.
The best way to attain discipline is by practice - taking the unpleasant or dangerous course of action because you need to or have to, or just to test yourself. The main purpose of Army “boot camp” is to teach discipline. I’ve never read Thirty Days of Discipline but it sounds like a similar program, without the four+ year commitment. It might be a good place for you to start.
When you say “If I were 18 years old right now this is exactly what I would do: I would skip college, I would read the Fastlane Forum voraciously, I would save up two thousand dollars and I would move to either Chiang Mai, Thailand or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Those two places are filled to the brim with young, white foreign entrepreneurs who spend their time networking, building businesses and partying and they live on about $500 per month while doing it. ”
What kind of business would you start up before that money runs out?
The idea was to get an online business that can cover $500 / month, minimum. From there, grow in an environment filled with people that work the money making game.
Med student here.
I do what I want and absolutely love what I do.
Yeah, yeah, I know I’m in debt. I pay off half my units as I go and am in debt for the other half.
Thing is, I feel free. I’m studying because I WANT to. I have the resolve to kick my degrees’ ass and start my own gym before I finish, and get outta debt ASAP. I already PT to get by - doing something else I love to make a living- so I can easily see it becoming a business on the side. Sometimes Uni (I’m an Aussie) is a necessary evil. Yeah it seems crazy to get into all that debt - but if you pick your degree wisely and don’t just go to uni because your parents told you to or because it’s the ‘done thing’ - if you do What YOU want to do - then I say go for it. Just make it count significantly in your life, and pay for as much of it upfront as you can. We need paramedics, nurses, engineers…just don’t study arts or reading or teaching or any shit like that. What a joke.
Intelligence; is now defined as ones ability to function within ones own socio-cultural setting, with what they personally deem as successful and fulfilling. We all have different desires and subjective opinions as what it means to be a ‘success’. We also have to keep in mind that some people are generally happy, whether financially free or not, with their current circumstances. So burn your own path and let others be.
However, it takes people taking action and charge to wake some absolute sleep walkers out of their slumber of life. The current state of young western culture sickens me, as a 25 year old male from Aus. Physical degradation, drug dependency, violence, escapism into gaming and sport, getting drunk multiple times a week, social media and technology dependence, lack of respect for the elderly and general lethargy. I currently study, however I planned to and put in 100% effort. I think if this post could be summed up in a few words to me it would be ‘fail to plan, you plan to fail’. Never ever ever give your money/focus or time away to unworthy pursuits that will not result in your freedom,well-being or development. Never ever give away capital that could be working for you to petty pursuits. Stay away from negative , unhappy people. Model traits and characteristics of people you admire, but do not become or imitate them. Keep an open mind, but not so open your brain falls out. You WILL NOT get free, if you don’t get free. Freedom is action. Action away from the physical and mental shackles of society. Save your money. Fuck xbox’s, ‘partying’, expensive food, movies, gaming, hanging out with mates who do nothing, talk about nothing, offer nothing. Incorporate these as privileges when you are well on the way to meeting goals. Goals/Freedom first, always. Bit of a rant. ‘ The successful person is the ordinary person, with laser like focus’ Bruce Lee. Peace.
Excellent advice, dude. I feel the same re the drinking culture etc. Modern culture is adrift and cluless. Its up to us guys to become spartans and lead the young by example.
Solid post! I am grateful to have this wonderful list at my disposal being only 20 years old(18 would have been better).
Victor, would there be a chance of a future post on International wealth diversification and tax “avoidance” using LLCs and/or IBCs and setting up a bonafide tax residency for perpetual travel etc…?
I think we’ll see some stuff like that in the future of B&D.
And also on opening account in foreign countries.
Hey Vic,
What is your recommendation for ab exercises for the beginner starting a full body workout?
Victor how do I squat without a squat rack? I do not have enough money to buy a squat rack. Nor so I have enough to go to a gym. I would appreciate your advice,
Thanks
Dave
Improvise. You can’t squat real weight without a squat rack. So what do you do if you don’t have money? Improvise. Build a couple wooden saw horses and use them as a makeshift squat rack.
There are lots of workarounds if you think about it. I once knew a guy who hung a barbell from the rafters of his shed, and one who built a squat rack from scrap metal. Then there are hack squats and T-bar squats. I have a self-spotting barbell of my own design. For that matter a deadlift isn’t that different from a squat in terms of muscles and movement.
Do one legged squats.
Yo, victor I wish i knew this when i was 18. You speak the truth bro, Keep it up…Really diggin your style of writing (very motivating)
#13 made me laugh out loud “Feminism has left you with a pool of women who are truly insane”
Enjoy your insights and out of the box thinking.
I did some corporate cubical time in my 20’s, then made my escape into sales after feeling like a caged zoo animal in the “office world”. Then my own business. Freedom has always been the driving force for me. My advise is to never let society cut off your nut sack and get you domesticated into the matrix of control. Wrong women and mindless debt are to be avoided.
Vic, just thought I’d let you know that tomorrow I’m going to eat lightening and shit thunder because this post came at the perfect time in my life. It must feel great to motivate so many people like you do, keep it up mate.
Vietnam and Thailand have semi-hostile visa policies.
You can use loopholes but they are getting fewer and more expensive..
…fairly xenophobic s.o.b’s too….that doesn’t include the ladies of course.
I would give Cambodia a go these days…easy visas but the infrastructure is behind its neighbours.
When it comes to lifting weights, are rest days necessary? Do you lift 7 days a week Victor?
I lift 4-6 days per week, depending on the week, where I am etc.
Sorry Victor but I think you’re way off the mark with No. 11 “PAY ATTENTION TO MONEY”. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that money is important but to trying to convince young men to “Never pay attention to the “money is the root of all evil” talk. The people who say this are morons. Money is the #1 necessity of life. Forget about greed, money is need. Make it so you can do as you wish and have the highest amount of freedom possible money is #1 necessity and equals freedom” is down right irresponsible and disrespectful. You are entitled to your opinion but please remember that you are suppose to be a role model and some young people take your opinion very seriously.
Not really. The way our society is set up, money is freedom. It’s what we exchange for everything. Clothes, food, transportation, energy, entertainment, the internet. You wouldn’t have the freedom to make that post without money.
As much as you can trade your time for some of those anemeties, say, by raising your own livestock and produce on a hobby farm, you are not gaining freedom by doing that.
It’s delusional and irresponsible to tell people money is evil and unimportant in a world like ours.
If money is evil, give it to me.
Yeah right - money is evil, don’t tell the kids not to pay attention to the good old “it’s the root of all evil”, make them resent it, make them fear it and associate all kinds of negativity to it. That’s a sure way to make them grow up into weaklings dependable on everything from this shitty society to their mom and dad corporate slaves.
Since my early teen years I was trying to make money online because I understood it gave me freedom. It happened when I was 15 and I asked my parents to give me some money to go on a beach for few days with the girl I liked quite a lot at a time. They said no. I said “fuck you I’m going anyway”, but then I realized I had no means to do what I fucking will. I promised I’ll never depend on anyone again.
And I don’t. I make more money with my online business now than most CEO’s in my country. And I’m 19, and the feeling is so good I can’t even begin to describe it. I EARNED, fucking EARNED, my privilege to express my will, my opinion, my attitude, without the need to worry about anything.
My parents can’t do that - they’re afraid because their boss can fire them. My friends can’t do that - they’re afraid teachers will dislike them, give them worse grades which will ruin their opportunities for “employment” a.k.a. as “slavery. I can do that. I can tell my teacher to go fuck himself, because I KNOW I earn daily more than he does monthly.
I can tell my government to go fuck themselves, because I know I can live anywhere in the world and be well off with the income I currently have. I get to speak my mind, loudly and proudly, to disapprove “authority”, to rock out with my fucking cock out whenever I feel the need to do so. And all I’ll get are astounded glares that scream “I wish I could do the same”.
And no one gave me that but money. My cutest, dearest little friend. They say when it comes down to it, the only thing you can rely on at any given time is yourself. Bullshit. You can rely on your money too.
But I guess that it’s the root of all evil and that I should feel bad about EARNING it with fucking sweat, pain, tears, failures and hard, brutally hard fucking work?
Money is the root of all evil is bullshit, youngsters. Take it from one of your own.
Victor do you do fullbody workouts or splits? Which do you recommend?
Did you read his book “Body of A Spartan”?
Victor i follow your posts its really motivational and im living in spartan life.. Besides, whats your thought on Power of meditation….Out of Context though, but i wanted your thoughts on this bro….
Thanks for the great post….Keep the work going and Good luck!
Hey Victor,
I’m one of those people “almost” lives everything you say on this blog naturally. I had multiple websites making sufficient income all off my own back. Selling e-books and everything…But I didn’t find myself satisfied. Ended up selling all of those endeavors and moved to London. Things went South financially for the most part sites died and I found myself listening to my parents and now I’m in my final year of Uni (in the UK) and I’m turning 25.
All I gotta say is…this blog gave me that kick in the ass..been obsessed and recommending it to everyone. I ain’t gonna write a book but you’ve made me step back - reevaluate myself and those around me - and identify which way I’m gonna take my life.
I’d rather be free than a slave any day. Hard work will make it happen. Thanks.
Vic, your content is solid gold. (That’s why I recommend my readers to your site, although brand new).
Keep ’em coming, chief.
It means to wake up at 5 am or earlier
Thanks. I should have read more before asking the question. One more question though, would it be bad to add 100 pull-ups every day? Would that put too much wear on your body to add that to habit #5?
