Today is my 36th birthday.
To accomplish what I've accomplished in these 36 years took me through tears, cheers, fears, jeers, and leers - all to get me right here.
For you, today is priceless because I am going to share with you the 36 marks of a great man.
Ancient wisdom passed through eons of time to bring you this list. I have personally waited 36 years to bring this list to you.
How do I know of these marks? I was born with some of these marks and others I developed. If you were not born with them, don't cry about it - be about it and develop them.
Say to them “BE!” and if you mean it, they will become. With a clear mind, anything can be done.
You can even become as the Buddha and create your reality with the snap of a finger (and a lifetime of work). Speaking of…
Someone once asked the Buddha: “They talk about a ‘great man,' a ‘great man.' But what is it that makes a great man?”
The Buddha replied: “It is by freeing the mind that someone becomes a great man. Without freeing the mind one cannot be a great man.”
Someone once asked me:
“Victor, what are the marks of a great man?”
THESE ARE THE 36 MARKS OF A GREAT MAN.
1) His mind is free like water.
The mind of the great man is free from the prison the average mind lives in. They can do nothing, but he can do anything. Their mind is in prison; his mind is in paradise. There are no rules for him. Their rules mean nothing. His mind roams free; their minds stay locked up.
2) He has a broad torso, like that of a lion.
One physical mark of the great man is an upper torso that becomes increasingly broad, like that of a lion. There is not a bird-chested great man that ever existed in this world. The great man must have a great chest to house his great heart.
3) He has breath like fire.
Breath like fire comes from having spoken the truth for eons. They lie so much they believe themselves; the great man has no lie in his being. Even if he says nothing, he has spoken to you the absolute truth. When he does speak, his voice is like a dragon's. None can argue with a dragon.
4) His food always tastes delicious.
The great man's food is plain and without fancy ingredients, yet it always tastes delicious to him and somehow revolting to others. His saliva improves the taste of all food. Their saliva degrades the taste of all food so much that they must hide the taste with spices and chilis and other ingredients.
5) He has the courage of a german shepherd.
He has the courage of a guard dog but not the stupidity of a guard dog. He is prepared for all things and it is because of his preparation that nothing ever bothers him. Because he is ready, nothing happens.
6) He is never bored.
The mind of a great man is always in bliss and joy. He needs no entertainment, no gadget, no game, or even any companionship. A walk in the woods is more wonderful than Alice's time in wonderland. Each time he opens his eyes seemingly for the first time, the colors are more vibrant, the scenery is engaging, the world is wonderful. Even with his eyes closed, no entertainment can compete with what happens inside.
7) He has a 10-foot aura surrounding him.
His aura can be seen by all. This aura develops as the great man develops. The great man develops by doing less, not by doing more. He does less than everyone and achieves more than everyone. He does less and less until he is left with nothing but what is inside. As he develops less and less, his aura grows larger and larger.
8) He has no confusion in his mind.
There is no confusion in the mind of the great man. He isn't a “know-it-all”, he just knows it all. If you ask a question, he has an answer. There is no “I don't know.” He has the answer to all questions.
9) His eyes resembles the skies.
In his eyes you can see oceans of time. The great man was not born, he has been here for eons and will always be. You can see this clearly in his eyes. You can see eternity in his eyes. The history and the knowledge of the world is visible in his eyes. All who look in them are given a history lesson. All who look in them become temporarily lost in the sky.
10) He has blemish-free skin and radiant cheeks.
The life is available to see on the skin and on the cheeks. A life well lived manifests on the skin and the cheeks. If they are lacking in vibrancy, the life was not well lived. If the skin and cheeks are vibrant, the life was well lived and this person is true.
11) He is sly like a fox.
He is not out to “get” anyone, but he is sly enough to know when people are out to get him and others. To neutralize the greed of others, he is as sly as a fox. He sees all the games and the cons that others play. As all people, he enjoys playing games as well.
12) He has a nice smile.
The smile of a great man puts all others in a trance. His smile neutralizes all who see it. Unlike Medusa, those who see it are not turned to stone but turned into happy children again.
13) He has a body that shows abundant signs of good fortune.