Listen guy, I don’t have patience for these “Is it bad?” nonsense questions. This is not a 30DOD forum, this is an article called 18 Things Every 18 Year Old Should Do. I’ll add one more as a bonus: Stop asking “Is it bad??”. Go here to the un-official official 30DOD forum to ask questions about the book http://goodlookingloser.com/forums/index.php?topic=7368.0
Please note that a man is known by the way he treats his old-aged parents. You must edit that.
“There are 3+ billion women in the world and they are all basically the same. Your soul-mate Kimberly isn’t one in a million, at best she is about one in a hundred. She can be replaced and it’s not true love that you feel for her it is infatuation.” I’m only 20 but I’m smart enough to see after 15+ relationships that this is the damn truth. Women are not that impressive to begin with. After you factor their lack of reasoning skills, physical weakness and total lack of responsibility or a sense of justice it’s hard enough to deal with them as it is. I have never let my penis do my thinking for me and I am never getting married. It’s a scam! My dad fell for it but I won’t. He talks to me almost every week about how its a good idea only for me to tell him the truth, which leaves him confused. You can’t fix stupid. The overwhelming majority of people are very stupid so that is why I don’t like most people. This post needs to be taught to very senior in high school before he signs up for college and crushing debt, marries an unworthy Ameriskank and then loses his finances and children after she “doesn’t feel loved” anymore. I pity the fool that does that to himself. Keep up the fight Vic I definitely need you with me to keep focus. It’s so easy to get raped by the long dick of the law in a moment’s notice when it comes to marriage. Don’t say no, say HELL NO!!!
I never understood why people fear things such as marriage and college - where there is imagination, there’s a solution.
Eg -1) College debt? Move to asia and don’t pay it. Buy a house cash, run your own business. Bye bye. The system only reaches so far, and last time I checked, there are no bank of america debt collectors in Ko Samui.
2) Wife going to leave you and take the house? A little cyanide in her martini should solve that. What’s mine is mine and I will kill to defend it from anyone who tries to take it, female or male. They get no by-ball in my book. As soon as someone tried to take my property, they are an intruder and will be treated as such.
Personally my wife is awesome. She knows her role, she cooks and cleans, and she is basically my personal assistant. She enjoys having a successful husband sees it as her duty to look after me as it also benefits her. In turn, I look after her. She also knows under no uncertain terms that I will remove her from MY house without hesitation if she doesn’t play ball.
Its all about respect fellas - I kicked several very hot ladies most guys would cream themselves over to the curb before I found my wife, because I didn’t like their stinking attitudes and I wanted them to learn - a vagina is not a hall pass to act like a bitch, and its pretty easy for a guy like me to find another one in 10.2 seconds.
End of rant
You aren’t married to an American woman are you.
No way brother. She’s Filipino!
this comment needs a “like” button.
Why would you date 15 women that you define as idiotic? Surely that would reflect upon your poor choices rather than upon women as a whole? 15 women is not a good representation of the billions of women on this planet, there are plenty of highly intelligent women out there. Perhaps attractive and intelligent women are out of your league and so you’re blaming your inability to get a decent woman on the fact that all women must be like the poor choices you made
number 19 - Learn to fight and or shoot a gun, to defend yourself and others against those kind of pieces of shit

Victor, As a young man I would like to know if a man should act “chivalrous” in public?
Or is this just BS pushed onto society ny feminism?
Thanks
Dave
No. No reason for chivalry unless you want to be celibate.
Victor, you want women to act like traditional women and tend to men’s wants and needs but you advise men not to act like traditional men. It is rather hypocritical, if you want women to tend to your every need then you should foot every bill and take care of the woman
Great artical Vic. Solid advice for even guys like me who don’t remember being 18. As a younger man I always hated being told by older people that I was too young & inexperienced to be successful. Knowing how I was back then, I probably used it as an excuse to be lazy. It’s total bullshit. Just think about Alexander the Great. He crushed ancient empires led by men twice his age, using nothing more than inductive reasoning. His philosophy and mental approach was superior. And he had big brass ones.
Well, some American women are sure not perfect and the same goes for some American men. Life is a two way street. There are lots of men that are lazy, fat wife beaters. Hope you do find your girlfriend / wife in a foreign land. More for normal American guys to pick from.
I think it’s normal for young men to not know what exactly is going on in the world around them. At 18, there really is nothing wrong with being clueless. However at 25 and in the working world, men should see if the employee model is something that they really want. I lucked out by being pwned by the system before turning 30 and it allowed to question whether I really wanted to partake in American society. That is why I left. I wish I started sooner, but there really is no going back.
Sergio Oliva died last year and Nasser Elsonbatty died early this year from steroid use. Something about messing up their kidneys…….
Honorary #20 to the list - Something about not opening your mouth until you are positive of the facts, so don’t come across as incompetent to people who do know the facts.
This is gold. Absolute fucking gold. Victor, you’re filling an important hole left by lazy fathers in this society. I respect my father for providing for my family and I, but he didn’t pass on any valuable knowledge to me. THIS is what I wish I had been taught by my father.
And #6, about building your body, is so spot on. It’s about so much more than just building your body, though. It teaches real discipline (often for the first time in most young men’s life, including mine) that translates into literally ANY and EVERY other aspect of life. I was a lazy, depressed pussy for years, and when I started building physical strength, I started building mental strength as well. It taught me that I can set goals and reach them. I can do whatever the fuck I want. No skill is out of reach. The secret is to not fucking sit around and fantasize about it. Just DO. Simple as that. DO what you want and you’ll get what you want.
Always aim for “non-zero” days. Make sure every day is a non-zero day where you do something towards reaching your goals. Every. Single. Day. Without fail. Zero days are for ZEROS, not HEROES.
And I never would’ve learned this without the harsh, merciless, unforgiving resistance of a cold steel barbell.
Point 17 - Nobody Believes in You.
That’s a great one. Accept that and crave not for external approval, and go out and do my thing.
Thanks!
Cleve
Another fine example of the excellence you provide on a regular basis, Vic. No 18 year-old couldn’t fare worse than not heeding your advice. Especially when it comes to college and feminism. The thought that at one time women didn’t have to fight for a vote or to own property or establish a line of credit are idiot concepts slapped into textbooks to feminize the young bucks of today. I hate how this isn’t clear to most people. If they have any hope of making it in the world, men need to wise up about girly shit like equality and make sure they take no part in it. Great job dispensing the truth, my man!
Why do you see women as sub human? Who was the person who endured you savaging their womb for 9 months?
“Josh”, why do you see babies as savages?
Great stuff, Mr. Pride! You do a great service to men across the world. I dropped out of college last spring because it was a HUGE waste of time getting educated. I have three younger sisters. The oldest just turned 13 and you should see them. They are dumber than shit. What you said about women is hitting the nail on the head. My other sister who is my twin keeps telling them they should stand up for themselves and learn to be independent of anyone else and all that bullshit. I have been trying to tell them they should wait until they are on their own and then make some dude a good wife. My family is up in arms over this but they also hate the truth. Do you have advice for a guy in my position? What are other good ways an older brother can raise his sisters right?
Thanks!
Marcus
Marcus, the unfortunate reality is that you cannot cope with literally the rest of their world. School, tv, internet, their peers, the rest of the family, all will tell them the same nonsense. They are too far gone, past the point of no return.
Good post, but you forgot one important thing Victor. Many young men face the option of joining the military, where do you stand on that?
I’m a woman and many of the points in this post hit home for me. Thanks
Hey man,
These are some amazing tips I wished I knew when I was younger. Rock on my dude!
My mom and dad came from india with no money, no education and had me at 19 with less than 10,000 in there bank account. now my dad is worth 3million , i drive a Mercedes Benz and im going to add another 3million by the time im done college # started
Kick-ass list. There’s a lot of flexibility with each point, but it’s generally all good advice. I’ve wasted a good 8 years of life with no direction cause I wanted the safe/cushy existance only to realize a real man must always be growing and pushing his limits to feel alive. It’s the only thing that lights a fire up under your ass, gives you purpose and lets you truly feel joy and happiness at the end of a hard day.
I’m 24 and I think these things still apply. I love the way you think, especially since you are basically encouraging people to not conform with the usual “American Dream.” I believe the same thing. We all have our own definition of success. Maybe some of us just wanna have a peace of mind. Maybe some of us just want to help others. And the list goes on. The problem with society is that they have this preconceived notion of success that you are only an achiever if you are rich and has a 9-5 job, or you have your own car, a house, a great wife and kids. There’s nothing wrong with those things, they’re amazing actually, but they society should stop shoving it down our throats because it’s not a one size fits all thing.
Just found your site love it man, already one of my favourites.
Arguably one of my favorite posts on the site, and I’ve read them all.
Probably 4 times each.
Re-visited this article while doing work on a site I’ve been working on since reading the “so you want to be a professional blogger” posts, and since I posted extensively about the B.S. that is college in the states, I thought I’d link it up here.
http://mymorningbacon.com/ive-stayed-college/
here it is! visit, enjoy, and check back later for growth!
keep up the good shit, vic!
Michael
This article just got me wet. Even though I already new 90% of these things, its great to see them written down by somebody else.
In all serious I could definitely use a mentor like you in my life.
so i sat here in class and read this article.one question, where are you life right now?
Hi Victor I’m a huge fan of your blog and I just turned 18 Tuesday!!! Problem is that I have no money. I want to become independent via graphic design and WordPress, but my parents totally object to it. My parents consider my mentor who taught me graphic design to be a cult leader which is total BS, since he is a Lone Wolf, just like I am. My parents are total idiots and will do just about anything to bar me from contacting my mentor. Do you have any suggestions?
-Sincerely yours, Max
Why do your parents think your mentor is a cult leader? And have you thought of the possibility that maybe they are right in not wanting you to associate with this person?
Hey Vic,
In relation to point number 3 about moving to Asia, I’ve been seriously considering this. Are there any books you would recommend reading or other resources for moving to Thailaind from a 1st world country?
Cheers
Nah. Book a ticket and check it out for yourself.
Edit: Read stickmanweekly.com
I live in Holland and have Islamic Pakistani parents.
I’m turning 18 years old in about 8 months.
They think I’m going to marry my Pakistani niece in Pakistan as sooon as I turn 18.
They think I’m going to going to an university.
As soon as I’m 18 I’m going to skip college spare some money, go to another city, get a room, live far below my means, get a side job to pay the rent and food, and build an entrepreneurial gig.
Now I love my parents dearly…
But my parents told me that if I move out, don’t go to university and don’t marry my niece in Pakistan.
They’ll never contact me again….
Now as I’ve said I love my parents and I know I”m going to do WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANNA DO!!!!
But Uncle Victor…………………………….Is this wrong?
Is it wrong? Yes, it’s wrong to marry your niece.
It’s your life, Xavi. I’d be surprised if it’s even legal to marry your niece in Holland, but it’s messed up and I’d have no part of it. If your parents love you they’ll understand, if not, screw them. No sense keeping them in your life to hold you back. Besides, you’d be miserable married at 18.
Be a man, control your life. Get out.
@Xavi I don’t believe you.
The Qur’an explicitly forbids marrying your “… brother’s daughters, sister’s daughters…” (i.e. your niece).
If you’re a Muslim, you should be aware of what Islam says about being obedient, dutiful, merciful, etc to your parents.
Unless you’re a dullard, what stops you from studying entrepreneurship, marketing, or something related to what you want to do and work part-time? Else, you could just kindly explain to them that you’re too dumb for school. That way, you please them and achieve your own goals.
Hey, Victor, I would like some advice:
First, some context. I am from Mexico, I’m 22, and I’m studying a Math Degree, with a lot of wasted time determining if I should study that or not.
Two years ago, I believe, I have a broke up with my girlfriend (been dating her since I had 15 years, I believe). Up until that point, I loved Math, and all the logic aspects of it. But with the broke up, it came a lot of unstability in my life, and I stopped caring for my degree.
But with the increased insecurity in my country, I’ve been thinking to live in another country, and been looking at how to accomplish this with the Math degree. I could earn a scolarship if I focus with this, and I really believe I can be successful in this field. If I put a stop to the procastrinating in my part.
What are your thoughts? Should I continue with this or I’m losing my time?
I’m 21 years old… and I doubt it’s too late for me to follow these advices. Is it?
I’d have liked to have found this information earlier than what I am now. I agree, women can be set aside for now. Or at least pick up some game so you’re not spinning your wheels day and night wasting precious hustlin’ time.
Your family is fulla shit rings true, unless your folks are ballin’ with an epic bank roll already. If your folks are average Joe’s then there’s no reason to believe that they’ve got all the answers you need (unless their life is what you truly desire, then go right ahead)
Good stuff Victor.
What an awesome article!
I’m 18 years old, and i finished highschool and chose not to go to college for these reasons. I actually follow all of these tips. My father didn’t even finish 9th grade, started his own company at 16, now he’s a self employed multi-millionaire and he’s only 40. Every single tip you gave (besides for moving out of the country) are the things he tells me every day. I’m working my way up to take over his company now, by the time i’m 23 i should be in charge, but that’s only if i work my ass off, nothing’s handed to you! Just like in #14, sales or manual labor. My fathers company is one of the biggest construction companies in my area, and i’m a salesman currently, making $100,000 a year salary. AT 18! Just this week i got paid $2500 after taxes. My father says the same thing about money. Without money, you’re nothing. Money is power. It’s the truth too. All the people who say “money is evil!” Clearly do not make enough money to realize all the benefits. Only downside, is you have to work your ass off, but that’s only a downside if you’re lazy and don’t want to get off your ass and do something. For me, if i miss a day of work for being sick, or miss going to the gym one day, i feel like a bum and i hate it. Each time you get to cross out one of your goals for that day or moment, you receive a huge rush and just feel amazing! What’s better than that? You don’t need a piece of paper saying you went to college for a few years, congratulations here’s a nickel (this would have been cooler in person ha), i’d take hands on life experience over someone trying to teach you something that’s completely irrelevant every single time. That’s what business owners look for nowadays anyway! I cannot even count the amount of times someone has come in to apply for a job for my dads company, with a great resume and went to a great school, and get’s fired 3-5 days later.
I didn’t mean to sound cocky or anything by this post! I just wanted to share how everything Victor said, is 100 percent accurate, and i had to talk about myself to show some evidence of that. To all us young adults, follow this advice! Because it couldn’t have been said any better.
Victor,
Excellent article, wish I read it when I was 18. Vic, I’m 24 now and about to start my 9-5 office job next week. I’m building a PT business on the side.
I struggle with the trade off between fully committing to building my part time business every weekday (after my 9-5) V.S. out DayGaming after work or Night Gaming on weekends. My testosterone craves for pussy and its hard for me to sacrifice this short term pleasure for the long term reward of building my business in 2-5 years and become financially independent.
The successful entrepreneurs in my industry argue that its worth the sacrifice to build this business in the short term (2-5 year business model), while I’m still young in my mid twenties, to achieve the financial independence to enjoy the long term pleasures of freedom. Its the constant need for fresh poon and building/restocking up my leads thats stopping me from building my part time business with momentum.
For a man who has gone through his twenties, with your experience and wisdom, what is your feedback? Thanks I appreciate it brother.
I have preached this sermon everyday to my now grown sons ! Except #13 and with the exception that maybe college doesn’t hurt.. you may find connections… especially if you have a scholarship :)
I stumbled across this and I am impressed that someone would speak so boldly. As an American woman, I never understood the stance for Feminism. I truly do not believe in it. I would be more than happy to cook, clean and take care of my husband, as I do. I still work outside the home. I never had children. I wanted the adventure but never truly fulfilled it. I slave away at work and I’m sick of it. While, not everything you wrote I can use, buy most of it I can, even as a woman. I plan on passing this around to everyone I know. Not everyone fits the “mold” of college, marriage, kids.
A fine article, action is vital and what’s best is often the simplest choice. All to often we victimize ourselves with laziness. This 18 year old is glad to have read your article, its almost reassuring. It has confirmed many suspicions I have had about the world.
My only slight issue, the fools that wrote, “money is the root of all evil,” also wrote the rest of the Bible, which also states that money is a security, and is necessary. Just for clarification, its okay to use quotes, however in this case, the context drives a better point. Money is a necessity, but responsibility is also necessary.
Look, its LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Not just money, LOVE of money. It means that youd do absolutly anything to get money, you would hurt other people as well as yourself, make a slave out of you, in order to have money. You understand? The importance about money is security and liberty. But if you live your life as a slave to money its leads you to evil deeds. Thats why LOVE of money is evil NOT money itself. Money is wonderful, it gives you liberty, women and a bunch of nice shit.
Someone who works so much, spend so much time at a meaningless job, trading is life away for more money, mever seeing his kids, never taking time to raise them properly, never take time to take care of his own health and never have the time and liberty to enjoy and build his life for the better just to make more bucks, thats someone who in my own opinion has money as his master. The love of money leads him to have a shitty lifestyle.
That doesnt mean that its wrong to want shitloads of money. Its a good thing. Its better to be rich than poor and you can live a better life this way, and ease other people’s’life around yoy too (whitout spoon feeding them).
Ah yes, I spoke of context in my comment, yet neglected to paraphrase correctly.
My meaning was “love of money”, my issue was actually it being seemingly used out of context in the article. It is a security, and a necessity, and the same “fools” that the article suggests the Bible writers are, also wrote that.
Basically you need money, certain wants can be needs as well. I fully agree with you as that is exactly what I meant.
Does anyone here work in the oil fields?
I do I work on the north slope,Alaska oilfield.
any advice on how a 20 yo guy can get in an oilfield? Much appreciated
This post really fires me up. I’m not 18 but just knowing these things helps to clarify and solidify my own outlook on life. Great post Vic
This guy’s post make me realise how fucked up the world has become, its sad that some people are made to feel guilty due to their skin color and dont me started of feminism, complete horse crap.
I just turned 18 today, though I still look very boy-ish and a little short (but handsome! I have a lot of girls that like me). I read and re-read your blog very frequently and it has made me set out on path to real manhood. I have been lifting that iron 3 time a week and eating more fats to build testosterone and done 99% of the things on 30 Days of Discipline, which I will complete in it’s full form when school’s over.
There’s still a lot of work to be done, but I just wanted to thank you for writing these things. If I hadn’t found your website I would probably be developing into a real mangina that can’t achieve his own goals. When I have built that body of a Spartan and gotten that first check from my internet business I will make sure to tell you in another comment.
Dear Victor, I love your site and I find it truly inspiring BUT I’m a GIRL and I find it sometimes rather discriminatory and sexist; women should get rich too , right ? and not just spend their life giving birth to children and wasting men’s money so try to adress your blog to both sexes. Would be awesome
I only approved your comment due to the timing of the newest post. Do 2 things for me 1) read the new post entitled “So You Want to Be a Professional Badass” and 2) shut the fuck up.
lmfao!!!!
Great article! I also believe that focusing on money and building a life for yourself is definitely more important than woman, at least, at the age! But then again, who in the right mind would wanna get married at 18?