The great man is not hobbling on a cane, he is not being led by a watch-dog, and his hair is not falling out. His body has been preserved, he has the health and energy of a child. There are no obvious marks or blemishes, there are no pimples, boils, lesions, or dry patches.
14) He has full, round shoulders and a broad back.
His shoulders are not narrow and weak, they are round and strong. He must have strong shoulders to carry the world on them (with a smile and a care-free attitude). His back is broad from carrying the burdens of the people.
15) He has a jaw like a lion.
His jaw is not weak; it is like that of a lion's. This comes from eating real food, not from eating the slop that the average person eats without chewing. Real food must be chewed and the one who eats real food has a lion-like jaw to show for it.
16) He has a voice that is deep and resonant.
His voice is deep because his words are deep. His voice can put anyone listening into a trance. All will feel temporarily healed when they hear his voice. They will be put into a trance and they will enter a new world, like Jack enters a magical new world after he climbs the magic beanstalk. All from hearing his voice.
17) He has eyelashes like a royal bull.
The eyelashes are an indicator of the character of a man. The eyelashes of a great man appear as a contradiction, feminine eyelashes on the body of a masculine man. This shows the true character of the man as having no greed and no ill-will.
18) His eyes do not see black and white, they see full color.
They think a thing is only black or only white, never understanding that the world is not “shades of gray”, it is full color. Look closely and you will see that not many things are black or white or even shades of gray, most things are blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. Not only are most things not black or white, they aren't even close. He can see beyond the “only this!” or “only that!” paradigm and see that it is often both and often neither.
19) He has an upright stance, like that of an ox.
There is no room for slumpy and dumpy posture. Stand erect and upright is the rule of the great men. He is never slumped, his posture is always perfect.
20) He has no mind for pettiness or trifles.
He has no mind for trifles and he puts the mind of all who are engaged in trifles at ease. Never engaging the trifles, instead he puts at ease the mind of the person engaged in trifles.
21) He has no mind for idle chit-chat.
He will not chat about the weather. He speaks softly, but his words are heard by all. Though he appears idle at times, he is anything but. The wheels are always turning in such a way that they appear to be standing still.
22) He will give you everything as long as you ask for nothing.
Ask him a question about the weather and you will get a perfect lecture on life. Ask for a perfect lecture on life, you will receive a quip about the weather.
23) He is perfectly detached from all outcomes.
He has no emotional attachment to anything because he is attached to everything at all times. He frets not over the outcomes because he knows all outcomes before they happen. Whatever happens, he is well-prepared.
24) He has no need for self-confidence because he is sure of everything.
It is not that he knows everything or is a know-it-all, he is simply sure of everything. There is no confusion in his mind. It comes naturally, it is not developed by routines or mantras or visualization - it just is. He is certain.
25) His lessons are taught telepathically.
He can communicate with no words. One look at him and you are given lessons never taught to you in 12 years of schooling. He says nothing, but everything is said.
26) He is perfectly selfish and selfless at the same time.
The good outcome for the great man is the good outcome for all people. It matters not about some personal petty achievement, what is good for him is good for you. Selfish and selfless have become married in the mind of the great man.
27) He is everywhere and nowhere.
If he is there, he is there. If he is not there, he is in the inquiring minds of everyone there. This is how he can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. He seems to know everything yet never seems to inquire about anything. People just tell him all of their secrets because he listens.
28) He radiates wisdom.
All who see him notice his wisdom. Even if they do not understand his words, they understand that they have been taught something very valuable.
29) He has no care for personal gain.
Because he does not care for personal gain, this is why he is wealthy. Because he does nothing, everything is accomplished. Because he does not chase material gain, material gain chases him.
30) He is always calm.
Whether he is fishing, walking in the woods, sitting in traffic, grocery shopping, he is always the same - calm, content, collected, certain.
31) He has no trouble.
Nothing ever troubles him. He does not allow a thing to trouble him. Because he does not allow a thing to trouble him, nothing has the courage to trouble him. Whether he be sitting in a palace or a prison cell, nothing is troubling.
32) He gives attention to everything.