Hey I’m 17 years old an i start college in the fall, I am a female and i wont turn 18 till march or 2015. I currently own my own business and i do a lot of things. but my question for you is what should i be focusing on or doing in life because i feel like everyone else is pushing me to do what they want and what they believe is the best for me. but really i’m not sure what I should be doing right now in my life
Do what the fuck you want no ones pushing you for shit
So should I keep my money and save it or spend it on travel?
“. White people are the least racist, least sexist people on the face of the earth and I can assure you that is a fact.”
Come on now we all know that’s bullshit.
Wow, this literally changed my life. I found this by complete mistake, when miraculously I turn 18 in 3 days. I got charged with a DUI last month and some other serious charges and lost my girlfriend of 3 years and it put me in a horrible depression and I started to lose sight of who i am and really think my life was over. But man, this pulled me out of that shit the second. All this pressure of majoring in some big time field, Your right, fuck that shit thats not even what I want. That’s me being a slave to society. I’m going to do what I enjoy and switch it up, maybe even learn some trades and possibly go into business. I could never repay you for the knowlage I just obtained. I’m no longer fearful of the future, in fact I’m excited. Your a life saver man, seriously.
Victor,
All I can say is, we need more Men like you in this world man. This article should receive an award.
Dude, Victor
This stuff is gold man! I’m glad I found out about your website at a young age. Stuff like this helps me out a lot man. Thanks for writing these posts!
Will be stopping by more in the future.
Take care,

Thanks a lot Vic,
I’ve decided to move on from college. Full disapproval from friends and family, means I’m doing something right. I definitely feel its not for me. My dream of running a successful website is fully in the works! New journey.. new excitement.
Check out my website, new post on change and dropping out.

I wish I knew this, when I was 18
Vic, how would you suggest a young man meets up with women/enjoys himself if he doesn’t go to college or make women his number one priority?
I’m graduating this year and I’m traveling to Eastern Europe for a few months with some money I’ve saved and I was curious as to how a young guy (who knows no one in the area) can meet up with women and have a good time.
By the way, I listened to a D&P podcast with Chris from GLL and both said that college is great for women/partying.
You always tell young men not to go to college.
Where did you go for fun during college, and how did you meet up with people when you went to new areas?
Your question is “How do I meet people?”. The answer is say hello when you see a girl you like. Also get online to meet girls in country xyz.
Great, thanks for the answer.
Also, like I had said, where are good places to have fun/party outside of college?
Just foreign clubs? It seems like you’d have to know locals because I can’t see me going by myself.
Did you get involved in a lot of University activities/frats/clubs to meet people or what did you do?
Eastern Europe, you will find things to do. You can also go to college parties, they don’t ask for a student ID to get in.
Dear Uncle Vic,
I am a 20 yr old junior in college getting cut off by my parents. Idk what to do regarding buying a car, place to live, etc… I don’t own a car either since it’s my parents, so im doubly screwed and don’t know what to do. I understand you are an important and busy man, but I would really appreciate if you can guide me in the right direction.
Thank You.
Hey Victor I’ve been reading your site for almost a year now. I’m 18 years old and I was in university first semester for nursing. I have made the decision to drop out because I wasn’t willing do something I don’t like such wiping shit and also I didn’t want to get into 40k debt for a stupid career. I have been trying to make a website and I have gotten my domain name. What other advice could you give to me? I’ve been feeling kind of low because of how disappointed my friends and family are
VIc, you should consider making a post about how to thrive in your 20’s. A lot of young guys like me (19) would greatly appreciate a post like that.
Can’t wait to see your future posts!
It is late for me to see this now, as I am 19 right. I pretty much wasted my 18 age basically doing nothing at all. This article answered all the confusion, problems, questions and deep feelings of regret. Thank you so much, I am seeing life in a different few point now. Thank you.
I’ve been looking for the right inspiration online to get off my ass and travel. I’m 18 years old and and I’m stuck in a village full of morons. I know I have a bright future ahead of me running my dads business. However i don’t think its what i want, (maybe not as yet). I feel trapped here and if I decide to run this business I’ll be stuck doing a boring job, seeing nothing, meeting no one, and learning f*ck all. Simple posts like this have given me the advice and that motivation to get up and do it, be someone, be wise, open and free! I think this journey I’ve been so afraid of is here, and I’m going to do it.
Many thanks to people like you who help out people like me! :D
I agree for #1 not getting married too soon…but do also believe that having a long term relationship from 18 or 19 and being with that woman for a lot of years or even get married after is it also bad?
Aw, this was an incredibly good post. Spending some time and actual effort to produce a top notch article…
but what can I say… I put things off a lot and never manage to get nearly anything done.
Lol. But you didn’t learn anything from your college teacher.
I have not found a single thing that I wanted to do all my life because there are so many things to do and I am interested in at least more than 2 things. I love hustling and trying things on my own rather than quitting because someone told that it will not work. Found a great quote in your article by Vincent Galo.
One thing I wish I were told when I was 18, “invest in broadly diversified index funds”.
Most mutual funds are for chumps
This post is honestly disgusting. This is so rude to women, and you should not be encouraging men to feel so negatively about OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. Love might be real at 18 for someone- just because it didn’t work for some doesn’t mean it couldn’t work for others. This article diminishes love for others just because it’s ” not cool, bro”. Also, what is this supposed to mean: “Western women were never discriminated against, there is no such thing as ‘rape culture’, women aren’t paid less for the same work, feminism is not about equality”? Women in western cultures are paid 76.5% that of what men are paid for the same work- so I’m pretty sure there is some discrimination there. And “rape culture doesn’t exist”- then how do you explain that after a 14 year old girl was raped by a 50 year old, she killed herself, and then her rapist only spent 30 days in jail? And, lastly, feminism is literally about equality. If you look up “feminist” in the dictionary it says “[someone] advocating social, political, legal, and economic rights for women EQUAL to those of men”. Feminists are just fighting for equality, all that’s wanted is to be treated equal. Victor, you have a young impressionable audience for this article, and you are setting your readers up to be bigoted assholes if they follow your guidelines. Please think twice before you say such rude, uneducated things, and please consider my argument. Thanks.
Retard.
Hi anonymous,
You are missing the big picture. Victor is not setting up guys to be “bigoted assholes” (trust me, people like that don’t need help in that department). Instead, Victor is trying to spread the message that it’s ok to be the best version of you, but in order to achieve that one must ignore the stupidities and nonsense that surrounds the average person’s life. Above all, one needs to maintain appropriate FOCUS.
You focus on the wrong things. Equality? Fairness?
WHO gets to decide what this means exactly?
I get it! Let’s make everybody a winner and they will get a platinum trophy just for existing! Let them feel special…for doing nothing…for losing…yeah that might work short term to spare another’s feelings, but over time…hmm…yeah, it kind of wouldn’t work.
I will make an assumption. You are comfortable living in a fantasy land specifically calibrated and tuned for the delusional. And this is fine if you want to sleep forever. But keep in mind that, in essence, you are either going to live someone else’s dream or your own. You actually do have a choice in this extremely important decision.
Focus on challenging yourself every single day and, believe me, you won’t have time to sit around and cry about how unfair the world is because you will be focused on your OWN problems and not complaining and worrying about things beyond your control.
Sorry about the vibe of my message, and I don’t mean to come across as berating, but I’m just telling it like it is from my perspective (and what a great one it is!).
Sincerely,
Little Boy Blue
I just had my first white hate experience in class last Thursday, in Texas. That’s a testament to how far this horrible corruption has spread within the US.
After class had already ended, my English teacher held us back to explain to us the horrible oppression the white man has imposed upon blacks and women, and that even though slavery ended 150 years ago, we should not forget what we’ve done.
When schools teach white people to hate who they are, what is truly left for what was once (arguably) the most ingenuitive and advanced race?
Studies claim that within the next 30-40 years, whites will be a minority in the US and eventually the world.
If you’re white, and especially a white male, be proud.
Thanks for being a man, Vic. A real man, in a society where strong white men are slowly becoming the enemy.
I happened upon this blog randomly one night, and I felt like I needed to respond despite the fact that the article is directed towards men. Being a woman, and also 18, I find this article insightful in a variety of ways. The question of college and it’s necessity has been profound on my mind for some time now, and this has supplied me with some things to consider as I make my future choices. However, I feel like I need to mention the comment regarding women’s wages and rape culture. I don’t necessarily disagree, because -as was stated earlier- women’s rapes occur everywhere and does not seem to stem directly from our culture. Regarding wages, it seems that in some fields women are paid less because they physically cannot perform the same work as a man due to lack of strength or willingness. That being said, I feel that women being paid less can sometimes stem from their own choices, rather than the boss/job. That doesn’t mean that instances in which the opposite occurs, but unfairness occurs often to many different kinds of people. I think feminism focuses on those instances in which unfairness occurred and blows them out of proportion. With this being said, I wanted to mention that this article is slightly demeaning to women. Why would you choose to only write this to a male audience? Young girls need to be guided too, and there aren’t many sources out there for us that don’t try to fill our heads with propaganda or other forms of persuasion. Perhaps, though, you took this form more as a focus to men because you are yourself a man. In that sense, I understand. I did sense some hostility towards women, especially in regards to the sweeping statement of, ” Tying yourself to one woman with a Government enforced noose will do two things: turn you into a shell of a man and significantly reduce your income after she gets bored, divorces you so she can find herself, and papa Government helps her finance it with your money.” Ouch. In your next statement you described finding the right woman later, so I suppose the statement is only direct at young women like myself. But then again, I probably shouldn’t say much because I’ve been taught the same about boys and instructed to wait until much later in life to pursue a man. In my mother’s words, “Boys are a dime a dozen.” But I say that with endearment. Anyhoo, I really enjoyed this article, I just wish that it had been broadened to both sexes instead of just one. But that may be the feminist side of me coming out, huh?
Hi Victor,
My name is Matthew. I’m 18 years old, and in my second semester of college. It’s 2 a.m. and I have to be at work in 7 hours (a cook at Chili’s) , where I will work a 8-9 hour shift, outwork my other cooks, and get paid less than a server there who will probably cash out with $100 in 4 hours. But boy am I glad I found this.
When I was in high school I was a wrestler, and it taught me a tremendous amount about disipline and work ethic. I have drive and motivation, I want to do something with my life other than “go to college, get a job”. I am going to college for Psychology because I do want to help people, but I realize I can do this without living this false “American dream”. I am working full time and going to school full time. I have my fun but I have lost a sense of excitement in life. I don’t want this to be the “best years of my life”. I am very interested in traveling and working in other countries (I liked what I saw when I looked up info on Google about Thailand and Vietnam). I feel like all I need is to know where I really start. I have some money saved up and I’m smart with it. I think I am going to order the book you recommended, The 4-Hour Workweek, and read up on it. You are very inspirational and this has really opened my eyes to the amount of possibilities there are out there, and how easy they are if you just go do it.
Sincerely, Matthew A
This is a site for men, he does not seek to help women, if you want help from women consult ladies of Eastern Europe on how to be lady-like.
this article is not demeaning, it is truth..truth for men to wake up…simple as that. go overseas and meet Russian or East-Asian women…these women are far more feminine, strong willed and healthy. They do not prioritize education and take up a trade since they know career can come later in life.
They know that using their younger years(when they are most attractive) to lock down a good man and have a family with him. Kids are easier to raise when you are younger with lots of energy to.
Don’t get me wrong, there is way more than just that…but most western women scoff at even small piece of good advise.
Probably my favorite article on Bold And Determined about young men. This article changed my perspective forever. Thanks Vic!
Best Regards
Thank you very much Victor for the incredible insight. What my generation has is the lack of understanding is that the college road isnt a one way road to success. I having the dream of owning my customs agency has caused several of my friends to ask where I will be going to college; and in all pride I tell them that only the working field can teach. What you’ve said here could inspire even the ignorant of this generation.
Hi, I’m an eighteen year old and I wanted to say a few things that I agree and disagree with. Firstly, thank you for encouraging young people like myself to have strong work ethic and values. Thank you for encouraging young (white) men to be proud of who they are regardless of our feminist society. That is incredibly refreshing. I would ask you respectfully and politely to please not lump all women together as if they are all “basically the same”. I have a strong work ethic and have been working since I was fifteen. I save every available penny and don’t spend money on frivolous shopping. I’m not a feminist and very ladylike without being stuffy or self righteous. I appreciate men who haven’t listened to the feminists demoralization of manly/gentlemanly men. My question is this….where are all the gentleman? Please show yourselves because some women loved you and had no problem with showing men a little respect.
I don’t know where to start. This blog has changed everything. It feels like a godsend that I ever even stumbled upon this website… But thank god I did. Life is too complicated these days… Cut all the distracting shit out and get to work. You don’t need 500 TV channels to achieve happiness. Just do some fulfilling work and be a man. Thanks a lot Victor. You changed my outlook on life
Vic,
This is a good article and wise advice. I’m in my 40s and after having been around for some time, I agree with your advice.
i wonder what your mom would say if she read this, or any woman in that matter! Who do you think you are? Feminism is not a useless, and rape culture is NOT a myth. There are women all over the world who are being forced into marriages, treated like property, beaten, assulted, and killed. In many countries men are the “superior” gender. how can you be so naive? women get 18% less pay than men in the USA, and many girls dont get to go to school because they are female, and if they have a voice, or an opinion, they can get killed in some places. 1 in 2 girls get assulted in their life, and 93% of women feel uncomfortable and unsafe walking alone at night. Do YOU know what it’s like to get cat called by a 60 year old perv? Just because you have not experienced these things, doesnt mean that it doesnt exist. Also, feminism IS in fact about equality, and women can do just as well as men, they arent “trying to be men without responsibility” women are responsible and can do as well or better than men, its not about the gender, its about how ard yo work, but in a lot of cases, women dont even get to show what they can do. that is just a HORRIBLE THING TO SAY, you should be ashamed. it is extremely disrespectful for you to say that these things dont exist, and you should know better. im 15 and i know better, seriously, get an education dude.
You make a good argument about the horrors of the human sex trafficking industry that pervades our culture/country and other countries. As a straight mid-20s male, I can still acknowledge that rape culture still exists in America, whether it be sex trafficking or the crazy amount of sexual assault cases that go on in various University campuses. On anther token, I do not really know how I feel about feminism for certain, but I can say that it is creating a divide in our country of the sexes and it doesn’t look pretty for future generations. It may be subtle, but in America there is a lot of tension due to too much damn political correctness and most logical non-liberals like myself are kind of sick of it.
ok, seriously “white people are the least sexist, least racesst peple on the planet”
you seriously, bashed women and feminism by saying it is a “sick joke” you, seriously need to get a life, and a brain.
Why are you so against women? Women DO get paid less than men, and that’s why you’re being lectured about it
How come women are paid less for the same job within most organizations? Do they really make the same salary?
My dear brother. You just gave me a shit load of inspiration.I owe you the whole world for that.I’m now determined.
Victor, you’re the man.
You’re so closed minded as well hun. Open up your mind as you have opened up your legs for others.
I love your article until you said feminism is women trying to be like men. Oh please. Women and men were created alike so you can shut on that. I understand the article was written years ago or whatever, but please grow the fuck up. I agreed with parts of your article until you became so closed minded. As a minority and a women, I work twice as hard to be in so many men position.
As for your website overall, clean it up. I could barely read anything. I had to highlight the words in order to read what you even said half of the time.
Next time, have an open mind about these things. These kids are thrown into adulthood and don’t need total bs from someone so ignorant and closed minded.
Best wishes.
“Women and men were created alike ”
“As a minority and a women, I work twice as hard to be in so many men position.”
Well. Haha and that’s suppose to mean? They were created to be alike. But obviously it shows that we are definitely not alike and there will always be this borderline between the two. So please. Go be your own fool.
Such an Amazing Post…..truely Inspiring!!!!
True true true I’m young but not dum respects victor
What if I am an asian male and not a white male? Is this also for me?
I’m 49, female and my youngest lad just turned 19. I stumbled on yr article and had to pass it on to my son. Great read, I agree with most all of it. Coudos on the Feminism section, I’m personally ready to start a blog campaign to direct feminists to their local sex trAnsplant doctors. :)
Victor,
I would like to ask you for your opinion regarding no.3.
Basically,as of September this year,I’ll be attending a healthcare college in my home country and I’m majoring in nursing( so I’ll become a male registered nurse and I’m due to graduate in 2019).What do you think of my choice? Do you think this is a waste of time?
The reason behind my decision was that there aren’t many men in nursing and I thought that I could leverage this situation. Moreover,my plan is to move to the US or Australia or Canada because of the increasing demand for nurses.Their work schedule is not bad because they usually work 3 days on 4 days off with 12 hour shifts,so ideally,I could set up some side gig in my free time.
What I thought of was this: I could market my services on the internet as a male RN who would take care of elderly people,so I could basically go door-to-door and thus, decide on a fee that my private patients would have to pay.Do you think this is a decent business/career idea?
I wish this could be applied to both sex. I’m a female turning 18 this month. I’m unsure of where I’m heading. Yes I am in college unsure of what career to choose. If anyone knows the female version of this help me.
I stumbled here by googling things to do at 18 only to be disappointed this is for male but I had a good laugh reading this.
Haha I just turned 18 today and I found myself reading this. I graduated from highschool last year December and I’m starting college in November. I live in Australia and you kind of HAVE to get a degree or nobody wil hire you, they also hire people based on what uni they went to.
I really need your advice.
I’m 20 and my adult life hasn’t even started yet. I’m still here like I was when I was a kid living with my parents, unemployed, no friends, no prospects, doing nothing all day every day. How I let myself get into this situation was a combination of laziness, fear, anxiety, and preconceived dependence on my parents.
I want to travel the world like you but I always feel like my parents are holding me back. They’ve always been controlling in my life and never treated me like I was capable of doing things on my own. Now I always hesitate when making adult decisions. I always look to my parents to tell me what to do or to do it for me.
It sounds as easy as you put it to just pack up your bags and go, but I feel my parents’ scrutiny in all my decisions and I just assume that they’ll disapprove of whatever I try to do as an adult. So I don’t do it. I feel that I MUST be dependent on them. I know that’s unhealthy.
Whenever I hear of people my age or younger doing things like travel, driving, doing different kinds of jobs, moving out of their parents house, I just feel more disdain for my situation. I’m stuck in my parents house because I’m afraid to leave. Because I don’t feel I can do it. Because of my parents’ judgement.
If you couldn’t tell, me and my parents don’t talk. I have a pretty dysfunction family. I spend my days in my room with my two siblings with the T.V on loud and our faces buried in our tablets and laptops, trying to distract ourselves from our obvious problems.
I have $4000 in my bank account. Every day I feel like booking a flight, sneaking out of the apartment, and going wherever. And not looking back! But I seriously don’t know how other people do it. They make it sound so simple: “So right when I turned 18 I moved across the country and got a job…”. I wish I could say something like that, but I can’t. I don’t even have the confidence to do something like that.
What would be your advice for a person like me? Every day is literally the same because I have no life, but I’m itching to get out there and live my life but I don’t have the confidence to be on my own.