Whether it be a squirrel caught in a fence, a turtle caught on a fishing hook, or a war raging in the countryside - everything is given attention the moment it needs attention. When nothing needs attention, no attention is given. Nothing is ignored and nothing is fretted about. When a thing needs attention, that's what it is given. Then he is on his way again, without a care in the world.
33) He reads Bold & Determined religiously.
Where the truth is spread, that's where you will find his mark. Agreement or disagreement is irrelevant to the truth of the matter. Whether you agree with the subject or not is irrelevant. You can disagree with every word you see written and still agree with everything said. You can disagree with every word the wise man says yet still agree with him. You can agree with every word the fool says and still disagree with the fool. Whether you agree with the wise man or the fool, you still cannot deny the truth and a great man never tries to do so. It is undeniable no matter the messenger.
34) He says to a thing “be” and it becomes.
The great man is a wizard, a master magician. Magic is the act of turning nothing into something, turning an idea into a physical reality, bringing something into reality that did not exist before. The magician turns nothing into something using the power of his own will. He says to a thing “be” and it becomes. This is how he appears to do no work yet he never is short of funds. His will is superior and through the power of his will *poof* he goes nowhere yet everything comes to him.
35) He can reconcile paradox.
His mind can process 2 opposing truths and know them both to be true. Everything is and everything is not. Up and down, left and right, black and white - they are all true in the mind of the great man. This is what separates the wizard from the worker. He has the knowledge that 2 seeming opposites are actually the same.
36) He has the demeanor of a great man.
Everything he is, is shown to you. You need no words about him; you need no approval about him; you need nothing because he shows you everything. You understand immediately when you are dealing with a great man.
Whether you be in the presence of a great man or are a great man yourself, you understand immediately. Words are not now and never have been necessary.
You just know.
You know everything.
You always did and you always will.
You have been here for eons and you always will be.
The truth is in your eyes, they never tell lies.
In your eyes tell the story of eternity.
You are the wizard of this world.
Always and forever.
Until next time.
Your man,
-Victor Pride

Almost every one of these characteristics was found housed in the great Swami Sivananda, one of the greatest enlightened men the world has ever seen and the author of the “Practice of Brahmacharya” book you quoted from in your post on conserving vital energy.
You seem to be growing in the path of truth every day. Only a man on the *path* can sense another on the *path*.
You are almost there. To make it to your destination you will need to conquer the sex desire completely. It is better than masturbating but incredibly foolish compared to actual celibacy.
I *know* the bliss you feel. It can improved 100-fold if you master brahmacharya (and drop eating red meat). Then, you will see the light. You will not simply read Jesus, Mohammad, Krishna, or Saint Francis.
You will KNOW. You will become a tower of humanity. You already have the magnetism and aura of a Kabir, Mahavir, or Lao Tzu.
Blessings and may you have many more fruitful years helping young men all around the globe,
Viktor
The vegan gurus can’t get a hard on so they advocate celibacy.
Lol, who said you need to be vegan? Veganism is absolutely destructive to health. A diet rich in raw milk, butter, cheese, and eggs is at once harmless to sentient entities and gives you animal nutrients that are *essential* for proper health.
It’s funny when fools open their mouths to opine on the wonders of sex. All you’re doing is revealing that you haven’t had a glimpse of anything better, almost like a colorblind man who refuses to believe that beautiful colors like red, green, and blue exist in addition to the gray and white which he can see.
Blessings
Looks like I touched a nerve. https://www.sivananda.eu/en/diet.html advocates no meat. Vegetarianism, veganism - it’s a sliding scale of malnourishment… Fool.
I eat what you list raw in addition to raw meat, without which you don’t get essential nutrients but you are blind to see that.
You should learn to separate orgasm from ejaculation and stop pretending to read minds because you are delusional.
This is a way to reach this state of mind - fasting - but there are other ways.
Thank you Viktor.
You’ve said it 1,000 different ways. But no matter what the Truth is always right in front of your eyes. All the reader has to do is open their own eyes.
Happy birthday brother.
Thanks Dylan.
Hi Victor,
Many happy returns of the day to you and wishing you a real long life spreading the truth.
Srikanth
Thank you Srikanth.
Happy birthday, Mr. Pride!
Thank you Francisco.