I turned 18 a month ago, and I have no idea what to do. I spend many nights telling myself “Noah, you have to get a job, go to college, something!” I still live with my parents, and often find myself regretting the things I didn’t do right years ago. Thanks for this article, it has given me some hope that I still have some time to do something with my life that feels absolutely lost at this point. Growing up, I was constantly told that feminism was right, and my way of thinking was 100% wrong. I have never believed in feminism, and I never will.
Everyone is lost at 18, don’t worry about whatever you didn’t do years ago. It’s meaningless.
Feminism isn’t a joke. I hate to be this way but im offended you said that. You think I’ve never been discriminated aganist for being a girl?
I agree with a lot of what you said in this article, and aim to do most of these things, the only part where i disagree is going to college, but that is because I am going into bio-medical or bio-chemical engineering, and need college to learn what i would need to be succesful in the field.
Yes, there are fields that require university. Don’t forget to take your English class because it’s I, not i.
That’s right .believe in old and experienced.then why the fuvk not go to colleges,it is an age old way to excellence.if not, colleges would no longer exist
Dude you have similar thoughts like me…………….
excuse me but i think what you said about feminism was way to much. We just want to be treated fairly and because your a man you’ll never know so please just stop acting like you know.
“because your a man you’ll never know”
Don’t stereotype me because I’m a man. That’s sexist.
I found this very sexist and degrading. What an awful guide, I hope this is a joke and no guy actually listens to these.
#13 is a bit far.
Sure there are sects of feminism that are excessive and some women have crazy ideas about how they are being “oppressed” and over-exaggerate the rape culture in western society.
However, you would be an idiot to deny that society is largely male-driven and statistics indicate that men are generally better paid than women. Women, only in the last century, have been allowed to vote and patriarchal views of “men go to work and women stay at home” has only recently died out. Of course it is a lot (a lot) better than 40 years ago but because these changes are so recent some of the ancient values still exist although as subtle as they are pernicious.
As men we have our biases and can’t view how the world is how men view it and, vice versa; there are aspects of society that are detrimental to males that women will find hard to appreciate.
Sure, to “kick dirt” into face of irrational, cherry picking feminists seems okay but to denounce and discriminate all “Feminists” especially the rational majority is wrong.
Here’s another note to those becoming 18: don’t believe everything you read (or indeed ANYTHING) unless you have looked into what it means and how it is backed up. Life (and especially mass media) is full of deceptions created by people to influence you to think a certain way.
You are what you consume.
“However, you would be an idiot to deny that society is largely male-driven and statistics indicate that men are generally better paid than women.”
Listen kiddo, the statistics actually say the exact opposite. If you want to run your mouth about the statistics, you should know what they actually say first.
Fair point; some statistics do actually indicate that women have more jobs than men in certain areas (although this depends on who/where you get the information from). I suppose what I was trying to say is that the more dominant or power-related jobs (such as politics) are dominated by humans with XY chromosomes.
This just furthers my point that the internet is full of misinformation and confusion (the irony is that I even made an error there as pointed out by Victor) and that caution should be approached to every situation we read on the internet.
“This just furthers my point that the internet is full of misinformation and confusion”
Yes, starting with you.
“the irony is that I even made an error there as pointed out by Victor”
It isn’t ironic, people who say the silliness that you say are always wrong.
“I suppose what I was trying to say is that the more dominant or power-related jobs (such as politics) are dominated by humans with XY chromosomes.”
And? Nursing and school-teaching is dominated by women. So what is your point? Females shouldn’t have a choice in their career, they should pursue power jobs because a kiddo on the internet said so?
I agreed with you that I was possibly wrong about the statistics thing. How is it not irony that in trying to show that people can be incorrect on the internet, I made a mistake myself?
I never implied that women should alter their career choices because of what “a kiddo on the internet said”. I was trying to point out that a level of feminism is warranted in our world and that the author of this page should not encourage antipathy to all members of the rational feminist field - although some extremists do exist.
You seem like a nice kid so I’m not going to get into it with you, except to say feminism isn’t what you think it is. You’ll figure it out in time.
#5 – Hell ya! I lived and worked on that island for 9 months last year.
I feel like your advice is geared towards westerners. Remember that internet blogs are accessible to every one in the world. Would you give an 18yr old South African boy that advice?
-PS: South africa is a developed nation and not hungry Africa where animals run around
Great article. About feminism, there’s an very interesting article I’ve found that says this:
“Men cannot fight back against women. They are programmed to turn away from aggressive women, giving the cold shoulder, giving ground, and refusing to fight. If men fought back, there would be blood on the ground, and it wouldn’t be theirs.”
See the full article here, http://herbertpurdy.com/?p=1878
Society is really going backwards thanks to feminism, I’m glad there are still good traditions in my country (Paraguay), although, the new generation is being infected already by wrong ideologies that I can only hope, doesn’t stick much.
Great blog, Victor, I’m reading your articles almost every day, they’re highly motivational and definitely it is a BOLD AND DETERMINED blog.
“Western women were never discriminated against.”
Are you a actually retarded? Or were you trying to make some dumb joke? Women could even vote until the 1920s and weren’t even really allowed to work until like the 60s. Women were treated like total dirt until probably like 20-30 years ago. And still sometimes are treated like dirt. Feminism may be bullshit but you’re a fucking idiot.
ya know I thought this was a good article and all until I read the bullshit about feminism. Makes you sound uneducated and makes you completely uncredible in my eyes. I didn’t even read the rest of the article, think before you write something so close minded and sexist.
LOL Rylee, u dumb
I would have read the whole of this article but discrimination makes me sick (how could you do this to me???)
You should probably change the title of the article so that people like me who believe ALL eighteen year olds deserve RESPECT won’t be TRICKED into reading it.
Or: treat everyone with basic respect and maybe we all can get the full value from your article.
“Jack” I can see from your email you are clearly a female. Why you gotta lie bro?
Money is not the root of all evil. Misquote. The love of money is the root of all evil.
this is so redpill
this is actually a true basic list form number 7 is one and number 10 and number 17 and 18 are true in me love this list
Great article Victor Pride, I’m turning 19 this may and “wow” am I glad that I found this blog… I perform poorly in high school, made many mistake during that time. I’m taking a gap year right now and it’s about 6 months in, I spend the time doing nothing but study and tired to get into a university. I now realize that I’ve been wasting too much time doing nothing, so, I decided to look for a job, I got 5 phone call today for an interview, and by the way I live in Thailand too. #2 was one of the biggest things on my mind in the past year and I hope I can over come that. #12 is something I wish I had growing up, but i don’t… I just want to say that I want to prove to everyone from my past that I can become something, someone, and someone great. Thanks for this awesome article.
Thank you so much for these words, i really needed to hear them
THE ONLY 1 THING U WANNA KNOW WEN UR 18,IS STOP WATCHING THESE 18 THINGS! LOOK TO YOUR OWN MUTHAFUCKAS
how can i believe you..?? ..plz have a reply
HI…
That’s a really good post Victor…. congratulations! (although i don’t agree with u everywhere…)
But, i do not intend to write about the post… i read the India debate and would like to contribute…
(i’m an 18 years old GIRL from India…)
To Santo who calls the education system in India fucked up..
Buddy, no one asked u or forced u to opt for engineering if u don’t have the balls to work hard. In India, the competition is cutthroat but at the same time nobody’s stopping u from getting into colleges like IITs, NITs, BITS, VIT , IIIT, etc. people earn less than 180USD a month when they are from a third tier college or are stupid enough to not pursue postgraduation. what u need to understand is that everyone is not cut out for everything. there are sufficient number of decent engineering colleges in the country. its not the responsibility of the education system to make an engineer out of every Tom, Dick and Harry. people have made a joke out of engineering in India. getting into a college is hyped about but once we are in it, only a negligible no. bother to study and work hard to get through. Even an IITian can go jobless without a decent CGPA. which godforsaken company do u think is going to hire you if u don’t know ur subject?… and about the “NERDS” of our country,… Being a nerd is not disrespectful. you should not be worried about nerds getting the coveted jobs, u should be worried about not being good enough for those jobs. and for god’s sake stop defaming your country like this on the internet. Go get a job.
i m not saying that the system does not need improvement but it sure as hell is not “fucked up”.
not white but loved the post . this is true for all guys in general keep writing such stuff :).
Did you have like a bad experience with a Kimberly or something? It’s not that common of a name…
Hey uncle Victor Wassup?
This article is really a mind opening one for me as I am a 19 year old bloke.Do you know what? One of the best thing ever happened in my life is having advice from one of men who have killer, go getter which are common attiudes for winners and the owner of this killer,to the point blog , uncle Victor.
Thanks to the internet I can have the access to your killer posts that will truly help to become the type of man who embrace the masculinity. And I can say one thing, I will never ever able to have this type of valuable advice from anyone in my country which is Sri Lanka but internet throw off that limit.
So uncle victor, now I have embarked the journey of becoming a man who embrace the power of masculinity.
Hi! I am 16 years and 8 months old and I am turning 17 on 6th September, this year. I would like to know what differences are going to be shown on a 18 year old guy, because there is only 1 year and just 4 months until I’ll be 18. Thank you! :)
it’s sad that people still think this way about feminism, actually it’s rather scary, and the way you segregate women from this post is equally disgusting, this will hopefully illuminate you to your ignorance… [removed]
“George” I can see your email address. Your name is Daisy.
What about the military?
Communications major college graduate making money. Thanks for the wishful thinking though!
Hey Jarrod, I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say. YOU’RE a comm major? Is that what you’re trying to say? You should communicate much better than this.
Thanks for what wishful thinking? Who are you talking to and what are you talking about? Did they forget to teach you how to communicate as a communications major graduate making money?
When you build a business, whether it’s in a warehouse and you’ve managed to build it from the ground up. Or simply on the internet, as Victor said; What are the few things to be prepared for, and what it something to be careful with? Tip’s and Trick’s of running your own ideas into a reality. What advice would you give to this person?
Those are 2 totally different businesses and would require different advice. Internet? Start right away because cost is nothing. You can lose millions on a warehouse, do your due diligence and have patience but don’t become paralyzed by prudence.
Very nice post. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I went to trade school after realizing college means absolutely nothing. I have a stable job. I work hard and earn everything I have. Raised by two loving parents and a father who wasn’t my friend but my parent. He knew what life wants out of you as a person. I agree wholeheartedly with this post.
Ohmyg. I love all those of your words. Im here, livin’ in a county called Malaysia. Im 18, yet still my life sucks. I do nothing. At all. I feel useless at the same time. Thank god i found your blog, after reading it. I feel so much way better: God bless you whenever you are ❤️
“Don’t seek approval. Approval is for dogs.”
Haha… I love that!
You are completely right about the whole college thing too. I went to an extremely competitive school and double majored in two advanced subjects and currently don’t use my degrees.
Keep em coming Vic.
Best wishes,
D
Men are exactly the kind to write such a brute and illegitimate advice column. Arrogant.
I wanna be rich .
This is beautiful, and I’m not even a guy. :”)
i like your peace of mind
I have felt the exact way about college and degrees, I see people trying to lead a different life than their parent’s, but yet the college system puts them right on to the same path their parents are on. I am super inspired by this article, I am taking hold of my future from now on forward, being as I just turned 18 on Saturday I wanna make something of myself.
This is the best thing I have read on the Internet! I love it.. Thank you for spilling the truth!!!
So, this article only applies to men?
Loved this writing, thank you very much my man. I just turned 18 today, I’m just waiting to get that high school diploma then be off into the world. I agree with many points in this writing, espicially the last one about being proud of who you are, I was surprised to see that considering I’ve been witnessing a lot of shit about colors lately, just a lot of hate and racism from people who are blinded looking at things wrongly. Its just annoying. Anyway, I loved many other points for I have been a beholder upon them. Thank you very much for the advice.
Oh my God… This is such a beautiful mix of fedora and bro article. It’s making me tear up a little it’s masculinity is so fragile. Also, I think you meant “18 things every 18 year old heterosexual white boy should know”, because my sisters not going to get anything from some computer troll telling her men and women are 100% equal, and I’m not really benefiting from being told “she isn’t the one”, of course she wouldn’t be, I’m gay.
White people, men, and heterosexuals have no reason to feel bad about themselves. Only dicks like you who can’t admit that these groups have more advantages in society, and instead fight to make themselves the victims. You are not your ancestors who had slaves or killed native Americans. You shouldn’t be blamed for that. But you are the white guy who gets a better chance at a better life in our society. That’s what “privilege” is. There are some girl, POC, and LGBT privileges I guess too, but not nearly as many as your standard white heterosexual guy.
But yeah, keep bein bitter, my dude.
Cry more.
Uhhhh… Can’t agree on the way you put some things. But I do see where you are coming from. What you need to apply in your writing though is not every family is part of this idiotic world we live in today. For example, I live with my father and he has told me many times that I should only go to college if I want to, even then he offers to self-teach me in coding, which is one of the best jobs here in Seattle, and he has told me that if I do go that route that college shouldn’t be a priority due to the cost. If colleges weren’t so greedy like they are currently I could see why most parents say college is the only way to go. But my father is actually a millionaire and he never went to college. the one bullet I don’t agree with however is that no one believes in you. I see where this would come from if the kid is fucked up in school and on drugs but I do know that there is always someone that believes in you whether it be friends or family.
Thnx for this
Preaachhhhh x10000 !!! Im about to turn 18 and applying for college and all I’m telling myself is why am i doing this! The #1 question I’m asked is what i’m majoring in and idk!! there’s thousands of careers to choose from and I’m supposed to have my mind made up.
man i cannot believe that i found such blog. seriously, i love reading your articles they inspire me a lot and it’s always a pleasure to come back here, bookmarked! cheers
This is the most bullshit I have ever read. “Rape culure dorsnt exist?” I personally know a few women who have been raped and nothing done about it. Feminism is about equality and women are willing to accept “responsibilities” that comes with being equal to men
Victor some of the things you said makes sense. But it sounds like you are forcing your views and opinions on people particularly men. Yes you don’t have to go to college but it depends on what anyone wants to do. There is nothing wrong with choosing a career. Anyone can always branch out off it and move on to a next one which in fact calls a future path, relating back to doing anything you want as long as you set you mind and heart into it. I am not a feminist in fact I don’t want to call myself anything. All I want to say is I have my own belief and values and I am not gonna label it but it doesn’t mean “kick in the face of feminism”. That’s definitely mature of you to say Mr Know It All. You sound pissed off so I think you need to take a chill pill and I hope you got your life somewhat sorted. Also my dad never encouraged that you so called get-rich-slow scheme. Plus my entire family. In other words maybe your family is BS since you have been taught wrong.
P.S: I am not part of a wealthy family. AT ALL.
I your post was really interesting and I learned from this comment but now am 18 and am working but I want to know what should I do with my life I love Information Technology. I have I.T Cxc wishing to go to get COMPT-A. am also do djing.
This article is titled “18 things every 18 year old should know”, but then it excluded women. I was really disappointed when I read each point because there is some really good advice mixed in with some blatant discrimination. Looking at point 13, Feminism is still important for men and for women because of how femininity is still seen as a negative thing. Femininity in both men and women needs to encouraged because it is representative of very important qualities like empathy and respect for life. Feminism today has been mutilated into women acting more like men, but the respect for what being a woman stands for has been lost. Women are now doing things that have been previously done only by men, and it is essential that women do not have to lose their identity to become successful like a man.
As an 18 year old woman I am just as ambitious as any man. Despite this article being written by a man for a man, I still value many of the arguments made by the author. This is the most essential time in a person’s life to become the person they want to be.
Carpe Diem
There’s a big difference between general women’s sovereignty from 40 years ago and the man hating stuff that goes on today. As someone who’s mother was a member of NOW and who has dabbled in Women’s Studies, that line is getting thinner and thinner. And it sucks because the original women’s movements weren’t out to replace any power structures, they just wanted the opportunity to make certain life decisions for themselves.
This generation of the women’s movement seeks to undo everything that was paved before them. And I’m not sure if this is accidental or not anymore and that scares me. No one hates women more than current day Feminists do. They (like most collectivists) remind me of old school religion that up until the 19th century or so would KILL anyone who disagreed with, or (preferably) would make whoever disagreed with them so guilty that they would kill themselves.
40 years ago, if you were a chick and you wanted to get happily married, be a housewife, and disagree with the women’s movement, you could be safe telling a Feminist that. They would simply wish you luck and harbor no ill will. Say that to today’s feminist and you are “a traitor.” I witnessed this in front of my very eyes on a college campus.
That being said, what is happening to feminism is what pretty much happens to ANY collective “movement:” They degenerate into a hate group, no matter what it is. Its a very natural process. Even Black Lives Matter went from a movement dedicated to saving black lives to now ending white ones. MRAs who just wanted men to have equal representation in courts grew into Stormfront, who want to eliminate all nonwhite life on the planet (or damn near). And if you are part of those groups, you can (and will) be replaced easily if you disagree with any one thing that tell you.
Being part of a movement and trying to make a statement is premeditated murder on the individual. It helps to know that ;)
“young men under the age of 18 asking what they can do. My answer is this: Endure.”
Or drop out of high school, run away from home and live with your older buddies who are in college? Or work a lame retail or restaurant job and be homeless for a year? I dunno, that’s what I would have done back in the day. I’ve been homeless before, I think everyone should be homeless (or live in their car, that’s what I did) for at least a few months. I dunno just my thoughts really.
I dont agree with half of the things he is saying in the article or w.e yu want to call this. is so bias(s)ed and sexist he obviously has no respect for woman, feminism is about woman who feel the need to be treated equally to men. I agree with the whole idea of being a feminist because we’re obviously different from one another but tht doesnt mean that we shoudnt have fair treatment. I somewhat get what your saying about getting married at a young age but you will never know what to expect whether you’re getting married at the ages of 18,20, or 30 so you cant neccessarily give someone advice on why they shouldnt get married unless your speaking from experience . Also alot of people have gotten married at a young age and have been together for years it depends on the person .
So does this advice not apply to women, I am new to your site and although not a feminist in the third-wave sense, I do not believe that being a woman and a hustler should be mutually exclusive. Regardless, is there any advice here you would tweak when directed towards an (almost) eighteen year old female living in America, about to enroll in a college, under a biology (pre med) major? I am not 100% sure if college is the path for me but I needed to get away, moving to Long Beach near Los Angeles to start life as an adult; I would be very content going into medicine, but also many other paths. I hope this isn’t too lengthy and the fact that I am female doesn’t deter you from replying because I truly do think this is wise advice, for a man (although I don’t believe all girls, or men, are the same; I would advise, though, for men to look deep within a woman when considering her as a mate because some women aren’t feminazis and have true substance and character that is unique, and as much as money and hustle is important, so are the more existential aspects of life such as finding oneself, usually through the help of another…) Thank you!
I am a girl and i felt every single word you said here
i really enjoyed reading this .. i’m 18 yrs so i lost my way and reading this was the best thing ever for me
have a happy life i love you <3
I really like the tips
many things in India are not same as Western countries.in india,18 year old is still treated like kid and faces child abuse etc.i respect indians cause I am Indian but some things never changed here.