Happy Birthday Saint Vic!
Thanks Derek.
Uncle Vic,
Happy birthday. I began reading B&D back in 2014. Everything you’ve ever written is golden.
Alec
Thank you Alec.
Everything we know is simply a remembering.
HBD, Vic. It’s refreshing to read your recent thoughts. Evidence of your years in the East, form an unshakable philosophy that shines clear. Even down to the parallels drawn in the Chinese Zodiac animals.
I’ve noticed a recent cultivation and omission of some of your content… I am interested to see what might come out of it, for the future of your full color work and products.
I especially enjoyed the aura and magician sections of this post. ‘How to Be the Light’ was one of my favorites of yours.
Good fortune,
E
Thanks E.
Happy birthday, Victor.
Some of these hit home. Others I need to ponder further. A few in particular struck me like a lightning bolt.
Thanks you for this message.
Thanks Hozzy.
Happy birthday and keep up the great writing. As your age increases, so may your wisdom.
Thanks Shawn.

Thank you Steven.
To victor pride,
Happy birthday and onhope many more shall you see. Your blog has certainly changed since you began many years ago. It has gone from a sort of self help guide for men to a pseudo religious/theoretical roadmap of finding inner piece and happiness that seems to mirror your own life and experiences. This journey for you has been shared with us followers of your blog and its greatly appreciated. We have been on this journey with you and im sure it has helped many people in very positive ways. For myself personnallly i know it did. An article you wrote about drug addiction and depression really hit hard for me and helped me have victory over suicidal thoughts i had for over 30 years. If i only read that article and never read your blog again i found a true treasure that cannot be measured with money or wealth. It gave me freedom from the dark thoughts that were a constant companion for 3 decades of my life. Thank you sir and many best wishes for you in your journey in the years to come. Sorry to ramble on. Tim
Thanks Tim.
Your welcome sir. This old lion may be bowed but im not broken. I still have some fight left in me…thank you again my brother.
Sounds like someone’s been reading Osho :P Great post Vic!
Thanks Maximillian.
Happy Birthday Nick! I hope the #36 is “He posts more” haha. Thank you for another great article.
Thanks Andrew.
Happy birthday Ol’ Saint Vic. We love you. And not like those Germans in the shower at your hotel hahahahaha . “Good Lord that’s gay”. Still cracks me up!
Glad I started reading your blog at 16 years old. Now I’m 20 with a strong mentality that I have acquired from you. I hope one day I get to meet you. But if I don’t that’s ok. I have all your books and will read them probably for a long time.
Vaios,
I get a chuckle out of the ‘the average man is a give-up artist’ line from 21 things every 21 year old should do, myself. I discovered Vic at 22. I’m 26 now For sure, my mindset would have developed in a very different tangent if I hadn’t discovered this site when I did. Vic’s been doing the Lord’s work for the better part of 8 years now.
Alec.
The more I live the greater I become.
Happy Birthday.
Thanks Alec.
I think this is the best article you’ve ever written. Your ability to speak the truth is unparalleled and it seems like you surpass yourself everytime you post.
Happy 36th birthday Victor.
Well said.
Thank you Vaios.
Happy birthday bro.
True. The truth is in you so long as you’re not inhibited and living with an open-heart.
Thank you ML.
Awesome post. I particulary like items 6, 23 and 28.
36 happens to be my favorite number. Congratulations on your birthday!!
Thanks Walter.
Happy Birthday!!
Been following this blog for 5 years for good pragmatic advice. Always loved it! Pls dont become to philosophical like ‘you need to be like water but not washed away’ shit.
Thanks
W
Thank you Will.
This is some interesting esoteric stuff.
Have you been drawing on Taoism lately?
It is what it is.
Great article, what we all know deep down you put into words.
All the best to you and those you care about!
Thank you Max.
Happy birthday ma`man !
Thank you PJ.
Beautiful. I am a busy man but I always take time to read Bold and Determined and find the time well invested. The theme of the union of opposites as the basis of magic is explored by Carl Jung in books such as Answer to Job. Jung calls this ‘enantiodromia’, the heroic path of individuation.
Thanks Robert.
This is an incredible piece of writing. Thank you for writing it, Victor Pride. And happy birthday.
Thank you fella.

This is something I want very much
Thanks Anon.
I LOVE Bold and Determined!
Only think I’ve ever disagreed with is when Vic debunked meditation.
Yet like it says in this article, it doesn’t matter whether you agree or disagree. Opinions don’t matter. The truth is the truth and you know it when you experience it.
Thanks for everything my man.
Thanks Jeffrey.
You have this innate ability to share your life’s experiences in a simple and effective way with the world, its so powerful and relatable. I just love binge reading your posts.
Happy Birthday Mr. Pride!

Subliminal Shinobi

Thanks Jaime.
Vic,
Happy Birthday!!!! I wish you health, wealth and happiness.
Your man,
Alex.
Thanks Alex.
Number 35 on this list is very important…
Average man cannot understand it but a Great Man who is astute and agile in mind can always take advantage of situations for his favor. The same situations that just cause average man to be blind and be polarized.
Average man can see but cannot perceive.
Average man can hear but cannot comprehend.
This can be applied to anything from politics to life experience to philosophy…. Understand Number 35 on the list very well and be able to quickly assess it.
On that note, a Man who is born without any physical or mental deformities, Not in prison/jail and you are living and breathing fine in western country. Count yourself lucky stars.
Whatever restrictions you have or you think you have is just mental. Anything can be done and anything is possible.
I AM….
I WILL BE…
I CAN…
For example,
The average sheep will see a building climber, bungee jumpers, sky divers, or some random teens doing parkour in high end building … and will wonder why are these ‘idiots’ doing that? and comment like “another one bites the dust” or “another candidate for darwin’s award”
But I see those average sheeps who bleep as the fool and idiots. Because at least those daring devils are doing something… they are taking action and doing something and challenging their own body and mind and even their fear.
What would the average man do and how much could he achieve? Taking orders from a job he hates….. Could he free his mind and do whatever action he wants to take without what anyone thinks or what outcome there might be?
Could he take out the equity in his home and invest it in Forex today like it was nothing? What would he fear? and why? Could he be able to free himself from mental shackles? .. Could those questions be something he can ask later or now and answer with honesty?
Could he just close his eyes, think or even have them open… Open your eyes, see the world in bigger picture, understand the game, and be able to not let anything around him affect him in any way shape or form?
A man is standing on top of the building, looking down at the world and seeing the busy streets, hectic city life…
Now he is looking down, staring down at an ant hole, looking at how all these ants move and directions they move and now he is picturing himself when he looked down at the building and seeing how all these people move in busy city.
A man who is in jail/prison will know that it’s obvious that he doesn’t have freedom. Can a man who is not in jail/prison still see that? Does a man have to experience something physical or see it with his eyes that he has to understand it? Or can he still understand just by using his mind and think that… nothing is impossible for him. Everything is possible. It was all just constipated mindset.
Free mindset where there is no restrictions and anything can be possible.
best wishes for the years to come, way to go, more places, more kisses, bright future, more muscles, more girls to make angry and become a success.
WISH U HAPPY BIRTHDAY.
Thank you Nirantha.
You embody all the traits listed in this article, and you are a living proof of every word you say.
Five years from now, I will be that man. However, I do possess some of the traits, but still, I know it takes time, hard-work, and constant self-improvement to fully become that man.
Happy Belated Birthday!
Thank you Emmanuel.
Wish you a very happy birthday Victor. Lots of blessings and warm love to you man.
Much love and respect.
Ak
Thanks Ak.
Happy Birthday man
Thanks Alex.
Hey Victor,
Nice to see your post after a long time. I have created a fitness app called skyletik, you can check out my page on Instagram @skyletik. I learned a lot about fitness and starting a business and being independent from you.
At this stage I’m 19 and I’m currently doing a job, and whatever I earn I just keep investing on skyletik, not partying, not even chilling, just doing some job, hitting the gym and working on skyletik. My app would be launched in 4 months and will be available on both iOS and Android.
Hope one day my efforts will show results but I got to work more.
Anyways thanks a lot and I did read your blog before I start my day.
Thank you
Rushay Parikh.