I am not listening to one thing you say after that feminism bullshit you just said.
What you have said about feminism is not true, and deep down, men know it. It is wrong to “bang random chicks” and push women aside for your personal success. De-humanizing women is how people ( and I say people in general, not just men, but women in power who forget those in poverty and struggle) are able to justify rape, oppression, and stereotypes. Women are all beautifully complex and human beings. You have the power to actually do research, and find the real results: women have been pushed aside. They have been in the kitchen making dinner for thousands of years, but no longer! You do not need to respond with anger, even though a comment such as this may strike a nerve. I am not speaking from an uneducated or unrealistic viewpoint, I speak from mere experience, research, and testament of women in my life. You guys are clever, so you should be able to figure out for yourselves what women can do and should be allowed to do. I call for everyone reading this to take a second and realize that I am not against you, I am merely trying to help you understand. I hope you are able to read this and understand.
P.S.- Everything else on this article is spot on. I agree fully with what BoldAndDetirmined says, accept for feminism.
- A Man Who Needs Feminism
As a man I’m sure you know everything about what it’s like to be a woman in this country. Probably more than the actual women do. Fuck feminism. Fuck women being people..
My father left my mother when I was 8 and needless to say, I’m an all-out beta male at age 15 because of his absence. So I started reading articles in the manosphere, from Jon Anthony to Quintus Curtius to Roosh and even AskMen (insert meme) but I think I finally hit a goldmine on your blog. Unfortunately for me however, I live in Pakistan and hence, I don’t have access to all the juicy material available here.
If you can provide this book on Amazon, it’d be much easier for me to purchase.
I would’ve of liked this more if you didn’t feel the need to put down woman or feminism. And what was up with the ” white male ” thing. This country is in the hands of white men and you see how shitty it is… guess whose to blame
I just don’t have words to say anything. ………… amazing for young man, who want to live a life like heaven. ……
Thank You
VICTOR PRIDE
This, is perfection
I’m 13 already and went on this website and read it all I see this very helpful for teenagers for their life and when they grow up. To me the most helpful tips is number one is not trying to get married that is very good for teenagers because they are not ready for that stuff. Thank you for the helpful tips this will help me in my daily life.
Kick dirt in the face of feminism? Excuse me?!
Yeah, you heard him. Modern day feminism sucks. It’s not feminism if it’s not equality, and men are constantly being pushed under the bus simply because they were born with a penis and they like to rough house.
I love men, a lot. I like it even more when they aren’t constantly questioning their masculinity because they think it’s toxic to indulge in whatever men indulge in. Now all the 18 year old ‘men’ i’m currently in school with are all tranny super-feminists who are out of shape, hyper-liberalized, anti-sex freaks of nature.
Feminism had a role, but in todays America it’s morphed into something it ought to not. Women are finally and totally equal (under the law anyways). Men sexualize us, but no amount of feminism is going to change biology, just a good old fashioned smack in the face if it truly is sexual harassment.
-Facts
Reading this has turned my life around. To put my situation short, i am a 16 year old foster youth living in an orphanage in dayton ohio. I was blown away by this. Its true, the modernization of the United Stated has brought with it a social prison that many just walk in and stay in their cell. I want to traverse the world. this article has helped me to see that as a possibility rather than a dream. So does anyone have any idea about how much i should save up if i want to move to thailand? and how would I go about this. I turn 18 in a year and 2 months so i need to ready myself for the future. I think about $10,000 should be enough but idk. Thank you for writing this.
$1,000-$3,000 is enough.
Do you have anything that you think I should do specifically? And what city should I go to. I greatly appreciate this. I showed this article to my friends. Now they wanna go with me lol. What should I do in regards to finances when I get there? Thanks, Noah
I agree with just about every last thing on this list. And in spite of being a woman myself, I have to agree that this whole hyper-feminism (shitting on men campaign more like) shit has gotten out of hand. My advice to men my age (18-ish) respect women*, but you need not bow down to us. Or anyone for that matter.
Also boys, very important advice from a woman not mentioned here:
*Smile politely at a pretty girl, but don’t touch her. Women nowadays are screaming rape and sexual harassment left and right, most likely to get attention or money(by the way, it’s best not to tell a woman when you’re wealthy, because many want to be lazy and marry/ be impregnated by a rich man). Whether or not all these accusations are true, i’m doubtful.
You stay in the clear 100% of the time by making NO reference towards a woman’s body, and avoiding being alone in a room with one (thus putting yourself in a compromising situation if she does scream rape)
This is such a shame that this is one of the first results that come up when you search “advice for an eighteen year old”. From this article I’m just going to guess this is from a Meninist website. And the sad thing is you’ll reply “oh look! another dumb Feminist cry baby snowflake”. Thesd anti-women remarks in this article are pathetic and scream “I’m so offended by females, especially those who want the same rights/sense of entitlement as me! I must continue to dominate the Earth!”. Women are being sexually harassed continuously, raped, are not being paid for the same job a man does despite working the same hours and having either the same/enhanced skills, and they are constantly being thrown into the threat of having their option of having/preventing children being taken away from them. College rape and harassment is completely concerning, and sex trafficking is starting to heighten at increasing rates, esepcailly towards young women. That’s what feminsm is going against. It’s also going against gender stereotypes for both women AND men. We understand that men being raped isn’t something that people take seriously and find that appalling, and we want to help and support them. We want to help men who have been in that situation. We also oppose the notion that a man must never feel any depressing emotion and be ridiculed for it, solely due to the “macho Man” notion that has been embraced and expected for years. And we don’t think that in a divorce it is right for women to have sole custody of a child just because of her gender, when in some cases, she may actually be harmful. So stop being so self centered by thinking “hey, the Feminazis are trying to ruin our lives!” and maybe start thinking that they are trying to improve the lives of others and not dominate. I totally understand that on the internet you have some women who say “all men are the scum of the earth and women should be paid much more than men for all the jobs”, and that’s not right and that’s not Feminism. Feminism wants equality. You’re easily looking into the stereotypical view of it and not willing to talk to any real Feminists because it seems like it will hurt your ego. I usually don’t like to comment on threads and I never comment on blogs that I don’t know, but damn, what I was reading here was too ridiculous for me not to say anything. I hope you can change your mind and heart, and at least try to shift your peresepctive, at least in the real concept of Feminism.
Hmm…so that’s what it is to have a job?
In that case when I become 18 I’ll just wait until I die from starving. Sound much, MUCH better than life itself (at least if life is as how you described it)
10/10 Great article
I really like this. It is honest. Today we are so contained and restrained by what we cannot say. This is simple and honest. There is only one point I do not agree totally with but I like the raw and pure truth in this.
I am a white, business woman in Maryland. I am sitting here writing a book directed to women. Truthfully I have had bad things happen to me as a woman in the workplace simply because I am female. However I see many bad things happen to men due to women.
Just the other night I was working with a couple divorcing. She got pregnant and retired that day. He built an amazing business. She spent recklessly through he years. She did work. She did not cook, clean or do anything at home. He had to hire people to take care of things at home while he worked. She played tennis. Now that his youngest is in college he is divorcing her. She gets half of everything, plus 12 years alimony, 12 years healthcare. a paid for home and a beach house.
Yes I am fully aware of the bad things happening to women but I am not blind to the bad things women are doing to men.
I would love to hear from the author. I think a joint project could be awsome.
Good article, but I disagree on the part directed at people under 18.
When I was under 18 I did what I had to do in school, so that my parents would leave me alone, and on top of that learned programming and started building a career out of it. Thus, once I finished high school I went straight into a job making 6 figures while being free to travel the world.
When you’re under 18 you have less freedom to pursue your dreams, but most dreams require skill that takes a lot of effort to learn. A lot of that learning can be done without the total freedom that comes once you’re grown up. In many ways it can actually be easier to start working towards your dream before the age of 18, as you have no bills to pay.
MANNNN! WHAT HAVE YOU JUST WRITTEN?!?!
BEST EVER THING I HAVE EVER READ ON THE INTERNET.
THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR FOR THIS!
“18) Be proud of who you are” ..
This what makes us living the life
I would add: get around people that inspire you. Want to choose a job/business? Don’t be afraid of asking people that already work in that field, to shadow walk after them on a work day.
Thank you for writing such an enlightening article, thank you so much. You have just just switched on the light bulb within me, and the fire within me to #eternallygratefull
can you please tell some thing for me ….I am from India and I always feel I am lack of a true and perfect mentor ….as I have my very motivational guardians but they don’t know more about this field so I always take wrong decisions and get very confuse in various times…….so I think a mentor can help me but there is 0 mentor around me ….so please tell me what to do
I keenly reading and came through the feminism you mentioned… do you have any proof for potraying feminism that way!! Listen. Everyone’s got an opinion and you have no right to judge on it. So cut the crap dude!
Rape culture IS real. My sister is scared of being sexually assaulted whenever she walks home in the evenings back from her job. Men can’t relate to that, even the thought of being mugged by some druggo doesn’t even cross our minds.
G Money thanks!!! Girly jobs only for girly men that’s ok for them but not me!
We Appreciate You Captain Victor Pride
My favourite part of this article is #1 I’m a young male and I wanna enjoy my youth rather than get than get tied to one girl…. But Victor got something wrong in #11 money is important but it isn’t the #1 necessities of Life. I think If you have a Loving family filled with parents who understand you then you have Everything thing a successful person needs so why do you say you need money more than a loving families unless you don’t have one… Just a suggestion