Uncle Vic, I have been reading your content since I was 16 years old. Out of all of your works this far, I can tell you this has become my current favorite. Thank you for your content.
Thanks Steve.
Victor,
I think you’re at the age now where maybe it’s time for you to start thinking about settling down with marriage, having kids perhaps? I’m sure there’s plenty of women in America now your age who already have kids who you could marry, to get some practice in for having kids of your own? You can take them to the mall every Saturday and see the joy on their faces as you shower them with toys and ice cream, and your wife’s face as she is able to buy as many shoes as she wants with your affluence.
Also all these weights you’re doing isn’t good for you in the long run, you ought to take up something like yoga and light walking, it’s much better for your joints and general health.
Take the weight of your feet and sit down and watch a bit more tv aswell, it’s more relaxing than spending all this time in the gym.
Macdonalds food is also a great way of saving time cooking in the kitchen, and the magic of it is you can sit and eat it whilst watching the tv!
hahahaha Pure Troll Detected,I got a good laugh out of this.
Great idea Joe, I will get right on it.
Hey thanks a lot for this article victor. All your articles contain lots of truth inside and are pretty funny as well. This is what makes you an amazing writer.
Thanks Daryl.
“His aura can be seen by all.”
A bad aura makes everyone around you worse.
A good aura makes everyone around you better.
Article idea: how to really change the world.
Thank you and happy birthday.
Thanks Cameron.
What is you don’t have long eyelashes? Wear mascara?
Happy Birthday from Wichita, Ks. May Every Day Broaden Your Kingdom.
Does a great man have children? 36 is getting up there, what are your thoughts on this? Have you made a decision to not have children or are you just going with the flow?
Greetings from Nigeria.A great article as always.
I thank you yet once more.
Your art has given me the wisdom and drive to get started on my own path and I’m happier now, a year later, with my accomplishments. I recently started working on a masterpiece of my own too and the advice given here is, as always, more helpful than ever.
This comment would be incomplete without mentioning and recommending 30 Days of Discipline to other readers of your blog. That book is a game-changer.
Feel free to stop by anytime to share feedback.
With pleasure,
Louie Blackburn
Thanks Louie.
Because of your blog I have decided a few years ago not to live like everyone else around me. I got a job in sales and saved up enough money ($12,000 saved) within a few months to start a business. I quickly got enough customers to hire two employees and I quit my job. I wake up when I want, I enjoy a nice breakfast of eggs and coffee, I ride my motorcycle around in the sunshine, I sit at a nice place and make a few calls to customers, I fill up my employees’ schedule for the week, and I enjoy my time while growing a business. I’ll be getting a commercial property soon for the company. I’m 21 years old. I have time to go to the gym, hangout at the lake with some cute girls, and I get the satisfaction of helping my employees feed their families. My dad was an electrician and his dad before him. My mom was an accountant. We never had the money to go on vacations except for a couple of times and I was not raised to be anything other than middle class. I have learned so much by starting my business and I’m so glad I did. It forced me to understand business taxes, labor laws, the necessary forms and all sorts of things they don’t teach in school.
When you own your business and own your life, there is an entirely different energy that flows from you. It makes you jump up and say “Let’s see what amazing things I can do with today”. When I was an employee I just wanted the day to end. With each day that I move forward I feel that even more is possible. I don’t think anything is impossible except for succeeding without taking a chance.
Thank you for this blog because it planted a seed in my head when I was in high school. All you did was grant permission to listen to what I already knew to be true inside. Now I don’t listen to anybody. Only to what I know is true inside. It’s all that matters. All I do is 10% work and 90% whatever I please. Isn’t that how life should be? I don’t owe anyone anything. I don’t have to be anywhere. I don’t have stress and I do a lot of smiling nowadays. It makes me excited for what tomorrow will bring. I could lose it all, and with the way life is, I just might. I’m not worried. It all comes and goes but I am free and I enjoy my time. Nothing else matters.
Enjoy many more years of success and freedom.
My man.
Interesting list. Definitely agree that a great man must cook great food!
You could apply a lot of these marks to a sociopath, a regular 9-5 office working ‘nobody’ or a suicidal drug addict no?
